The recently launched “Blue Pampa” project is a ten-year 'strategic initiative' with the purpose of researching South Atlantic resources in five different areas to ensure conservation and management, plus reinforce Argentine sovereignty with inter-disciplinary campaigns and inter-ministerial support, according to Argentina's Science, Technology and Productive Innovation ministry. I dont get it, dont they know the migratory and biological cycles of these fisheries of the South Atlantic by now??

    Ufff I do know one thing for sure this will be more money spent to these governmental institutions like CONICET and CONAE that have rockets blow up in pieces at a couple of meters from the ground in take off after years of pouring in investment in these “institutions”.

    More money for football for everyone as they have added in 10 clubs into the first league by decree, which also means the cost for transmition of matches will go up to over a Billion pesos per year and the quality of football will go poorer and poorer.

    When is this populist nightmare ever going to end '?

    South Georgia and Sandwich Islands are about 2074.86km or 1680.72 miles away from Argentina.
    Next claim will be the West Coast of South Africa.

    @2 Brit Bob,
    lts the sovereignty that they would LIKE to have.
    First claimed in 1942 when they thought that we would lose the war.
    We claimed it in 1908, l think.

    Hello, 5.
    I believe that any allusions or hints by Argentina to those areas has potential for a “row” as you put it.

    They can only claim sovereignty over their own land of Argentina,
    International waters are not theirs,
    And they should be barred from British territorial waters,

    Then again as some Argies have suggested, that they inherited all that was Spanish, then I guess all the waters around south America is theirs as well,

    Tut tut..lol

    The S. Georgia/Sandwich islands & maritime spaces part is designed to provoke a row, however how far they are actually able to fund this for any length of time, is another matter.

    Still starving in the Antarctic I note, thank Putin for Russian air drops.

    Good excuse though to increase the British military footprint in theatre.

    @ 6

    We also 'invited' the Argentineans to accompany us to the ICJ in 1947, 1949 and 1951 regarding the Falkland Dependencies and on each occasion they turned down the offer.

    The UK also applied to go to the ICJ unilaterally but the ICJ advised that it could only act if there was agreement from both parties to recognise the Court's jurisdiction - something Argentina did not recognise.

    @7 Vestige,
    And now, Argentina would like an empire.
    But its too late, baby(thanks Carol King).
    Whats the basis for Argentina's “claim” on South Georgia, Vestige?
    The British discovered it before Argentina even existed & no Argentine has ever lived there.
    Going to ask all you malvinistas, that.
    So don't be shy,
    Enlighten us all, Vestige.
    Why do you think that Argentina owns South Georgia?
