I've heard this joke so many times before that it's getting old and boring.......I wish Timerman and his Ministry could come up with something new (and funnier).

For Timerman to accuse the Gov of a “deep lack of knowledge on International Law” is laughable and shameless. If only there was a court somewhere that could adjudicate on this issue and prove Timerman right - or very, very wrong. Oh that's right, there's one in the Hague - strange then that Timerman runs as fast away from there as he did from the negotiations with Hague and the 2 islanders when he went to London.

    7 Reality Check

I don't think Malcontent Marcos is particularly bright, nor do I think he loves in Canada.

He seems to have poor English at times and no knowledge of Canadian slang or expressions.

However, when he first spoke to me about Canada, he said he “passed through” Victoria, the touristy Capital of British Columbia, the most western province. He mentioned that he visited a friend at the University of Victoria, before moving on to Eastern Canada and then Europe. He was really proud of being in Canada.

I told him where I went to school, but he confused it with U. Vic., and continues to tease me about being a “U Vic Boy” - what a twit.

I don't know why you say he is from Canada - maybe I missed something, but he doesn't seem to be very 'hip' to the current culture.

Mind you, as someone said, he could be ALEX Vargas (“Pirat-hunter”) - now, HE is REALLY uncool !!!

    :-D

Can someone please post a link as to how this currently applies to early 18th and 19th century activities?

Part of the 'brief release' from Argentina's foreign ministry:
”exhibits a deep lack of knowledge on International Law, of the will from the international community expressed in UN and other multilateral regional organizations' resolutions, and of the policies advanced by the Argentine government since the recovery of democracy in 1983, in which it has reiterated that the only possible path to advance in the (Malvinas) sovereignty issue is through peace, dialogue and diplomacy as established in the conditions from UN Resolution 2065”,

In other words: “Since democracy has been declared in Argentina, we are now a law abiding, thoroughly decent country.” Why say it in a short sentence when you can spin it up into an orgy of lies and verbosity?
A succinct and honest communique Hector - not!

Gollum’s back! He has been out of the press so long I thought the Israelis must have set Mossad on him and he was no longer with us.

What a shame to be mistaken.

Anyway they are back at the demands game again:

“Our country (Argentina) agrees that the controversy over the Malvinas Islands demands direct dialogue between our Foreign minister Hector Timerman and Foreign Secretary William Hague.”
And went on to say “but not those Falklanders, Gollum is frightened of Falklanders Master”.

It must be a laugh a minute working for this idiot.

    “great impact?? ”

It irked Gollum-now it is good to see instead of the Brits/Falkland Islanders taking all the crap from Argentina without comment -they are now getting it back-more alarmingly from an Argentine perspective is they can't come up with anything new when challenged.

“Basic human nature suggests that a long period of time in which Argentina behaves well will have to pass before the Islanders feel open to thinking about a different government,” he added.”

Something Argentina will never understand-they are so stupid they cannot work out that they have only to persuade 3000 people that to live under Argentine rule is a great thing and they have got the Islands.

“Just the suggestion that there is a NATO base is so ridiculous that it makes the whole world laugh... and to suggest that there are nuclear weapons is really foolish.”

Did Gollum reply to this, asserting again his belief that there is a HUGE NATO base (with under 10 aircraft)?

Human Psychology, called a coping mechanism.

Losing to and being held at bay by a military organisation of 34 countries based 11.000 miles away, is a lot lot lot, lot embarrassing, than losing to and being held at bay by a small island nation 11.000 miles away.

Only one obvious fault in that hypothesis though.

The rest of the world are not FUCKING STUPID AND RESENT BEING TREATED AS SUCH!

So yes, the Islands are a giant NATO base, there is a huge, huge stock pile of Mega Thermal Nuclear devices there. The Americans and Martian Mercenaries helped the British win in 82 and all Argentines shit Gold and piss silver.

Here we go again, Argentina's Malvinas smoke screen to cover the Peronist calamity: European renegade colonists from Spain and Italy (thousands of miles from their countries) claiming colonial rights from Spain who left for good in 1811, in order to “decolonize” the Falklands! (after slaughtering and submitting the real owners of the Argentine territory) It will never work, it doesn't make any sense, the international community didn't accept the Buenos Aires invasion of 1826, the USA Americans bombed their settlement in 1831 declaring their rule at an end and the British enforced its ancient sovereignty rights and put an end to the chaos created by the invaders in 1833 establishing a permanent settlement. Argentina doesn't have a leg to stand on. When they invaded again in 1982 the International Community told them to get out!.. What more do they need to understand that they don't belong in the Falklands.

While ever there is a Falkland Islands, agrentina will always want to get her thieving little mitts on them ( particularly while they have a president who wants to distract from the fact she is robbing the country blind ).

Like Hitler, appeasement will not work, argentina will always want and want, no matter if their claim is valid or not.

What is good to see is a governor who is willing to mix it up with the neighbours and tell it like it is, even though it might be upsetting ( for agentina ).

    Argentina B.A.
Urban crime includes pick-pocketing/purse snatching, scams, mugging, express kidnapping, residential burglary, home invasion, thefts from vehicles (including “smash-and-grab”), sexual assaults/rape, car theft, and carjacking. Short-term visitors to urban areas are subject to street crime and should exercise appropriate levels of caution. Visitors have reported robberies in while in touristic areas, at banks and change houses, on the subway, and while using other public transportation. Thieves specifically target expensive looking jewelry, watches, cell phones, cameras, and backpacks/bags. They regularly nab unattended purses, backpacks, laptops, and luggage and will often distract visitors for a few seconds to steal valuables. This includes robbing purses and bags from occupied tables at restaurants. American tourists routinely report stolen U.S. passports to the Embassy. Some of these were stolen in a violent manner, including at gunpoint. Long-term residents have greater exposure to criminal activity while walking on the streets, driving, traveling, and at home. Reports of home invasions and robberies are being received more frequently. Most cases reported to the RSO have been with firearms.

Many criminals are armed and ready to use their weapons at the first sign of resistance. Crimes occur at all hours, and armed robberies often take place during business hours. Favorite targets for armed robberies are banks and businesses dealing in cash or high-value merchandise. There are occasional high-profile assaults on armored cash carriers. Entire restaurants have been victims of armed robberies.

Sounds lovely (not!). Is this where you live paulie?
