The United Kingdom is disappointed with Uruguay's stance which identifies the Falklands/Malvinas Islands as 'a latent threat' and an element that negatively affects the South Atlantic as “as zone of peace and cooperation”. Ambassador Ben Lyster-Binns said he does not share the statement that the British Overseas Territory of the Falklands are a 'destabilizing element for the region'. Read full article

    Marcos,

    you pathetic dupe.

    What a numbskull you are.

You don't live in Argentina or SA, yet you would seem to be an outsider even in Europe or Canada.

Very uncool - you must be one lonely dummy.

We don't hear from you often - do you you have to go to the Cyber- café and put in coins to use the Internet??

    LOL !!

Just goes to show how stupid some people are.

Yes there was a Russian aircraft carrier in the English channel. You dont mention it had a destroyer and several support ships along with it.

You also fail to mention that the UK, just sent along HMS Dragon to escort it, one ship, one type 45 destroyer. Why? Because our destroyers are more than caperble of doing much more damage.

however, the biggest point here, is that this was not an act of aggression, this was two countries acting with mature diplomacy as one relocates several naval assets.

this mus seem strange to an Argentine, who thinks every ship movement is an act of war, or militarising the area.

God knows how Argentina would act if we did the same, when the new aircraft carriers are launched. Would be funny to see, first sea trials down to the falklands. ROFL

The only THREAT in the South Atlantic is bully boy poser nation Argentina. They pose all the time in their budgie smugglers making rude gestures but true to the character of an Italian Stallion they are in reality frightened little ponies. Their various attempts to buy clapped out washed up aircraft that work are noted and their navy is true to form rolling over and showing its bottom to all and sundry. They can retreat fast its true, but that doesn't help win battles.

The crew of the Admiral Kuznetsov would probably be glad to see a Type 45, given that they've been on manouvres for five months - Dragon would be one of the last foreign escorts that they see before they get home.

Macros @ No:2 - Yes, it's disappointing but no where near as disappointing as it is for Argentina considering it's still no closer to obtaining the Falkland Islands..

As the Russians have every reason to. They can sail their carriers through the Channel if they like.

Stuff the Russians; they are no threat to the UK.

    Back on topic:

“A recent public opinion poll contracted by the British embassy in Montevideo also showed that even when a majority of Uruguayans believe the Falklands/Malvinas are Argentine, an overwhelming majority, 80% support closer links with the Islands.”

And that, as they say, is that. It seems the “100% support for the Stupid Tupas” that “No Free Energy” Stevie has always claimed is, as usual, bollocks.

I met the leaders of a Uruguayan farming delegation to the Falklands last year and they just shrug it off as “something we have to live with but take no notice of”.

So nothing to see, move along!

Its not the people but the puppet Uruguayan government we think,

they have to comply with CFK indoctrination , and you can bet that behind the scenes argentine government bully boys threaten and bully the Uruguayan government , do this or do that or else.

    still,
    that's their loss not ours,
as for the ruskies they were in international waters,
now then, if they were sailing up the Thames and sat out side of parliament then the mighty MARCOS would have a point..lolol

Marcos, if you think that the British are disadvantaged by comparison with a Russian aircraft carrier, what you may not realize is that the type 45 destroyers have ship to ship missiles which could destroy any existing aircraft carrier in a very short time.

Uruguay telling BA what it knows that BA wishes to hear - while behind the scenes Uruguay's business community is opening up further business channels with the Kelpers. It's called politics :-)

AS for Russian carriers Morecrap - they have the right of free passage through British (or was it French?) waters. No threat.

Then put it to a vote.

    That should do it.

Strange is'nt it, this reverberating claim that the whole world supports them, yet the one place you never hear it reverberate is on the worlds biggest international stage, the UN.

Could it possibly be, just possibly be, that they have miscalculated and that they are in fact mistaken?

Then again it could be that they are a bunch of idiots who swallow their own crap.

Would that be the same little Britian that sent a Task Force 11.000 miles. Landed on an island, engaged in combat, defeated and then gave, the soldiers of a nation of 40m a 400 mile free lift home, so they could be smuggled in under the cover of darkness? To the country that was ashamed of them. That's right even though they did their duty, ashamed of them!

Be that same littleBritian would it?

I find it strange when they talk of colonial powers from far away yet never mention French Guiana. They have a ownership of a complete country on Continental South America (incorporated into the French State) and they say 'f:ck all? Can you imagine if it was British....! And yet they bitch about a couple of Islands hundreds of miles away.... Classic SA hypocrisy.

Oh no! Are you guys disappointed?

Maybe, just maybe, if you stopped being so occupied with yourselves and your alternative truths, you'd realise that Uruguay has ALWAYS supported Argentina in this cause and has NEVER said or done anything else for you lot to think that we ever did or would support the UK in the South Atlantic.

You see, it's all about expectations. See yourselves for what you are and you'll avoid future disappointments...

Actually chaps we may have been in our assumptions of the unmighty CFK,
Apparently for her services rendered in support of the Russian bear,
They did try to send one of their fleets to personal protect Argentina and CFK,
    Whilst ST George was sleeping,
Unfortunately and unlucky for them, they run into the mighty DRAGON—HMS
    Read…lolol.
    Well,
    It’s a good story…

    HMS ‘Dragon’ intercepts Moscow’s warships
Dragon, , is among the world’s newest sophisticated warships—albeit fairly weakly armed.?
With her Sampson radar and 48 Sea Viper missiles, she can find, track and destroy aircraft at long range.
However, just four of the six Darings are getting Harpoon anti-ship missiles—and it’s not clear if Dragon is one of the four.

Bit concerned that none of the trolls seem very concerned about the Spanish and Portuguese 'interfering' in Latin America, historically speaking. They bang on about the British in 18 bloody whatever Century but have nothing to say about this.

Maybe someone should point out to Uruguay's Government that if they recognised the Falklander's right to exist without being annexed by a Latin enclave in South America that's over 200 miles away, then it might make their opinions even slightly worth considering.

Perhaps Uruguay could sign a common defense agreement with the Falklander's if they want the UK to reduce its military presence on the Falklands.

Only one problem with the common defence idea: Uruguay has a Defence Minister, a Deputy Defence Minister and NO FRIGGING DEFENCE FORCES worthy of the name!

The total number of people in the whole country is less than ONE THIRD of the population of Greater London.

We do have 600,000 government employees, government numbers so it will be more in reality.

The ONLY reason they would sign such an agreement is so the UK Armed Forces could defend Uruguay from TMBOA.
