    Very interesting article....
    “Merkel the most recognizable and accepted leader, 51%, followed by PM Cameron with 35%”
    Looks more like a recognition of power rather than approval.....
    How the tools of global domination have changed....
    Germany doesn't have Nukes, doesn't have much military hardware yet it is the dominant power in Europe.....
    Why aren't people enthusiastic about EU politics....
    Simple...even if UKIP got a majority of British MEP's...just over 30% that would account for 20 odd MEP's in a Parliament of over 400 MEP's....some power!...not.
    Also...why are the nationalists winning?
    ...because every other country is a foreigner....
    What do foreigners generally do...
    Kill you...Enslave you or take what is yours, or a combination of the three...
    This is not ancient history and repeats itself.....Crimea....
    This is not an enlightened world, nothing changes it's a basic survival instinct...
    Even on a sublime level people want what belongs to YOU and always will.
    Whether it's your money or your land they are going to take it....
    Only the tools have changed.....
    The EU wants the UK in the EU not to benefit UK citizens...but to control them...did I say the EU...I meant Germany.....

    Voicey is obviously suffering from early on-set dementia and is best ignored.

    Or returned to whatever third world shithole he has managed to escape from as he certainly does not deserve to be in the UK.

    Why don't you come up and remove me....Scotland is worth a visit this year...
    It has the Homecoming, the Commonwealth Games and the Ryder Cup.
    One hundred thousand tickets have just been released for the games that were held back.....
    I'm only a stones throw from Glasgow, I could be there in half an hour plus 20 minutes ferry crossing...I'm sure I could entertain you....

    almost forgot...“Venezuela”...are you in the throes of ecstasy now...?

    @5 Are we agreed that there's nothing in scotland worth going there for? In 2009, “the Homecoming” had five themes. Robert Burns, scottish culture and heritage, great scottish minds and innovations, golf and whisky. 2014 will be different. Can't have Burns as it is now the 255th anniversary of his birth. Probably be waiting for the 500th. The scottish culture and heritage can be covered by wearing skirts and raiding across the border. Both still go on. Great scottish minds and innovations. This is a short theme with varied connections. For instance, scots have mutated the Loch Ness Monster into something that operates on land. It's now called Alex Salmond. Very cute. Salmon(d). Get it? There is also a connection with golf. Instead of trying to make a little ball go down a rabbit hole, the scots decided to dig their own holes. An interesting innovation as they can combine golf with ostriches and not even use sand. The only sand available has to be used for bunkers. Not on golf courses, but to put in bags to protect people when there's a soccer match. And, obviously, whisky can't be used as a these now that scotland is “officially” a nation of drunks. The Commonwealth Games may be poorly attended depending on how many “fans” for the World Cup manage to get out of Brazil alive. Not that you'd want to go to scotland if you've managed to get out of Brazil. And then there's the Ryder Cup. Wonderful event but not until September. This is 2 months after scotland's official “summer” that takes place in July. Unless it's rained off. Highlights are tramping round a set of muddy fields and watching various people trying to get little balls down rabbit holes in the pouring rain. Two points. TV doesn't really show the pouring rain as cameras don't focus on the mud. Then, the “golfers” keep up the pretense by wearing “light” clothing. But notice how they always wave the ball in the air after getting it out of the hole? That's to shake the water and mud off.

    UKIP has my X on the 22nd and next year. I'm a lifelong Tory voter but never again. The line in the sand has arrived. We should be welcoming the best of the best into our country from anywhere in the world, not allowing this endless uncontrolled flood of eastern europeans, its got to stop!

    You'll be getting western Ukranians for a change, Britworker.

    It's all good though. They'll push down the wages until you're all competitive in the salary market again..

    @11

    Tide is turning in the UK, all the main parties know it, they are very bothered by UKIP's meteoric rise and their support base just keeps getting larger and larger from all sections of society. With respect to the Ukranians, I would be happier it was they who were coming to the UK on mass than the Romanians!

    On the subject of inventions...I notice how...the English claim to have invented everything....but we all know it was mostly the Scots.....

    http://www.magicdragon.com/Wallace/thingscot.html

    ...apart from the short kilt...that was invented by an Englishman....the Scots wore a wrap around plaid....sort of like a Toga, but warmer, are you suggesting Romans wore skirts too...?

    The English for many many years embraced the notion of being British first then English. Most country's around the world use English to mean British and visa versa so If a Scot invented something then I don't think it would be surprising for English people to say “we invented that” because they are referring to being British.

    @14 Mendacious Prick

    What is your point exactly? Is this another weak attempt to denigrate the English?
    You fail. I know you secretly want to be British, don't you?

    ....that really is an outsiders point of view....
    Typical example is Murray and Wimbledon and Chris Hoy cycling....
    The English media is always...Britain wins....blah de blah....when it suits...it is a well known joke...
    Even Wiki....“Sir Christopher Andrew ”Chris” Hoy, MBE (born 23 March 1976) is a British former track cyclist who represented Great Britain at the Olympics and World Championships and Scotland at the Commonwealth Games.
    ...it should read....
    Sir Christopher Andrew “Chris” Hoy, MBE (born 23 March 1976) is a SCOTTISH former track cyclist who represented Great Britain at the Olympics and World Championships and Scotland at the Commonwealth Games.
    ....yes both are accurate but typical of the English trying to take credit....
    ...as far as the inventions are concerned...10% of the UK population but 90% of the innovation.....
    Says it all.....

    That's my point, The English are proud to use “British” when referring to themselves and Scots,Welsh and Irish. I don't think it is a case of trying to take credit where none exists necessarily.

    @15 ChrisR Islen
    Still hurting from your last beating?
    Please tell us all how this is an attempt to denigrate the English you Pratt.
    You are not fooling anyone with your different accounts you know. So sad.....

    No...I agree that your post @14 was a valid point and in most cases is true...but the majority of Brits are English and rather then give credit to Scotland they always use British instead...
    ...an example here...

    Sad to say that I have to agree with Ilsen...what ever ChrisR is, he is not Ilsen. ChrisR is a character...Ilsen is a Troll.....attacking without provocation and not even being addressed....see @2

    My real point is, if Murray was English it would never be Britain Wins or British...blah...it would be England wins Wimbledon.....or England takes Gold...etc...

    Cheers Voicey! I can take the troll insult, no problem.

    I'm still curious as to why you are in Scotland though? Surely it can't be totally Top Secret?
    People know I split my time between London and Venezuela, (knew I could get that word in somewhere!), due to family and business.
    So why are you in Scotland?

    Ah Ok A_Voice thanks for the heads up. I saw some things that were the same. ChrisR did a similar thing, attacked without provication. They write in a similar way. I thought It was ChrisR's way of attacking me using a vastly dumbed down version of himself.

    As for Murray. I see what your saying. If that is the case in England then the same applies in Scotland. The Scottish press are all about Scots firsts, then British. Only natural I guess. That's the nature of the club. Take credit jointly but single your own out if possible.

    @19
    Is that nickname the BEST you can do. catchy....lol.....knob! Probably had to look it up to find out the meaning hahaha...

    Haha...“I thought It was ChrisR's way of attacking me using a vastly dumbed down version of himself.”
    Oh dear... I reckon ChrisR is going to take that as a compliment...

    All things considered, I never really thought about it that way..yes it would be the nature of the club....
    Scottish press should indeed stop whinging and be grateful there are Scots being honoured for their achievements per se....a bit of rivalry doesn't hurt....

    will not
    Conservatives,
    only if Cameron get back in, but if you put him in, he can say NO.
    Liberals or whatever they are called,
    they will not.

    Go for it...a protest vote, but don't get carried away...they don't have any MP's in the UK Parliament yet. They are not a serious contender for UK Elections...
    ..don't be upsetting the UK recovery by wasting votes on UKIP... that will help Labour!

    Hmm.. thanks for the response Voicey, I know what you like about about Scotland, and I agree, it can be a pleasant location.

    I still am curious as to WHY Scotland?

    What brought you there, except the tolerance for men in skirts?
    ;-)
    Everything you state can be found elsewhere.

    Was it the British acceptance of refugees, or something else?
