British submariner named Commander of UK forces in Gibraltar

British naval officer in charge of the UK’s submarine fleet has been appointed as the new Commander British Forces in Gibraltar, with effect from August 5. Commodore Ian McGhrie will succeed Commodore John Clink, who will be promoted to Rear Admiral and will take on the 2-Star appointment of Flag Officer Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England and Flag Officer Reserves.     If you read the rest of the article you would see that the name was spelled correctly thereafter.

    I met your friend Peter Baxter on 1 June at Benmore's open day. I asked him if he knew you and gave him the information you supplied over all your posts. He said, sorry, I have no idea who that could be .....it doesn't ring any bells. I find that rather puzzling .
