Well, Mr Tim Jones, you wouldn't be saying that if Argentina owed you money, would you?

Argentina left itself wide open to these 'vulture funds' as you call them. If they had dealt fairly and honestly with their creditors after their last default then none of them would've felt compelled to sell their debt onto NML and other capital funds, would they?

Instead these people were offered less than a quarter of what their bonds were worth, no room to negotiate, and most of them were too poor to take Argentina to court. So these people opted for a slightly better deal from NML.

Revenge is a dish best served cold, and Argentina's former creditors are now having the last laugh.

Don't mistake Argentina with a poor country in Africa, Mr Jones. Argentina has more than enough natural resources to have paid their debt off 100 times over. It's just that Argentina is too corrupt, too incompetent and the Argentine government cannot govern itself, let alone the nation.

So this is what Argentina needs, it needs to suffer so that the people will finally realise that allowing successive governments to use Argentina's treasury as a piggy bank is a big no-no.

And if they don't, then they deserve everything that they get. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Argentina is NOT the victim in all of this. It is the people who believed them, and invested money in Argentina that are the true victims.

Karma has a funny way of coming around and biting people, and countries on the arse. Argentina is getting a big dose of karma now, isn't it?

What I can't understand is after nearly 200 years Argentina is still being classified as an “emerging nation”

Of course any debt relief should be tied to reduction in military spending.

In fact how about military spending limited to maintaining current forces, but nothing new or any replacement of old equipment allowed.

Left wing Brits with a socialist agenda telling the US Congress what legislation they should pass.

    LMAO.

Sort out the Real Fucking Vultures mate, the despots of Emerging nations in Africa, with their billions squirrelled away Swiss Bank accounts.

Sort them out and leave the victims of fraud alone.

Tim Jones should read up on the endemic corruption in the country to see where the country's money has gone before asking for a fair decision on its financial woes.

What is the collective term for a bunch of cnuts:
    “The Jubilee Debt Campaign, London”

And how do you know they are cnuts:

    “Our mission
Jubilee Debt Campaign is part of a global movement demanding freedom from the slavery of unjust debts and a new financial system that puts people first.”

Brilliant. Just what we DON’T need to have, another bunch of commies sticking their oar in.

So the Jubilee Debt Campaign considers Argentina a Heavily Indebted Poor Country along the lines of Liberia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Bolivia, etc, etc. What a triumph for the Peronists that is.

The “Jubilee Debt Campaign” is probably an argie front. A way to cover corruption, criminality and crookedness. Not as though the Kirchner bitch doesn't have enough stolen money. 16 million dollars the last time she declared. From hotels that are usually empty. Built on land bought from the provincial “government” at knock-down prices. And how much was in the holdalls and suitcases hidden in bunkers and flown out to tax havens. Where did 100 million US dollars' worth of Santa Cruz Province's funds disappear to when Nestor Kirchner was governor? Where are Cristina Kirchner's supposed legal qualifications?

Argentina is a nation that has fulfilled its history, it was born, it became extremely wealthy, but as with all nations that wealth ends some day. We no longer have the resources to make money, and as such we are similar to African nations (except the African nations are poor because they have not become rich yet).

There should be the same treatment of Argentina as for Haiti, Somalia, Sierra Leone, and other similar nations.

You made the deal with your lenders. You agreed to abide by the condition that disputes would be handled in NY Courts, or no money.

You got your money. You cannot change the terms of the agreement now, to avoid paying it back.

You've already reneged on paying by refusing to pay back 75% of the money lent to you by Hepatia's “Granny” and other Seniors.

Adding a “Fuk Yoo” to the Judge and other Creditors, does not reassure anyone you ever had any intention of keeping your word or honouring your commitments.

    17. If you care so much for your granny why are you not upset that she gave them 100% but only getting back 23%. Very simple answer to a very simple question.

When the UK passed the law limiting the ability to sue in British courts it moved much of the distressed bond market to New York, where you can still sue. Especially if the borrower agreed to allow the lender to sue in NY courts when they borrowed the money in the first place (since otherwise they wouldn't be allowed to borrow).
If they passed laws in the US to limit that also, the distressed bond market would just dry up. Good luck deadbeat countries getting someone to lend you any more $$ then!!
I can't see Congress playing that game. It would only hurt distressed countries in the end if they can't get anyone to lend them anything.

What are you talking about the Argies have been paying the full amount regularly. The wall street robber baron wants to steal my grandmother's money. Not 23% but all of it.

If Fictitious Granny bought £100 of bonds, the Aargh Government has only agreed to pay her £23, and slowly over time.

If your Fictitious Granny is receiving a Government Pension from Argentina, then it is likely to end soon anyway - the Government has been using Pension money to pay the Argentine “Poor” (unemployed) to vote for CFK, or shovelling money into Aerolineas Argentina or other La Campora black holes, to pay them for supporting the government.

    'Fictitious Granny'
and all the other Grannies, in Argentina, Italy, or other countries that bought Argentine bonds, or are owed money by Argentina, have been robbed by your Government.

#21. Hep c you dumb fucking idiot. You are arguing and you do not know the details. All the restructured bombs are on an average of 23% of the original amount meaning the ones being paid lost 77% of everything they gave to Argentina. Are you truly that ignorant.....what the fuck do you think the phrase...“an Argentine haircut” came from? Go home...go somewhere.

    Who's “Hepatia”?

Not true. My Grandmother did not buy 100 pounds of bonds. Who told you that. The Argies have been paying the full value on time. Now the Wall St robber baron - the same as brought us the Great Recession - wants to steal my grandmother's money. Singer should be paying my grandmother, not she having to give money to him.

My grandmother is not fictitious. She is human - unlike you Wall St robber barons who feel entitled to rob money from everybody to fund your excessive life style.

    Who's Hepatia?

    What pretense?

I certainly do have a grandmother. It is Wall St robber barons like you who have no family.

It was you that claimed that my grandmother is not being repaid. But she has been getting regular payment all these years but no more because of robber barons like Singer. When is America going to start putting these criminals in gaol? So I have no idea what is going on? I think we know more than you do.

Don't know - I have never been to Argentina. Neither has my grandmother. It is not necessary to go to Argentina to buy bonds. Blockhead.

Not true. The Argies have not stolen any money from my grandmother. Why do you think that they have? When do you think they did? You are just making stuff up.

The Argies have been paying the full value on time. Now BNY Mellon is saying that the money is going to the robber baron Singer who should be in gaol.

They borrowed over 100 billion and restructured to only pay back 23 billion. What do you think happened to the balance? Are you that ill informed? Everyone that lent money to Argentina lost 77% of their principle investment. Read up

Not my grandmother. She knows how much she paid for them and thats what they worth what she payed for them. But not now. Singer has junked them.

I'm not ignorant you are. You don't know how much she paid and when she bought them. You are just spouting off.

This has happened before. Countries have been bailed out by governments but the money has gone to robber barons like Singer. So the common tax payer subsidises crooks like this man. That and all the mortgages he has foreclosed on.
