    So Britain has no carriers?

This looks like a proper carrier from where I'm looking.

I can barely wait too see this magnificent vessel afloat. More time will have to pass before she's ready for operations with fixed wing aircraft. But, in the meantime, she could be equipped with every variety of helicopter. Chinooks for heavy lift, Merlins, Lynx Wildcats, Apaches. Now get on with HMS Prince of Wales. Together with cats and traps so it can use the F-35C as well as the F-35B. The launch is on time. Now push the fitting-out and get the crew aboard by the end of 2015. Sea trials during 2016 and handover at the end of the year. World tours to show the world that the RN is a force. And it would be good to see HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales sailing in company. Although I believe that the PoW may be named Ark Royal instead!

    @ fake Aussie

I could post plenty random, off topic links detailing significantly greater poverty, financial meltdown, despire and corruption in Spain and Argentina - but I can't be arsed.

Looking forward to seeing this monster stop by Port Stanley in the near future; and even more so, the hysterical hissie fit across the water. Roll on.

It could be the very last British ship made in Scotland.

Conq., are you right that the UK chose to urgently build these two carriers in SEQUENCE rather than in parallel ?!!

yeah but Spain or Argentina would not spend billions on a carrier when they are in deep shit!! but The Uk DOES!!

roll on independence for Scotland..as the Government prefers to spend billions on war machines than lifting out the million poor in Scotland and the rest of The UK.......Salmond must be rubbing his hands and a mighty big smile on his face......

You're obviously not keeping an eye on the polls my friend, the yes vote is dropping and currently stands at 35%, the no vote is increasing and now stands at 54%. You are hopelessly out of touch, but I know you are just being a nob so it matters not.

Yes I think Timmerman can justifiably call this collossal ship the Death Star, it represents a complete end to Argentinas aspirations in the South Atlantic.

    @ Fake Aussie

We can afford it, you can't.

Salmond will indeed be invited, although given he refuses to meet the shipbuilder's Union who are very worried about 5000+ jobs on the line, the customary hard hat for launching will have real practical purpose in his case.

Anyway, they'll be fine, far greater chance of Spain splitting than the UK. Go look at the polls if you don't believe me. Sorry.

She will awesome in a carrier group flanked by T45 Destroyers and Astute Class submarines. Outside the US, their won't be much on the planet that could deal with that level of firepower.

@7. Did you mean A NEW CARRIER? How do you get 1 million and 30,000 people in a paper? Seriously, do you think we English care? Before scotchland entered a union with England, it was composed of poor tribespeople. Most of them survived by raiding over the border into England stealing cattle, women and anything they thought might be valuable. Cooking pots, spits, buckets, things like that. Then they thought they'd try to emulate England's world trading empire and trotted off to Panama for what is called the Darien Disaster. So they failed. Of course, the scotch peasants of the time had little idea about trade and finance. Much like the scotch peasants of today. They desperately needed help and they turned to England. So England took them into a union and tried to teach them commonsense. There was also an attempt to instal intelligence but that hasn't worked yet. The current state of play is that the scotch hanker after their old thieving ways. Having spent about 260 years being a financial burden on England, they've decided they'd like “independence”. They conveniently “forget” the £2 quadrillion they owe for the loan we gave them and want to steal nearly 9% of OUR assets on the way out. And we should “care” about them? They've been warned. When they go they're on their own. Ungrateful wretches!

Here is one which should be of interest to you. Where do you intend to base your fleet of Trident subs. It seems that there is no suitable alternative to Faslane. Of dear, what a pity, never mind !

The rest of your garbage post does not merit any comment....SAME OLD MINDLESS CRAP.

You obviously know very little about British history....I think you will find the Border Reivers were responsible for the cross border raiding and they were both English and Scottish. There are many English family names that have been recorded as reivers...Routledge, Tailor, Noble.Potts, Reed, Hall, Hedley of Redesdale. Charlton, Robson, Dodd, Milburn, Yarrow, Stapleton of Tynedale. and many more....
As you so love everything Scottish.....
...I'm going to give you a pin-up of myself....Anglish boy...maybe you would like it as a wallpaper for your computer.....enjoy....

And here's me thinking that Great Britain was made from Scots Brains and English money - Watt, Baird and Flemming spring to mind. Steam, TV and Peniclin respectively. The union began came when James vi of Scotland took the English throne from his cousin Elizabeth Tudor.

    Two items of interest chap,
The latest pictures of the carrier you may have not seen yet,
Both HMS Elizabeth and HMS Illustrious will make history by sitting side by side,
    Take a look.

    ………………..
And on a more serious note,
The US Navy has agreed to sell CFK and argentines navy, a new aircraft carrier, [ honestly]
Argentina demanded that it must come, already afloat and in the water, with aircraft on board ready to go.
So now all Argies can celebrate their new acquisition to their new updated navy..
