“They say that there is some Russian blood in every sixth Argentinian. Many people from our country found their second home in Argentina and in 2015, we will celebrate the 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our nations” said Putin.

The original Gauchos were Russian Jews fleeing persecution. You can see some influences in the clothes they wear to this day. They arrived destitute and worked the land.

Putin recalled that in May 2014, Russia and Argentina signed a Joint Statement on Not Being the First to Place Arms in Outer Space, which is a good example of cooperation between countries.

lol She will literally sign anything!

So all the skint little socialists queuing up to kiss the Russian Arse.

Has anyone told them that The Cold War is over? Didn't they get the memo?
Russia is full of ferocious capitalists now.

Putin is only interested in one thing. Russia. He won't lend them any money unless it's extremely favourable to Russian interests.

These clowns will suck up to Putin because no one else will entertain them. He will exploit their vanity to be seen as major players and then toss them aside when it suits him. Putin is no one's friend, and nobody's fool.

They should be wary of the Russian Bear.

@4. Of course she'll sign anything. She walks away and throws it in the bin. I don't understand why she doesn't sign all her agreements in invisible ink. Can she not piss enough? She already pisses over most of the inhabitants of “her” country. What do you do in argieland if the manager of your apartment block turns out to be a crook? That's right, you shoot 'em.

“Argentina signed a Joint Statement on Not Being the First to Place Arms in Outer Space, ”
well that was an easy win, seeing as Argentina is incapabale of doing so.

CFK should be lauded for being such an outsanding global stateswoman.
I am truly inspired by her, so much so that I am going to try to emulate her!

    (ok, here goes...)

I am happy to personally sign a Treaty agreeing not to fly a fully-armed Eurofighter jet to Paris for lunch next Tuesday.

    Seeing as
    a) I am not a pilot
    b) I can't afford a Eurofighter jet this month
    c) I wouldn't know how to build one
    d) Paris is a bit of a dump anyway...
    ... I promise not to.

Putin is busy strengthening ties with other failed states such as Cuba and Argentina. Big deal. What can they actually offer Russia in return apart from a bit of propaganda? After Russia accepted that 'socialism' doesn't work their only route was 'capitalism'. The 10 percent fall in the Russian stock market after the invasion of Crimea and the threat of 'further isolation' made Putin stop and think about taking any further action. The fact is, the likes of Argentina and Cuba offer nothing but propaganda value to Russia.

@35. Good idea! “Sorry, we were aiming at the Russians”.
@38. Women! All of them! DONG. DONG. DONG.
@42. How do you get the Russian navy into British airspace? A Spearfish torpedo? In 1982, a bit of old American tin was hit by two British WW2-era Mk 8 Mod 4 torpedos with a combined warhead weight of 1444 lbs. The Spearfish has a 660 lb warhead. Three should do it. Two to cut the target into sectionsd and one to launch it. The Russian air force hasn't managed to enter British airspace yet. Something to do with Typhoons promising to blow their wings off. Can't you imagine the radio conversations? “Hello, Yuri Nate, fancy a dip? You may get a medal for the very highest dive”?
@46. How are you at keeping up? A few sanctions and “Mr Tough Guy” ran. And now Ukraine is wiping out the terrorists.
@50. How come? What's the length of the fuse? 12 years? Then deny the jurisdiction.
@71. Putin thought he could be “big”. Then he found that other countries had much bigger guns. Then he got out his american calculator and found that other countries had more military forces as well.

And the Russians refuel on the other side of the Mediterranean, in a spanish overseas territory. In case the Brits and Americans decide to “practice”.

    Thanks for the info ElaineB.

Being a 'no-show' is becoming a regular thing with Maduro. We will probably be treated to some deluded nonsense about a foiled plot to kill him en route. Remember the shambles over the UN? I think he is too paranoid to go anywhere abroad that isn't Cuba.
    Wonder why Morales bailed?
All a bit embarrassing for Cristina. Just her and the next door neighbour and a few hangers on. Hardly the top tables treatment Vlad is used to. I bet he couldn't wait to leave.

    81. Nestor didn't help Argentina's standing in the world. If I remember correctly he left a couple Prez at the airport and had them waiting hours over their appointment time.
He also allowed Chavez to pay for a rally and violent demonstrations in MDP when Bush visited.
It was scandalous and in very bad taste.
Nestor wasn't a very astute on world politics.
That's probably why serious countries avoid Argentina.

I know this may take a few hours for your pea-sized cortex to process, but strict stock/bond investing terminology (and one that is not even generally accepted within its own métier), such as “frontier market”, can in no way be broadened beyond its narrow scope to describe the entire state of affairs. So sorry, all you did there is just make yourself into a buffoon once more with your statements brimming with a paucity of cogency.

I said two days ago it was curious that the mass shootings in the USA had taken a few days break, possibly due to the 4th of July? But now its back to work in the “Syria of the North”:

She is playing up to Putin because she got her ass kicked by the US legal system and wants to show the US that she is going to defy them as retaliation. Peron did this exact thing after the war just to anger the States. It backfired and Argentina was left out of the Marshall Plan. Argentina has never made it back. Argentina at the end of the 90s exported far more and received far more investments than it gets today. Numbers of investment and export and imports are now fake.
The was far more variety of goods and of different origins of imported goods in those days. I was a kid back then and I remember at some kiosks having Swiss chocolate and american candy. My Mountain Bike gear was french back
Now its all Brazilian or Chinese whenever they let them compete with Argie manufacturing. You cant buy decent tools anymore in harware shops.

    100. I always have a obssesive habit of looking at where things are made and where they are packed.

I like Pringles chips, (which as you know its basically mashed potatoes with flour , chemical additives and flavours pressed into thin layers) a year ago the ones I get in my supermarket were made in Mexico, then they stopped coming and a month ago I noticed they were back from Tennessee, beside them there were Lays snacks (PepsiCo) which were the exact same kind of thing even onion and cream flavoured as the pringles were. Both American companies, same ingredients and process of elaboration the difference is that PepsiCo have been for years producing in Argentina. Lays made in Argentina was about 75 grm at $20 (perhaps a bit more I cant remember properly) and Pringles from Tennessee 150 grm at $30.

And I insist this a pretty basic and simple thing to do. We are not talking of heavy machinery or softwere. Something is deeply wrong in the industrial chain in Argentina. The only solution the Industrial union always calls for is more devaluations to remain competetive and more protectionism.

The people from Villa 31 are already rioting at the Obelisco. This has nothing to do with the defeat of course, they just got drunk and started looting the whole place. Had we won it would have happened anyway. These are the people who voted CFK, and they've completely ruined Retiro.

They smashed up a lot of shops and tried to break into banks - as you would if your team just lost a football game. (Sarcasm). The police were using tear gas and rubber bullets.

I do understand, myself having been robbed at gunpoint in Venezuela several times in the past 15 years.
Annoying for me yes, but what really, really infuriates me is being stopped at police highway checkpoints, and after some bullshit about some (un-needed) paperwork, or something being “wrong” with the vehicle, they announce a maahoosssive fine. Which of course can be made to 'go away' for a few bucks. I am talking about almost weekly robbery by the POLICE!

The fact they were 'no-shows' might have been because they would feel out of their depth with the other guests...It is a known fact that Lulla used to hate having to meet European heads of State, and loved visisting Fidel, Fernando Lugo, Evo Morales, Chaves (and now Maduro), and a few Central African dictators, because he had something in common with all of the latter : the desire to perpetuate themselves in power, and absolutely no respect for their people.
