How long now before a photo like the one of TMBoA above is the last public glimpse of her? The only difference will be that the last photo will have palm trees in the background behind Tango 1.

Kicillof called on “central countries” to “play by the rules,” accusing world powers of “validating” “speculative attacks” against emerging economies.

Meaningless tosh meant for domestic consumption.
What a joke by an over promoted clerk who is right out of his depth.
Seriously Argentinians your only collective hope is China. Get your begging bowls out.

@2. You can't get much more “central” than the United States. And the United States appears to be playing by the rules in that it's not interfering with its judiciary.

I wonder about “speculative attacks”. Who issued the bonds and then defaulted? That was neither speculative nor an attack. It was a stone bonker against a bunch of crooks.

Why is argieland always supported by “the majority” of countries? In point of fact, “the majority” of countries wouldn't try to act fraudulently and then evade its legitimate debts.

The decision to default has already been taken what she is now planning really, is how to pull through 5 months up to January and then negotiates with the holdouts some form of agreement to return to the capital markets.

ANSES and BCRA will have to bear the forefront of the expenses as if they weren’t heavily indebted with them already.

The land of mental midgets who are too busy drinking ground up alfalfa and living “tranquilo” to even realize that the rest of the world doesn't even know or care what's going on in Argentina. Let's see, going from the 3rd largest economy in the world in the 1920's to about number 36 today is a model to follow? Wow, what a great story! When all you are known for is Tango, Evita, beef and mate, don't expect too many people to stand up and take notice, particularly things that took place in the 1940's and before.

El Think has been analysing the holdouts' case in his humble Chubutean Post & Beam shed...

In about 72 hours, the “Leverage” some Banksters and Vulture Funds have had over Argentina during the last many years will be definitively gone...

In about 72 hours, Argentina will, yet again, be honouring her debts, depositing 650 million U$S in the Paris Club Bank account...
(Would luuuuuuuuuuuv to see them Banksters and Vulture Funds, through their loyal Yankee judge, Mr. Griesa, try to block that one... :-)))

In about 72 hours them Banksters and Vulture Funds can again start their futile chase of old sailships, commercial airplanes, weather satellites, nuclear reactors  and embassy buildings again..., as they have tried more than 300 times during the past 10 years without any success whatsoever..

All in all, in the humble opinion of this old Chubutean, a complete Win-Win situation for Argentina....

    Think is happy.....

I wonder how TMBOA's analysis of the situation is going.

This paragraph in the article amused me somewhat:
The president left Buenos Aires at mid day in the Tango 01 presidential plane to Río Gallegos. She is also scheduled to -visit her son Maximo Kirchner and her niece Nestor Ivan in the Patagonian province, according to an official press release.

I'm sure it's nothing more than a translation error (or Mercopress having fun) but I can't get the image of TMBOA's sweet little niece Nestor Ivan out of my head.

Think is a wonderful example to all and sundry of a slippery duplicitous Argentinian. He applauds criminality and revels in Argentinian default and aggression, but tries to conceal this under a transparent veneer of mild assertions. Argentina should pay all of their debts, celebrating resuming payments after a decade of interest and penalties have built up is a bit embarrassing though. At least to us in the civilized world.

BCRA should hold onto the U$, they are quickly running dry and not doing a very good job of papering it over any longer.
They're going to need that cash to pay for fuel.

I is rather unseemly that you cheer scofflaws, deadbeats, losers and mock the rule of law.

It is a serious character flaw that a lot of Rgs possess.

I think that is why the country continues to fail.

@35. I see from the Buenos Aires Herald that it's getting a bit chilly. In more ways than one. Sub-zero temperatures. That must be nasty. Over 30 here in Britain.
@41. What do you think the new “chapter” will be? At 34, Twinky thinks argieland will be sliding out from under again.

However, as we can see in this article http://www.buenosairesherald.com/article/165595/‘there-has-been-no-progress-and-the-situation-is-stalled’ related to an interview with a specialist lawyer, who seems to have been involved, who reckons that the RUFO clause won't apply and that argieland WILL default. What do we reckon? 3 days and about 6 hours and the whole house of cards starts to collapse. Wonder how long it will be before the effects start to be seen? The most important things, of course, are machinery and parts and motor vehicles and parts. They have to be imported, and paid for. Who's paying for that?

I don't think anything will happen in a week.

It looks like default is immanent, BCRA has been paying up to 270 days late for exports, 6 mos late for imports, that means they are out of U$ and working on a float. That can't last too much longer.
The only reason BA still has lights is because there're barely any activity in the factories.
    More layoffs will come
Remember Arg Govt has hired over 2MM, yes 2MM!! 5% of their total population!! to keep the unemployment number low.
The Fed Gov't is broke, the provinces are worse, they are printing pesos to cover up the HUGE decrease in tax revenue and overspending

In the near term, they'll devalue again and inflation will accelerate coupled with what will end up being a depression. Its a toss up to what's going to start first hyperinflation. depression or civil unrest

2)Christina, Elvis and Capitan stupid start the spin of “no big deal, it's just a short time till new year and then we'll be ready to show those vultures who's boss”
    3) Griesa will start helping the holdouts to the extent he can. The seizing of assets, if any, will go into high gear.
    4) The Dollar will go to 15 by the 15th of August.
    5) All of the converted bond holders ( it only takes 25%)will demand acceleration of payment by eom.
    6) Inflation will hit 3% in September
    7) The harvest is just about over so the income from exports will dwindle and the import of energy will start the drain of reserves yet again.

    59. What's the difference between a default and a technical default?

I've long said the default won't have immediate consequences, it just speeds everything up a lot. BCRA has U$4-6B in cash, maybe less, a lot less. Now that the soy sales are done there's no way to get any more until next year.

Psst...there's no distinction between a “technical” default and a default. You may want to help Austral Elvis et al with that. I don't think they have a very good grasp of English.

That would be, more or less, my pessimistic evaluation too....

My optimistic one is that, when that Damokles sword of a default shows itself to be completely blunt and inocuous, Argentina will quickly reissue them bonds under Argie legislation, continue to pay the holdins as agreed and and let productive foreign investment gently flow into the Country...

They already pay COD, but COD right before the ship enters Arg territorial waters. Most of the time the ship is waiting days, with ARG incurring HUGE daily penalties as they wait in MVD for the full payment plus penalties.
They also buy on the spot market as needed with no wiggle room to miss a ship.
Its an easy target and I'm sure that Singer has already considered it.

Missing the shipments would send BA into darkness, create civil unrest and embarrass the Gov't

    Its perfect.

And Think is under the impression a default will INCREASE investment in Argentina. WTF? That is simply idiotic. I don't even know where to go with that. So this whole decade with no FDI and now after default the money is going to start rolling in?
    Sheesh what a dimwit.

BTW issuing new bonds under Arg ( or anywhere else) would throw the country and anyone associated with it under contempt of court. I don't see any bank that would be willing to do that.

@63 - YOu an already sse what the next step for Singer is. He is undertaking discovery on RG gov assets in the US with a view to seizing them. If you look at the fact the he is cvhecking on Chevron, YPF and Lazaro Baez you start to get a flavour of what he is goig to do. The day of default, don't expect anythihg flashy to happen, this will probably start as a slow tightening of the noose but once it bites, it you'll notice it. As YB says, there isn't much money left at all, it's cold Argentina at the moment and they are going to be spending between 70-100mm per day keeping the currecy where it is. $70mm per day for a month is $1.4 bn. Add fuel shipments on to that and you are almost out of cash.

The default will also make it difficult to 1. lend into ARG, and 2. will ensure that argentina cross-default on all its other debt. That means an event of default can be called under any loan and eith the margin sky rockets or the money is called. People are right to an extent when they say the default in itaself won't change anything. It is what the defualt does to all the other agreements and debt which is the scary thing.

Also, I don't think that Gazprom is goig to help, they have enough problemns of thier own without trying to lend money, sell gas to a coutry that won't be able to pay. Afterall, there are many other countries in the world that offer better payment terms and less of a risk...

    81. I call you stupid because you are. Let me explain how selling LNG to Argentina works like I am telling my 6 yo nephew.
    Bad Country doesn't pay bills
    Bad Country needs gas
Bad Country orders gas a couple weeks before they need it
They are too bad to make long term contracts nobody believes they will honor
Contracted Ship makes it way to Arg
Usually down from Brazil into Uruguay
Ship Captain asks HQ if they have been paid
If not he waits in Uruguay or somewhere else a bit north until U$ is received by HQ
Bad Country has no u$ so they have to wait and pay a HUGE penalty for making ship wait in MVD 100-200K a day I think until they can scrape together the U$ to send for the gas plus all the penalties
Wire gets to HQ, HQ calls ship to move to MDP
Arg pays about 24-48 hrs in advance of getting gas delivered
They are a bad country nobody believes so they can PAY ON DELIVERY
They must pay FIRST then get Delivery

So if Singer wants to F them up good, he waits for the shipment to be paid for then he delivers a court ordered attachment to the shipping company's HQ and say thanks but please turn the ship around I don't want my gas going to Argentina.
Every major shipping company and most major gas companies fall under US law one way or another. Nobody is going to defy a US court order for some deadbeat country.
I think Arg may even have to start paying a bit more for everything since with default they'll have to pre-pay and the number of suppliers willing to deal with deadbeats dwindles considerably.

Now do you get it dimwit?

Once a product is in a ships hold and the ship is underway it comes under Admiralty law. If it is an American flagged vessel it would go straight to federal courts otherwise it would be held to the international conventions.

Eitherway, I don't see BP loaning Russia a tanker nor do I see a load of LNG being taken from a foreign flagged vessel. Singer needs to go after other assets other than that on the ocean. BTW......CIA(cash in advance) but slim chances of COD from a ocean shpment.

    I remember everything!
I remember every little thing as if it happened only yesterday.
I was barely seventeen and I once killed a boy with a Fender guitar....

I'm not going to travel all the way to the West when there is plenty to see and do in the East...
...maybe Jellystone Park see if I can spot Yogi Bear....he's smarter than the average bear...I've heard....

As I said, “...well, Yogi certainly has you beat then...”.

    1) Hideout - as in the classic gangster usage, a secret hiding place for criminal elements while the 'heat ' from authorities cools off.

    2) Hideaway - a remote secret comfy nest that lovers retreat to for privacy.

You got the first one perfectly, and I don't suppose you ever had a use for the second.

    :-D

    Yep,
we're all mocking you - I guess 'negative attention' is better than NO attention, right??

Tell us about air travel again, and your “Eastern” destinations.

    Edinburgh ?? ;-)

By “we”, I mean your penis.

Not surprising that several of us would arrive independently at the realisation you're a lying narcissist.

If we hear anything from you that is not a reference to your own pretensions or how marvelous you are, it's either from Wiki/google .

How many times have I insulted you directly, asking if you are inadmissible for travel out of Britain?
I have said directly that your unusual silence over Christmas was due to being incarcerated for drunken domestic violence, and that you have no money to travel.

    Ha ha, no reaction!
Someone as caustic, pretentious, and narcissistic as you, and no argument.

I think I've nailed you - you just try to distract, hoping I'll move on.

You appear to be nothing more than a frustrated miserable Troll with only the price of a pint in your pocket, and the hope that someone will stand you a Whisky.

If I didn't have to post to correct idiots like you and Think my posts would be all relevant to the articles.

BTW I hope the Arg D squad at least takes a shower, shaves, washes their hair for tomorrow. Maybe they could wear a tie and leave the backpack in the car.

weak weeeeakkk weak attempt at a comeback.

Yes, I've been to the UK.

    There, now prove I haven't :-)

YOU are the one making wild claims about travelling that are frankly, naive, outdated, and laughable - and yet you persist!!

    OMG it's too funny!!

What now, two paragraphs on the “correct” format for dates ???

Are you out of your mind??

Yes, I do know there is another Voice - a better one for that matter.

Sure had your blood boiling that no aft listened to your concerns... :-)

    I love dicking with you!!!

Now, you are saying MM is my puppet!

Who was it before ? Poppy?

    Which other ones???

What an ass you are - socks, caught in lies, fantasy travel threads, then crying that others picking on you and “stalking” you - it's just not fair that nobody likes you, but the rest of us get along just fine.

    Why do you care?

I don't care what YOU think.
I'm sure that it's safe to say, nobody here does.

You are a self- proclaimed disembodied voice from nowhere, who says he is not a Scot, despises the English, and makes comments and false statements to support foreign ideologies, corrupt foreign politicians, and enemies of the US/ UK etc.

You have ZERO credibility as we have no idea your true affiliations and vested interests, whether you are paid to repeat propaganda from La Campora or other sources, or whathaveyou...

Your opinions and speculations are therefore irrelevant.

Quite frankly, they're boring too - especially when you start talking about yourself

    Yawn.

For a very long time I just came here and read the news and the posts. I started posting because of Think's total disregard for the truth and there was nobody else here refuting his posts.
Then Toby and a bunch of other personas showed up, each one with a different agenda and a “debate” style but all with the same battle plan; Drown out the reasoned voices with half truths, out right lies, diversion, fallacies and whataboutery.
I am anxiously anticipating the next default and the subsequent economic crash.
I hope it finally breaks the back of Peronism

I don't dispute that sometimes your posts have a lot of interesting content...even for a layman like myself....
....but sometimes you go off the deep end....
..the law of averages dictates you can't be right all of the time...take criticism gracefully....
I notice Griesa is back-peddling....did you foresee that...nothing to do with his criticism in the NY Times then...the article you dismissed as a paid one from a nobody that distinctly highlighted bond differences and his lack of understanding.
...lo and behold a short time later, he addresses it....coincidence or what?

    Jul 29th, 2014 - 12:18 pm - Link - Report abuse 0
  • yankeeboy

No its not coincidence, Citi was at the hearing brought up the differences and he specified that his ruling only was meant for the bonds issued under NY Law.
He wrote the clarification so no-harm no-foul.

    Nobody is infallible.

    @141
you obviously don't read Venezuelan press much then. Apparently Chavez was less infallible than Jesus Christ. In fact, the appointment of a South American Pope was the result of the soul of Chavez entering Heaven and 'influencing' Christ.
Maduro actually said this in a public speech to the nation.
    hmm...
The Truth is out there! (perhaps!)
