Members of Venezuela's Socialist Party have rolled out a variation of the classic Christian “Lord's Prayer” to implore beloved late leader Hugo Chavez for protection from the evils of capitalism.
“Our Chavez who art in heaven, the earth, the sea and we delegates,” red-shirted delegate Maria Estrella Uribe recited at the PSUV party Congress. Read full article

    @3

Yo may laugh but this is getting seriously out of control now. Did you know that the ruling Party will help organise a free tattoo of Chavez' likeness for you?
    from last year,
These People Are Actually Getting Tattoos of Hugo Chavez....
    http://thisisfusion.tumblr.com/post/47800168208/these-people-are-actually-getting-tattoos-of-hugo
    more recently
Thousands Line Up to Inscribe the “Mark” of Chavismo
    http://thisisfusion.tumblr.com/post/47800168208/these-people-are-actually-getting-tattoos-of-hugo

I have provided two links of over a year apart to show that this is a growing phenomenom.

Will the day come if when you can only get flour and soap if you are carrying 'the mark' of a true believer, the mark of the beast?

Interestingly this 'fashion' is not so popular amongst the ruling elites and rich and powerful Boli-garchs. Yet they positively encourage it amongst the 'lower orders'.
Does anyone remember when the Minister for Education accidently let slip that they didn't want 'too much education' for the workers children in case they grew up and went to university and joined the middle-class protestors?
Now they are convincing them to be branded like cattle.

    Sick, sick stuff.

Soon thousands of refugees will be swarming into Colombia...

@5 Some savvy person could start painting Chavez's face on the inside of toilet bowls and start selling them.
And they still have supporters of this chump.
I guess we have the same here with La campora.

Our Chavez which aren't in heaven
    Cursed be thy name
    Thy kingdom wasn't fun
    Sore was my bum
On earth as it will be in heaven
Give us this day our daily bog roll
    And give us our bribes
    For thine was like hell
    For ever and ever
    Amen

If ever evidence were needed of how bat-shit crazy these people are, here it is.

I can just imagine how pleased the Christians are to have this alternative available around the world and I wonder how the Popsicle will react to this: 5 million hail Chavez's for taking the Lord's name in vain I would imagine.

All crap though: there is no god and therefore no hell either, which if there was would surely be where Chubby would be.

Pope Francis was seen outside the pink palace making the sign of the cross towards Christina.

Diego saw this and said to his mate, “Is he giving her his blessing?”

His mate replied, “No mate, he's telling her to pack her bags and ferk off!”

The sacrilege of the Venezuelan socialist regime is abhorrent.

However, I also find #9 and #13 very offensive and certainly not amusing at all!

My sincere apology. It was not meant to offend, but instead point out the cult status her party places upon her.

Where's the pope? Is this not blasphemy? Chavez hasn't been made a saint. The closest he's got is that Chavez might be a shit. The papacy must come out and forbid this or excommunicate those who indulge. Of course, from the point of view of the world, he was a shit. How do the people of Venezuela feel? Having watched their country being wrecked by an egoist?

@17 Chicureo - Thank you, apology accepted.

La Kretina and “Santa” Evita are two phenomena of that pariah nation that is Argentina and cannot be compared with the subject of the prayer you paraphrase.

I and others predicted this iconizing of Chavez ...
the next step is the forwarding of his name for sainthood.

There was never a more appropriate case for iconoclasty.

Unsurprisingly the Archbishop of Caracas is more than a little cross about this.
    For those with Spanish
    https://cloud-1409646604-cache.cdn-cachefront.net/contundente-comunicado-del-arzobispado-de-caracas-en-rechazo-al-uso-del-chavez-nuestro/

Some fanatics have been calling for sainthood since before his death!
In the street markets it is quite normal to paintings of Chavez and Jesus Christ together in the same picture. Representations of Chavez as a christ like figure etc. Books and pamphlet s promoting the concept that Chavez was a 'twin' of christ are available. That his failed coup and imprisonment then election are equivalents to crucifixion and resurrection. In Caracas, high up on the side of tower blocks giant images of his likeness stare down over the population. In other places giant graphics of his eyes and eye brows are painted subtitled with Chavez: Always watching.
The ruling party hands out smaller stencils of these so one can spray paint them onto your own walls. Some even do this on internal walls. ..
If this is disturbing enough, don't forget the compulsory two hours per week for ALL school children of the Principles of the Bolivarian Revolution. During these classes the deification of, and prayers to, Chavez are encouraged.
I could tell you more but I am starting to feel queasy again. ..

Thankfully not all school teachers are chavista fanatics and many do these classes, in a deliberate monotone, or even slightly sarcastically if they are sure that the parents of the pupils hate Maduro as much as they do.
    :)
