Sep 10th, 2014 - 04:11 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I hope it has a copy of the Convention of settlement, the one ratified in 1850 by Argentina and Great Britain. The one where Argentina gave up her claim to the Falklands.
Sep 10th, 2014 - 04:34 pm - Link - Report abuse 0A copy of the document detailing the surrender of all Argentine troops to her Majesties armed forces in 1982 would also be quite cool.

Sep 10th, 2014 - 08:24 pm - Link - Report abuse 0And how is your Falklands experience these days? Remind me in which building it resides... It's the one where they used to kidnap, torture and murder your own countrymen and women isn't it? lovely...
Give it until just after Christmas and the local population will be raiding your Falklands experience for anything they can sell on or burn to keep themselves warm.
How is BA these days by the way? Are you having a nice stagflation?
and how is your president? you know, TMBOA? Is she planning ANOTHER public humiliation at the UN? Or is she planning ANOTHER shopping trip to Paris?
...niño is not working - he has spare time to troll, until his next Internet bill is due.
Sep 10th, 2014 - 08:24 pm - Link - Report abuse 0What then?
Congratulations to the Falklanders on your new museum. We recently visited all four of your museums (two in Stanley, Goose Green & San Carlos) and were very impressed. Your civility and hospitality, and in particular your humility were all most appreciated and conducive to a most wonderful visit. We will certainly be back. Please do not be dismayed by, and rest assured that the odd, rather sad hater (see #1) posting here is certainly not indicative of our society in general. Just ignore or pity them; as they are certainly best suited for such.
Sep 10th, 2014 - 08:37 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Congratulations to Arg that has recently inagurated a more interesting dinamic musuem of Malvinas.

Sep 11th, 2014 - 01:05 am - Link - Report abuse 0 inagurated, dinamic ........ really? Well, congratulations for trying. Usually people are not so quick to proudly display their ignorance and prejudices.
As someone (possibly even the only one on these boards) that has actually visited both the Falklands and the new Malvinas museum, I am curious as to why you feel you have a background suitably sufficient to declare one of them superior to the other (particularly since one hasn't even been opened yet)? I found the Malvinas museum to be exceptionally bias, utterly lacking in any balance what-so-ever; to the point of being utterly embarrassing to my daughter-in-law and her family (from Rosario). An exceptionally poorly assembled showcase of pubescent propaganda. The Snow White Adventure at Disneyland is probably more historically accurate (the convenient omissions were so atrociously obvious it was comical to anyone with even the most primal historical background on the subject). And I have absolutely no dog in this race.
While we had an absolutely wonderful trip to Argentina, and met many, many exceptional people, your Malvinas museum is not something that any honest first world nation would ever be proud of, in any circumstance. Just a sad lesson in jingoistic masturbation, followed by a session of victimization. The Argentinians that I met deserve better than to be so condescendingly pandered to by their institutions.

Sep 11th, 2014 - 05:53 am - Link - Report abuse 0Oh dear. Judging from the silly, boring, hateful, egocentric & uneducated diatribes that I have seen you so consistently and (oddly) proudly post on the boards here (and that's just over the past week!), I guess I was expecting too much for you to possess the mental capabilities, or the linguistic capacity, to properly process the inclusionary description, inferred by the use of our as an attributive adjective, relative to civilized society. Human traits and characteristics should never be generalized, especially to the lowest common-denominator, even when evidence is present; however, it can be rather accurately stated that you are an ignorant, tribalistic and boorish individual; and as such you hold no interest or sport for me. Not worthy of my valuable time. It's not possible for me to dumb-down my game enough to make things interesting; as I have yet to come across a single insightful post from yourself (unlike many others on here). But by all means, have fun embarrassing yourself with your monosyllabic and moronic comments; I truly wish you were more intelligent just so you could contemplate how inadequate you sound. I have much more interesting and productive ways to spend my time. You are to be truly pitied. Mas vale solo que mal acompanado. Adios para siempre.
Ooh Carlos H sounds dishy!

Sep 11th, 2014 - 04:17 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Dear Ms. Ilsen,
Thank-you, but unfortunately, that's your first post on here that I've seen you miss the mark by an exceptionally wide margin; unless you actually have a thing for old, fat, bald, former hockey players with bum knees. If such is the case, you are probably in need of counselling, as I'm certain you can do better.
One comment concerning these Merco Press boards; while I certainly prefer lively (but respectful) debate to that of a simple echo chamber where everyone is regurgitating the same playbook, I must admit that there seems to be far too much low-brow feeding of the trolls on this side, when they are best to be ignored (not all of them, but just a chosen few; and I'm certain that you know who they are), as they appear to be completely void of adding anything insightful, ever (often just a mishmash of incoherent, guttural insults). Usually, when not acknowledged, the trolls go away (although, admittedly, I am also by no means as disciplined in this respect as I am pretending to be, or would like to be; so I guess I should not lecture).
It is a shame, because with a few notable exceptions there seems to be a rather learned group on here, and I was searching for a site to discuss (in particular) the South Atlantic; but I'm just too old and crotchety, and don't have the time to be bothered to separate the wheat from the chaff.
Anyway, have a very pleasant day; I'm off in the kayak for a week.
Dear Mr. CarlosHeadon,
Sep 11th, 2014 - 05:39 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Thank you for the courteous, and quite frankly, charming response. I will try to avoid the baiting of the trolls, but it is amusing on occasion, I must confess.
Do enjoy the kayaking, take care of those knees!

Sep 11th, 2014 - 06:16 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Me thinks that Mr CarlosHeadon is a rare breed indeed. Argentinian AND an independent thinker... He reminds me somewhat of Simon68 who I hope is still with us out there somewhere.
I for one, am looking forward to his next post.
Of course, I could be wildly off the mark with this post...... It has been known to happen you know?
I am thinking he is from a Spanish speaking country but probably not Argentina, as he speaks of a visit there. One doesn't tend to speak of ones own country in those terms.
Sep 11th, 2014 - 06:32 pm - Link - Report abuse 0He is though, in my humble opinion, a gentleman of the old school.
My apologies. I do not intend to appear be so helplessly pompous (misteriosa!). I am not Argentinean, I am (now, since 1971) Canadian; but my son has inherited a fabulous family of Argentinean in-laws this past year. My wife and I are very blessed and fortunate. We had a wonderful, spectacular visit with them, but I am so saddened concerning their outlook on life, particularly with regards to their society and future prospects. They are good, fine, honest people; disgusted by the regimen. Their young people seem to be all looking for quick exits from their society; which saddens me greatly, with such an overwhelmingly beautiful country with incredible potential; but how could one blame them, really. Yes, Ingles is my third language (Basque, Espenol), but I think I've mastered it as best as one might be expected, given my humilde background.
Sep 11th, 2014 - 11:36 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Anyway, pushing off at Port McNeil tomorrow morning. No cellular coverage for seven days, which is a mixed-blessing. Take care.

I would love to visit or work in a modern musuem like the one of Malvinas. Others are just bad copies.

The thing will likely collapse soon, so no worries.

Sep 15th, 2014 - 09:43 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Carlos is a wonderful example of those Argentines who think for themselves - a very illuminating personal account of the current affairs in Arg.
Interesting to hear about his relations and friends in Arg.
Carlos,
Tell us about the kayaking when you return, please. What a beautiful area - you had perfect weather, too!!
Just spent a long weekend North of Pemberton, around the Carpenter Lake Reservoir area - ghost towns, gold mines, spectacular mountain roads and views.
And no cell phones - peaceful.
We, on the Wet Coast, can easily access these otherworldly sites - something Voicey can only dream about from his bedsit.
Sorry, Troll-baiting again - waiting for the blustery slagging and denial response.
