as much as I dont want scotland to split, I honour their right to split.

This should be allowed to Catalonia and indeed Bavaria

Let the people decide, but they should be given facts not lies spun out of hatred and one side should not decide whoo can vote to try and swing it more in their favour

NOBODY STOLE ANYTHING FROM ANYBODY YOU TWIT!! You are a shit head if there ever was one.......

I will be in the Basque country when the Scottish vote happens, it will be interesting to see the locals reactions there.

I don't see Scotland as a direct comparison to Catalunya, which is one of the most prosperous regions in Spain. If the Scots do decide to go independent, which is their choice, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a sigificant upswell in support for independence in Orkney/Shetland. Would a hypothetical SNP ruled Scotland give them a vote? Fat chance.

what honour is there when 2-3 million Scots go to a referendum to destroy the unity of one of the greatest nations that has walked the earth!!! I am sick and tired of hearing people say that it is THEIR decision. NO!! it is not their decision it is the decision of the WHOLE COUNTRY if these 2-4 million misguided Nationalists want to destroy Great Britain because if the yes vote wins Great Britain will be weaker without any doubt!!! due to the vote of 2.3 MILLION individuals who will be remembered for the destruction of Great Britain!!!

*5 As you probably know the proposed Basque referendum of 2008 was prevented by the Spanish government..The Basque nationalist party took the case to the European Court Of Human Rights where again it was shot down by the courts.....

If people want their own Country ....why should anybody object?
Would be great to see an independent Catalan Nation. As for Scotland it is absolutely up to them. They will be similar to Ireland with a few more natural resources and an interest in the future of Northern Ireland.
As for England we'll just sit back and get richer.

Catalonia is going to vote yes. No need to be concerned. Free of the Spanish deadbeats the new Nation will thrive which might even be good for parts of Spain.

You Spanish oppressors shall not be allowed to prevail. Freedom for Catalonia has the support of all freedom loving people of the World. Spain will have no alternative but to comply.

The simple fact that Scotland gets the referendum even if they eventually vote no, will be enough to stir up the Catalans.

    See the ultimate paragraph.
“The price of Spanish government bonds is falling. ..”

Just follow the money, Spain is very frightened of all this and the markets can always smell fear.

    Settle down children.

Scottish vote will return a no.
(thats not my preference, its just what will happen)

Catalan vote wont happen - and if it did it too would either be a no, or a brief independence shortly followed by collapse of Catalonia.

Catalonia should be promised a referendum by Spain at a more prosperous time. A phail would follow at that time and that will effectively extinguish their movement.

SNP went too far in one leap - should have played it out, devomax now and independence in a decade or two.

Catalonia is the wealthiest area of Spain-they would not collapse.

it is not a rejunte of little countries like the uk

15 - Wealthiest now. Much of its associated with Spain. Catalonia itself lacking any real natural resources. The world does business with Spain - it doesn't know what a Catalonia is.
Almost reverse case for Scotland. Although Scotland wont be independent a week from now either. Due to an understandable lack of confidence/baws.

    16.
Im sure that if London was as imperialistic and shitty as Madrid they would have also fund a legal argument to prevent the Scots having a referendum. Spain is too a collection of Kingdoms in a way.

More than half a million Catalans don't care about what the Constitution says, apparently.
You really don't get it, do you?
Laws only work if people agree to abide by them.
Did you ever study the concept of a Social Contract at university?
In moral and political philosophy, the social contract or political contract is a theory or model, originating during the Age of Enlightenment, that typically addresses the questions of the origin of society and the legitimacy of the authority of the state over the individual. Social contract arguments typically posit that individuals have consented, either explicitly or tacitly, to surrender some of their freedoms and submit to the authority of the ruler/ elected government.
Hugo Grotius (1625), Thomas Hobbes (1651), Samuel Pufendorf (1673), John Locke (1689), Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1762), and Immanuel Kant (1797) are among the most prominent of 17th- and 18th-century theorists of social contract and natural rights.

Obviously none of them were Argentine scholars....

If people don't believe in, or refuse to obey their own laws, or elected government, the status quo quckly becomes irrelevant. Just ask those at the Boston Tea Party. “No taxation without proper representation”. That is how the Catalans feel.
Hope that helps with your ongoing education?
    *sighs with despair*

“More than half a million Catalans don't care about what the Constitution says, apparently.

There are +/- 8 million people living in Catalonia.
If +/- 500k do not agree with their own Carta Magna, the first step would be to vote to change it, or to vote for an amendment and not the declaration of independence per se.
You still don´t get it, no?

    Imbeciles 20/ 21
It is a question of respecting their own Constitutions, you halfwits.
Scotland can determine their own independence because their Constitution allows them.
It would be as if the state of Rio Grande do Sul votes their independence. They can´t.
    Got it now?

Finally, I have, like most of us, a lot of ancestries, luckily none of them jewish.

Are you retarded or its just on Sundays?? There is no such thing as a Scottish constitution. Westminster could have well changed the constitution and the laws prohibiting the vote at any given moment. But they didn't.

If its about me well, have no Jewish blood, but if I would it would be a honor. Luckily my ancestor under the orders of Emperor of the French slaughtered many of your cowardly spanish ones.

“There is no such thing as a Scottish constitution”, says the imbecile...

“In the UK a wide range of Acts can be considered constitutional,
including those that devolved powers to Scotland, Wales and Northern
Ireland, such as the Scotland Act 1998”, says their government...

About your ancestors, as far as I know, all of them were converted in soap.
Or in lab rats for the zyklon b formula.

    25. No, there is no Scottish constitution you retard.

Its a matter of good faith and will of the British gov't that gives the Scots the chance to vote in 4 days over independence. Its a matter of bad faith of the spanish that the Catalans cant vote. It has nothing to do with laws.

The Scottish vote is a celebration of democracy. The result will of course be respected, whoever wins. If the answer is NO then I suspect there will be another vote in another 20 years.
Catalonia should seize the day, organise their popular vote and finally throw off Spanish oppression.
