A group of Argentine lawmakers will be travelling next month to the UK, on an official visit to meet with British officials and members of Parliament, a trip which has been described as 'historic' because it is a 'first time' since the end of the South Atlantic conflict such an invitation is extended. Sep 24th, 2014 - 06:32 am - Link - Report abuse 0If Filmus starts with his usual insulting rhetoric, he should be given short shrift and thrown out of any meeting!
Sep 24th, 2014 - 07:00 am - Link - Report abuse 0Would be a good idea as when the Argie delegation enter the room to discuss the FALKLANDS that members of the FALKLANDS Government are there to greet them, what a hoot that would be.
Sep 24th, 2014 - 07:44 am - Link - Report abuse 0So funny that Argentina has to travel half way around the world in a futile attempt to speak to its next door neighbours.
Sep 24th, 2014 - 08:12 am - Link - Report abuse 0I wonder if they ever feel stupid doing trips like this. I mean nothing has gone their way regarding the Falkland Islands since 1832.
Surely the perfect opportunity: Sit down and just as we are about to open discussions, have the UK delegation leave and elected representatives of the people of the Falklands take their place.
Sep 24th, 2014 - 08:36 am - Link - Report abuse 0This should all be filmed, so should the Argies walk it they cannot claim anything else.
The first comment from the Falkland Islanders should be: 99.8% of the people of the Falklands voted to stay under British protection, so we now formally request to leave the UN decolonization list.
I guess they've seen the writing on the wall at home and they're going for one last shopping trip in London (on taxpayers money, naturally) before they head to the Ecuadorian embassy for sanctuary.
Sep 24th, 2014 - 08:37 am - Link - Report abuse 0No server at Buenos Aires Herald, must be something the Ks didn't like.
Sep 24th, 2014 - 08:58 am - Link - Report abuse 0They know there will be no talks without the Islanders.
Sep 24th, 2014 - 09:03 am - Link - Report abuse 0They know the UK did not vote with them at the UN.
So just exactly what do they hope to achieve with the vist?
It's all for domestic consumption they will twist and propagandise it back in Argentina, but it change or mean a thing here. Where it counts.
Vulture funds they have a point.
Sep 24th, 2014 - 09:05 am - Link - Report abuse 0Falklands no point at all.
Well, I suppose that it will make a change for the Falkland Islanders to be told (indirectly, as Argentina seems unable to acknowledge their existence) that they're an implanted population by the son of a Moldovan immigrant rather than the son of a Ukrainian immigrant.
Sep 24th, 2014 - 09:13 am - Link - Report abuse 0Aside from that, nothing new...
Very shrewd timing indeed. Oxford street can be a complete mare once the the Christmas season gets into full swing come November time.
Sep 24th, 2014 - 09:16 am - Link - Report abuse 0How does Filmus qualify as a lawmaker ? He didn't get voted in.
Sep 24th, 2014 - 09:45 am - Link - Report abuse 0@12
Sep 24th, 2014 - 10:22 am - Link - Report abuse 0Wrong terminology, the word is lawbreaker he qualifies no doubt.
I wouldn't worry about this visit too much. In response the BBC has sent Jeremy Clarkson and his gang to film their Top Gear Christmas special in Argentina. Rumour has it he's been told to be on his best behaviour so I've no doubt he'll end up being deported by the end of it.
Sep 24th, 2014 - 10:56 am - Link - Report abuse 0Falkland delegation should be in London ready and willing to talk to Filmus. And, the Argentinians should be filmed spitting their lies and bile. Wipe the floor with them and send them home with their tails between their legs.
Sep 24th, 2014 - 11:12 am - Link - Report abuse 0?????
Sep 24th, 2014 - 11:21 am - Link - Report abuse 0It really shows the good character of the British to allow these scumbags a voice in their country.
Sep 24th, 2014 - 11:24 am - Link - Report abuse 0Its akin to US Senators meeting with a bunch of Iranians or North Koreans. I don't see that ever happening.
interesting that Argentina spend most of its time slagging the British of, and all seem to agree that the British are pirates,
Sep 24th, 2014 - 11:33 am - Link - Report abuse 0yet wish to come here for legal advice and help.
why ??
Well, well, the gang's all here (or it will be in October).
Sep 24th, 2014 - 12:08 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Castro will no doubt manage to make herself look the complete arse that she is and Film-Us-Now will probably evacuate his pants (boxer shorts for our Yank friends) if somebody from the Falklands 'suddenly' arrives on the scene.
What the Inter-parliamentarian Union are expecting is anybodies guess: what a shame they will be disappointed.
Dear Argentine lawmakers,
Sep 24th, 2014 - 12:27 pm - Link - Report abuse 0under the rules of extinctive prescription, you are required to take a sovereignty case to court within 20-30 years. Since the world court system started in 1922, you have thereby acquiesced to British possession and therefore no longer have a legal case. Your time was up in 1952.
You might also want to take a look at 'Immemorial Possession' and 'Conquest and Subjugation' the latter is how Argentina legally obtained title to Patagonia. Please don't harp on about the right to self-determination not being applicable as that old chestnut was killed off by the 2010 Kosovo Advisory opinion where the ICJ clarified, in para 80, 'that the scope for territorial integrity is limited to the relationship between individual states and does not impinge on the right to self-determination.'
• The people of the Falkland Islands CHOOSE to be British. If Argentina wants to be called a democracy, they should respect the democratic rights of the people of those islands, many of whom have ancestors who lived there long before Argentina even existed as a country!
Sep 24th, 2014 - 12:46 pm - Link - Report abuse 0One of Agrentina's main arguments is based on geography, but taking the above into consideration, doesn't that give the Falkland Islanders more claim over Argentinian territory than the other way round? Flawed logic perhaps, but no more flawed than Argentina claiming to be democratic while attempting to impose a dictatorship on people who clearly want nothing to do with them, basing their right to impose such a dictatorship solely on geographical location.
Go down that route and we might as well let Russia rebuilt the Soviet Union.
.
A failing CFK Argentine government needs to make these gestures; just to keeping some embers glowing. Mixing the political bowl with all sorts of ingredients, with Falklands as part of the mix; the delegation is bound to return to Argentina with results based on the casuistry of half-truths.
Sep 24th, 2014 - 12:46 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Does anyone know if they are selling tickets for this ? I have my own beer and pop corn .
Sep 24th, 2014 - 03:05 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Clarkson will definitely upset someone with one of his comments .I would love to be there too .
@9. Vulture funds? You mean as opposed to corrupt, criminal, dishonest, mendacious, thieving argieland. The argie thieving set-up scam. Argieland has declared war on the civilised world. It must be ended!
Sep 24th, 2014 - 03:08 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@22. The question is whether the British people will let the argie scum out of the country in one piece.
According to Capitanich Argentinas economic problems are Germanys fault today: http://www.buenosairesherald.com/article/170564/govt-fires-back-at-atfa-germanys-finance-minister-over-debt-battle
Sep 24th, 2014 - 03:37 pm - Link - Report abuse 0When will they finish trawling down the alphabet for culprits and get back to A where the fault really lies?
My guess is that a Falkland Iskands delegation will be there at the same time, there will be NO discussions taking place on their home without them being present.
Sep 24th, 2014 - 03:38 pm - Link - Report abuse 0But seriously what does Argentina have left other than these desperate acts.
Maybe they will be shown around HMS Queen Elizabeth for a little food for thought.
The hold outs who are really to blame for Argentina's problems are the ones who hold out their hands for :
Sep 24th, 2014 - 04:15 pm - Link - Report abuse 01 ) Social plans for sitting at home doing fuck all all day other than having more children , so they can claim yet more benefits
2 ) The children and alleged children of people who allegedly disappeared in the 70's who are given generous stipends and in some cases , government posts .
3 ) Former Montoneros and Erpistas who are given stipends for having kidnapped , bombed and murdered people in the 70's .
4 ) Mothers and grandmothers of the disappeared and the alleged disappeared who are given stipends and government posts and who then steal U$S300 MILLION of public funds . ( Google Schoklender or Bonafini )
5 ) All the trolls on here who are paid out of public funds
6 ) The piqueteros , who get paid to disrupt normal daily life by blocking highways , occupying offices and factories or generally intimidating the decent normal population .
The list is endless , but suffice to say there are so many fleas on the dog's back that it's amazing it still has any blood coursing through its veins at all .
Save the trip to London. Here's our position on the Falklands.
Sep 24th, 2014 - 06:18 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It's up to the islanders. That is all.
And as for the holdouts: we kind of agree with you but are not likely to do you any favours whilst you keep threatening our citizens.
This will be interesting. A full delegation of Falkland Islands MLAs in attendance with the MPs, then the Argies walk out (as they did last time) so they can do their Christmas shopping.
Sep 24th, 2014 - 06:50 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It would also be useful for the MPs to invite delegates from NML and the other hedge funds to put their point of view on the Argie's illegal attempts to circumvent US law.
I find it puzzling indeed that the MPs are even considering the meetings, as others have pointed this would be like the United States inviting the North Koreans, the Iranians, Al-Qaeda and ISIL to a sit down.
Not only has Argentina ignored and tried to make life difficult for the Islanders, but also disregard their legal rights as a people.
If these Argie politicians want to 'talk sovereignty' maybe we should invite the Amerindians as well to discuss the ownership of the lands the Argentine Government colonised by rape, murder and genocide.
Then we can have the Falkland Islands taken off the decolonisation list, whilst Patagonia is put onto it!

Sep 24th, 2014 - 08:51 pm - Link - Report abuse 0There is nothing wrong with helping out victims of a cruel dictatorship. But the Whacky Leadership is setting the stage for another one with their gross mismanagement of their economy. That's the scary part...
Who told me there aren't EUians??
Sep 25th, 2014 - 01:18 am - Link - Report abuse 0https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDnQQkwrboA
Seem EUian enough to me.
On the issue of the question of the Malvinas, although the Argentine delegation has pledged to insist on the need for sovereignty talks, ...
Sep 25th, 2014 - 08:06 am - Link - Report abuse 0Argentina's desire for sovereignty talks will be welcomed by both the British and Falkland Islands Governments. The (very numerous) argie delegation will, no doubt, use this golden opportunity to renounce their historic but fraudulent claim to the Falklands, apologise for past mistreatment of the Islanders and negotiate a suspension of the trade and communication embargos that are currently imposed against the Islanders.
They will also correct the historical geographical error that places the Malvinas in the same spot as the Falklands.
Then it will be up to the FIG to decide if it wants to accept the argentine surrender at this time.
Surely at some point in their visit, there should be a presentation to the Argentinian delegation on the real history of the falklands, by someone who knows their stuff and can refute the Argentinian lies. When they start the 'Malvinas' rhetoric, it should be met head on with 'Qualified, factual and backed up counter argument'.
Sep 25th, 2014 - 09:43 am - Link - Report abuse 0the UK government of Falkland governement should at least be issuing a 'history of the falklands' resume to the politicians that are likely to meet the Argentinians, so they cannot be hood winked into believing their lies and rhetoric.
they should go home with the truth on their back
Sep 25th, 2014 - 06:30 pm - Link - Report abuse 0and total embarrassment on their faces.lol
This is hilarious!
Sep 25th, 2014 - 09:43 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I can't wait for the standard issue press release when they leave, and then oops! Ummm...... errrr......etc.
I am definitely bringing popcorn to this clown show. They are going to make utter fools of themselves. The UK Government will welcome them with smiles. The UK Government will be polite and civilised.
But will not move one millimetre on The Falklands rights to self determination.
They will just allow the Argentine Government to prove to the world just how inept they truly are, and then send them on their way.
Does anyone really think that the British Establishment would just naively invite these crooks to London for a cosy chat.
I expect there is a serious game plan behind this.
:-)))
Unless the argentines are totally stupid, they must know in advance that we wont talk unless the Falkland's are represented,
Sep 26th, 2014 - 10:46 am - Link - Report abuse 0so if the argentine delegation is aware of this, then it must be the freebies they have come for,
popcorn at the ready then..

The police had better put a tail on them when they visit Oxford Street. I suspect that there will be a lot of shop-lifting going on!
