Those baffled by the Argentine economy could do worse than listen to Puff Daddy. Ask what ails the country and the answer will echo the rapper’s ode to the 100-dollar bill, “It’s all about the Benjamins”. Read full article

A good article telling us how it is in reality.

It's about time the government in Argentina realised that you can't control an economy or market forces with political ideology. If you could then the USSR would still be in existence.

Time to wake up and smell the coffee, but I fear it's probably too late. A complete economic meltdown is inevitable at this point, assisted along by the government's insane economic policies.

Of course the government will not be affected. They'll quite happily be living off their stolen billions.

Nobody hates argentina like Cristina and Kicillof. Destructive. Don't make the mistake of calling them suicidal. They have enriched themselves with the hunger and misery of the country they swindled. It's not an accident. It's not a failed attempt at socialism. This woman with her ridiculous speeches praising Peron is satiring Argentine history, putting Evita's face on a bill during hyperinflation and exchange controls. Kirchnerism was made to generate destruction. It did. We soon shall see what ww3 will be like in Argentina. Its effects in Brazil are on hold with the media because of the fraud election taking place.

Is this the same the economist that said Spain would have to look for employees abroad by 2014? I still remember the title of that article en español “Todas las manos, todas”

This paper is one of the many run by the blood suckers from wall street, the very same that defrauded the American working class.
And you still believe what day say.

@7 The whole thing is hilarious. If they had just ignored it they would have looked so much more classy. Instead they invent a reason to be offended conveniently forgetting they started the war and lost spectacularly.

Interesting to find that they are so sensitive about losing the war they can find humilation in anything.

As for those ships.....since 9/22? Wow......nothing to say on that.....lol.

One thing I want to mention is that the quality of the Rg posters has really gone down hill.
I think we're on the D or F squad and are just about at rock bottom.

The only tactic they have now is whataboutery, throw off the conversation and hope for the best and snipe snipe snipe

It is sad, a few years ago you could actually get some good feedback and back and forth but now its just painful reading their posts.

They must know the collapse is imminent and have just given up all pretence of being balanced.

    Like their glorious leader.

Argentina under CFK will collapse and break up into smaller manageable portions by 2020,

and the real people will hopefully have a real honest government,

except of course the portion that will still have the old worn and fragile CFK in charge...lol

@12 Do you remember the hobby one that used to go on and on about book shops? I had to bring some text books to a friend in Buenos Aires - they had tried everywhere and couldn't get them but I ordered them on Amazon and had them delivered in 24 hours to take with me. This same mouthy one used to go on and on about how they had never had it so good and Argentina was growing and everyone was happy. Remember? I wonder where they went?

Ushuaia, the end of the world, literally. A dismal rain soaked grey dump inhabited by the fag end of the human race.

I don't agree about Ushuaia. Admittedly it is not an attractive town and it does rain a lot, almost every day, but the scenery is incredible. I was looking at some photographs I took there and it is stunning. Most of it is actually Chile, but you can see it all from Ushuaia.

I would agree that the scenery in the Tierra del Fuego park is great (except the beaver ravaged parts) but the town has a dismal air. To be greeted by a crowd of RG knuckle draggers burning tyres is not nice. Perhaps I should submit a review on Tripadvisor?

Looking forward to the Top Gear episode, should be a corker. Perhaps Clarkson should move on to the post of British Ambassador?

@27 Yup, the town has a transient air. Which it true because over 90% of the local population come from elsewhere in Argentina and live there short-term for higher wages and no tax.

I probably mentioned that I asked a local chap what they did for entertainment and he boasted a cinema and dancing on Saturday night. He paused and then said, “But mostly we have affairs”. He should take up philately.

What is the betting the thugs are not veterans at all but part of Fat Max's army?

Argentine “war veterans” appear to be the same as Zimbabwe War Veterans....

funny thing is there just so very many of them... most of the argentine population in fact...

i mean, it cant just be busloads of thugs being shipped around to the relevant places because THAT would just be so... corrupt.

The simple question to be asked is “why doesnt Argentinian politicians just run their country properly?”

Why falsify figures, adopt outside currencies, shit on the general population, steal money from the people's coffers, use the Falklands as some sort of banner when they never had any claim over it anyway, run the national airlin einto the ground?

The only conclusion you come to is that:

    1. the population let them get away with it, and
    2. they clearly feel fuckall to their own country.

    Sad.

How is it that the Argentina press states that Clarkson and the crew carried on filming and makes no mention that they where attacked or escorted to the airport.
    http://www.buenosairesherald.com/article/171289/%E2%80%98malvinas-plate%E2%80%99-controversy

the crew should nave painted malvinas englasis on the sides of the car or given it the number plate we 1 if they wanted to upset them.
But this has got me thinking that my number plate could upset the people of Argentina ( V160 TUR )think they will just read anything into it

Should have used a more modern registration, like LO 5 ERS.

That would have been more appropriate for these “ veterans?”
