    The new campaigning in Brasil.

    Suddenly during the PT rally, as if by magic, a new poll is announced that reveals the scandal-burdened incumbent is miraculously ahead by a few points in the poll results.

    It is announced as though it just was taken, coincidentally during the rally, with the resulting cheers of the faithful masses. All other scandals and transgressions are forgiven, as the “polls ” always speak the “truth”, and can never lie.

    At least that is what the PT say, until this coming Sunday.

    BOTINHO it mus be you who is not in Brasil. Otherwise you would be well acquainted with the fact that DataFolha would announce such optinistic information only grudgingly. Folha is a huge enemy of the PT and was before any of VEJA's accusations. and it certainly kills their souls to see these results. No magic involved. The numbers of people who would not vote for Aceio, NO WAY are his fault. And people are final getting the word that Aecio, handsome, but more style, no substance is the one under official accusation for documented theft of state funds for private gain, while the “scandal-burdened incumbent” is confronting all those issues head on.

    Fbear -

    Thus far, the polls have been wrong, as documented with the news services you dislike, starting with O Globo. They do not match in any way to the actual voting.

    Tonight the polls state that the two candidates are now within 1 point of each other. Neves has gained voting share dramatically.

    Is that incorrect too ? Or is the actual number a landslide for Dilma ?

    The real issue is not appearance, but more voter dissatisfaction with massive amounts skimmed off and taken by the PT. Petrobras is just one example, and given the large scale, it dwarfs the previous scandals revealed in this administration.

    No need to be pedantic, but for your information, Petrobras lost billions of dollars on an oil refinery in Pernambuco and spent $1bn on a plant in Texas – signed off by Dilma Rousseff that was sold on two years later at a markdown of 80%.

    But to you and the PT skimming lackeys, this receives a pass.

    The “ scandal burdened incumbent ” as you say is not discovering, or investigating these charges head on. She is as you say being confronted by the charges, AFTER they have been discovered and reported on by others. Others like Veja that you claim are spreading lies and falsehoods.

    And where does the money skimmed from Pertobras and others going ? To party rallies and meetings ? Guess again.

    Condominiums in Europe ? Yes. Mega-Yachts ? Yes. Off-shore personal bank accounts? Yes. That has all been documented by the PF so far.

    I don't want to live in Venezuela, with graft, skimming, mismanagement, and corruption ruining Petrobras. It is not a cow to be milked by the PT for personal gain, until it runs dry and dies. Just look North to Caracas if you want to see the effects of mismanaged government. No goose-stepping radicals in red shirt and berets, running an oil rich country into the dirt are needed here.

    That is not our reality.

    .Time for a change.

    Its official. This election has crossed the line. It appears that Danny Glover supports Dilma and Lindsay Lohan supports Aecio. I'm not sure how much these endorsements are worth.

    I cannot thank you enough for that shocking and disturbing news, intended no doubt to change my voting plans this Sunday in our elections. But unfortunately it won't result in me hiding under my bed.

    Related to those articles, I in turn offer you something that will no doubt appeal to you:

    Hepatia, it was well publicized here that Danny Glover had received a large grant for a movie from Hugo Chavez and was one of his biggest supporters.

    He should return to his former franchise of Hollywood French Fries.

    The polls on last Sunday night, before the last Presidential candiadates debate on TV7, , showed Aécio 2 points ahead of Dilma....On Monday morning, without time to have conducted new polls, 'rumours' had it that Dilma was 'suddenly' 2 points ahead of Aécio. How ??? Had a look at the polling companies, to see who they are run by...guess what ?? 3 out of the 4 of them, are run by rabid “petistas”, who apparently, besides their gross 'errors' in the first round, are manipulating the data to influence the people who are still undecided...it's hard to believe that at this point , about 10% of the population are still in doubt ....can this number be true ? ... well, reckon we'll all find out on Sunday night.
    @6 Hippy
    Those endorsements aren't worth a bucket of puke. As BOTINHO says, he should go back to his french fries biz.

    I seem to remember a group of people, including Danny Glover, went down to Venezuela a number of years ago. I see no problem with that. Do you have a point?

    I assume that because you have not mentioned Lindsey Lohan that you have accepted her endorsement.

    Another for you By the way, I don't get my information from the likes of Danny Glover or ESPECIALLY drugged out Lindsay Lohan, Nor do I believe that PT is trying to import Cuban troops to infiltrate Brasil, looking like doctors, as some idiot on her has rumored. My wife has seen one of the Cuban doctors, whom she pronounced extremely competent and knowledgeable and medically a professional. She also said recently that if he is a military infiltrator, he might as well go home. Not military material.

    http://noticias.r7.com/eleicoes-2014/minas-gerais/justica-mantem-minas-como-reu-em-acao-de-uso-indevido-de-r-3-bi-na-gestao-aecio-29072014

    I personally don't care how you vote. If things get bad here, I can always go back to the US, though I argue against the same government philosophy there that you want here: political control in the hands of the few rich people. who diver funds almost without concealing, for their own and family benefit.

    I see things this way, there is not much to recommend almost any politician, but if PT can steal as much money as rumors and wishful thinking would tell us and STILL make the progress for ALL Brasil in 12 years, I say AMEN and bless their hearts.

    No need for further discussion. Nothing between us will change. I think your vote is ill conceived and you and Jack Bauer (odd name - must be like conservative torturer in 24) who is always predictable prepared to badmouth so many issues, will can be prepared to do a little dance on the grave of the whisper of democracy for Brasil. But then, it HAS had a more oligarchic/dictator type history, and so the noble experiment could conceivable end with the Sunday vote. I have only one big of advice. Enjoy the dance, I will be very short and then the bill from the orchestra will be enormous.

    http://en.mercopress.com/2014/10/21/brazil-s-dilma-slightly-ahead-show-two-opinion-polls-released-on-monday#comment360409: Irrespective of whether Aecio wins or Dilma wins the real winner is Lula - or, more exactly, the principles that Lula has promoted in 2002 and subsequently. Going back to the Brazil Cardoso or previous administrations is not an option. The contest between the teo candidates mainly boils down to who can implement the 'Lula paradigm' most competently.

    I have been around long enough to have known the military governments. In that context I don't view that tight race as a symptom. of a collapse of democracy. On the contrary. In any case I am more concerned about the Congress than the Presidency.

    @10Fbear
    For someone who has little experience of Brazil, you sure do blow a lot of hot air. And if your wife has consulted with one of the Cuban doctors, good for her...and you...free medical consultation, a cost which comes out of taxpayer contributions...something which you are probably not too familiar with.
    As to your opinion about the name Jack Bauer , torturer, and 'little dance on the grave of the whisper of democracy for Brasil', it's a sign that you too, are brainwashed. And your belief that the “bolivarian” dream is not a nightmare , is very convenient for you, after all , your statement “I can always go back to the US” says it all....you have no commitment with Brazil's future, you're just a free-loader passing through. But when BO and his liberal democrat cronies succeed in turning the US into a Bolivarian dream as well, where you going run to ? Cuba ?
    And just one final correction, for your benefit : the money stolen by the PT over the last 12 years in NO rumour...it actually happened and still is happening ; I suppose that to you, the “mensalão” never existed, Petrobrás has not been the victim of stealing and bad management - even though Dilma has admitted it, the US never landed a man on the moon...what else doesn't you small brain accept ?? May I suggest you google “Decreto Lei 8.243 / 2014”.......if you are capable of understanding its implications, you'll see it has little to do with true democracy.
