Unasur (Union of South American Nations) chairman Ernesto Samper cautioned that recent oil and gas discoveries outside the region, a weaker demand for commodities from China and Europe and the 'evident strengthening' of the US dollar anticipate a slowdown of the region's economy. Read full article

Unasur, yet another bunch of deadheaded 'politicians' who just cannot help themselves but lecture to people who do not want to hear the message.

Take this for example:
“Samper has offered Unasur to help recover dialogue between the Venezuelan opposition and government, and to contribute to the peace process in Colombia, once the current negotiations between the government of Colombia and the FARC guerrilla are over.
So far, he said, we have not received replies to these offers”

Really, I am underwhelmed.

”The objective of Latin America should be to overcome the slowdown situation by launching “an ambitious re-industrialization process”.

Good luck with that. To do that requires workers who work and 'rulers' who don't steal.

I bet he couldn't name ONE SA country that would meet these requirements, including, I am very sorry to say, Uruguay.

Why has unasur said this? The 'region'is already at a standstill. How many SA countries are already going backwards? SA needs to be divided up into proper occupied 'countries'. Who could occupy? The UK and USA, obviously. Perhaps Norway and Sweden. I wonder about the 'Southern Principality of Gibraltar'? France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain obviously know nothing about running 'countries'. But a lovely new approach. China or Russia want to attack? Herd the south americans forward. Pick a suitable slogan. How about 'Fight for the Glorious Decade/Party/President'! Dumb as they come. Distinguish between south ams and Franco's Spaniards, Hitler's Germans, Mussolini's Italians, Stalin's Russians, Mao's Chinese. All just mindless sheep to be sacrificed. Then let them be sacrificed for something worthwhile. Against the Chinese, ISIL and the Russians. Instead of sitting on the sidelines trying to figure the angles.
