Spanish Foreign Ministry briefings to media designed to reinforce Spain’s assertion that the Tripartite Talks are dead were challenged this weekend by the UK Government. In an unusual move Simon Manley, the British Ambassador to Spain, wrote to El Pais to correct their report which suggested that the ad hoc talks were a new phase of dialogue replacing the tripartite talks and that UK had changed its position on talks. Oct 29th, 2014 - 02:05 pm - Link - Report abuse 0UKIP have pledged to base as many forces in Gibraltar as necessary to deal with Spain and are talking of integrating all BOTs with the UK.
However I have little doubt that a UKIP government would re direct aid currently sent to ungrateful countries, to BOTs to help them develop.
Spain will therefore not want UKIP in power.
Note the EU is trying to scrounge nearly£ 2 billion (that's extra) off the UK.
How come Spain aren't contributing as much , as you say they are richer than the UK?
Do you really think the EU will say good riddance to the UK when in the next few years we are likely to be second only to Germany in contributions to the EU?
Mind you, if UK leaves EU, I expect Spain will have to turn from scrounger to contributor, as the money will have to come from other countries when the UK leaves.
fatty pigcardo should understand that neither gibraltar nor him have the entity required to have a talk about foreign relationships.
Oct 29th, 2014 - 02:20 pm - Link - Report abuse 0thats why they have the foreign office.
it seems the fatty pig do not understand that they are a colony, not a sovereign country.

Oct 29th, 2014 - 04:56 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Where you born this stupid or did your parents continue schooling you in their attributes?
When the UK pulls out of the EU, all the present borders will become fixed and Spain will lose a great deal of money from the UK contributions which the UK will no longer have to make.
So win, win, all round.
For all the bluff and bluster Spain will NOT want the UK out of the EU, but even you know that, don’t you.
Now run away and practice making stupid remarks.
@ 4 POLLY
I will post your own views back to you: you are NOT a Brit, you do NOT live in Gibraltar, so you ‘cannot opine’.

Oct 30th, 2014 - 05:28 am - Link - Report abuse 0Yup old spanish sunshine can't comprehend that:
a) The UK is a net contributor to the EU - for sunshines benefit that means the UK pay more into the EU than it gets out of it.
b) The UK imports more goods from other EU countries (especially Spain) than it exports to them.
So if the UK did leave the EU what would it actually change? Well in regards to point a) the UK would have more money to spend elsewhere - lets say on defence and BOT's. And to point b) the UK could still buy from other EU countries, but as we wouldn't be tied down by EU trade agreements we could also shop elsewhere - which means that the UK could actually get cheaper imports from outside the EU or the EU countries would have to drop their prices.
Either way it's a win-win for the UK and a big lose-lose to the EU.
And if the UK leaves the EU, how long would it be until other countries, who are fed up of bankrolling failed economies, pull out too?

Oct 30th, 2014 - 10:15 pm - Link - Report abuse 0We are leaving don't worry, it won't be long now and the EU won't be able to blame the UK for all its problems any more. Who is going to be paying more I wonder when we go. Is Spain going to step up to the plate, cos right now they take way, way more than they contribute.
I'm not sure how much you know about the EU, I can assure you that the UK leaving is the absolute last thing they want, the sad truth is for the EU that the UK is their biggest international asset. They don't like us at all, but they need us and they need our money. The next six months should be very interesting on this subject.
Vote UKIP.
