The Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) has again failed to agree to protect key areas in the Ross Sea and East Antarctica at its annual meeting in Hobart due to blocking by China and Russia. The partners of the Antarctic Ocean Alliance (AOA) said that this failure to reach consensus for the fourth time calls into question CCAMLR’s ability to deliver on its conservation commitments. and what the fuck have china and russia got to do with the antártida?
Nov 01st, 2014 - 01:40 pm - Link - Report abuse 0nothing.
in the same way, neither england nor the uk nor the european union have a shite to do with it.
the antártida belongs to the southernmost countries of the southern hemisphere, that is argentina, chile, australia and new zealand.
none of your business, you northern hemisphere countries.
@3
Nov 01st, 2014 - 02:16 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Tsk tsk, paulie, the UK is a southern hemisphere country and has been one for longer than Argentina.
tsktsk hansie
Nov 01st, 2014 - 02:23 pm - Link - Report abuse 0the uk is in northern europe, you genius.
don´t you even have 1 (one) map there in the islets?
Antarctica is as much one countries as the moon is the USA's It's an area of scientific research. Even your country PC signed the treaty to respect it for science.......ironically Russia signed onto that treaty and yet they block it from being protected.

Nov 01st, 2014 - 02:37 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Come, come, paulie, look at a proper map. You'll see that the UK has territory in both the Northern and Southern hemispheres. Some Argentines seem to be under the impression that the whole Southern hemisphere should belong exclusively to the colonial descendants of the conquistadors, but there is no legal or even logical basis to that belief.
To follow on from Hans@7...
Nov 01st, 2014 - 03:39 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Paulie @5, you often tell people to look at maps, I suggest you do the same.
Here's one;
http://www.mapsofworld.com/antarctica/
...and here is some information for you.
The British Antarctic Territory (BAT) is a sector of Antarctica and is part of the United Kingdom, as one of the 14 British Overseas Territories and is the largest. In 2012, the southern part of the territory was named Queen Elizabeth Land in honour of Queen Elizabeth II.
I suggest you also check out the location of the South Shetland Islands, the South Orkney Islands and Graham Land.
The UK is to be found not only in the Northern Hemisphere. I hope this helps with your education.
I can but try...
@3. The Antarctic belongs to no-one, toffee-head. Perhaps you'd like to argue with 672 British 100 kilotonne nuclear missile warheads? Hundreds of British nuclear-tipped cruise missiles. Nuclear artillery shells. Nuclear depth bombs. Nuclear torpedos. You see, here in Britain, we can manage to comply with laws. Why can't you? There may be a short period of confirming that argieland has failed to comply with treaties and international law. Goodbye argieland. Good riddance!
Nov 01st, 2014 - 04:02 pm - Link - Report abuse 0are all the islanders as imbecile as that pelotudo @9?
Nov 01st, 2014 - 04:15 pm - Link - Report abuse 0it seems the poor thing have some kind of fixation with bombs, missiles, ogives, torpedoes and stuff.
try to get a girlfriend, (or better a boyfriend in your case), and get out of the closet, you repressed homo.
@10
Nov 01st, 2014 - 04:32 pm - Link - Report abuse 0So I guess you haven't looked at the map then Polly? Very good at giving advice and opinions, just not so good at receiving them?
It is ok to admit you are wrong sometimes, it comes with maturity. For now just consider it part of your (very steep) learning curve.
Good Luck out there in the real world!
@9 You can base a sovereignty claim on proximity. Everyone in the real world knows this. Lol

Nov 01st, 2014 - 05:16 pm - Link - Report abuse 0lol!
@12
Nov 01st, 2014 - 07:10 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Even Argentina knows that, you are not telling secrets are you?
And what the fuck have china and Russia got to do with the Antarctica?
Nov 01st, 2014 - 07:35 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Nothing
Actually quiet a lot,
You see they both know that in the near future all those minerals , riches , possible oil and gas , and all the rest that Antarctica can produce will come to the top of the agender,
In other words no agreement today, as a cover for the powerful in the future,
We think it will be the powerful who will remover the weak to get the assets that Antarctica has,
Just my opinion.
.
So the weak (Argentina) don't have a chance then?
Nov 01st, 2014 - 08:35 pm - Link - Report abuse 0China and Russia are just using them as a proxy?
Shhh! Don't tell KFC!
Save Briton's comments that kind of aim to the central key point, a whole article and 15 comments, yet no reasons or ideas are mentioned as to why China and Russia blocked this.
Nov 02nd, 2014 - 04:18 am - Link - Report abuse 0Because they wish to exploit the resources.
Nov 02nd, 2014 - 07:55 am - Link - Report abuse 0Der!
18.
Nov 02nd, 2014 - 12:48 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Really?? Do you think Russia lacks the same resources in their own land grabs in the Artic?
What is the ammount of capital you need to exploit Antartica in profitable way ??
I dont buy it, there must be something else to it
@10. Don't know. I'm not an Islander. I'm from the big enough place to turn argieland, and YOU, into glass. It is true that I have HUGE, hairy balls. Takes me two hours to shave them. I can't make any comment about other meanings. Anything to do with 'ass' or 'arse' seems more appropriate to argie slob slugs. Aren't argies always out looking for 'arse'? Not a problem for you, paulikins. Bet you're always out there 'on offer'. What's your fixation with your arse? Are you hoping for group bookings? Thank heaven that I'm 8,000 miles away. I'd shoot things like you without a second thought. For the sake of the race, deviants must be slaughtered. Guess that would take care of 41 million pointless argies. Not to be confused with the half dozen Argentines.
Nov 02nd, 2014 - 01:05 pm - Link - Report abuse 0it seems the repressed homo @20 is too ashamed to admit he is an islander.
Nov 02nd, 2014 - 02:19 pm - Link - Report abuse 0what a shame.
and again, your fixation with oblong things like torpedoes, bombs, ogives, penis and stuff, is unhealthy, you twat.
go see a shrink.
and get out of the closet, you fatty faggot.
