Punta Arenas expects 60.000 visitors this cruise season

An estimated 60.000 visitors will be landing in Punta Arenas, extreme south of Chile during this 2014/2015 cruise season, according to the manager of the Austral Ports Company, Ignacio Covacevich Fugellie. This includes 54.000 from international vessels and another 6.500 of Chilean flagged cruises on domestic tours. Read full article

    What a wonderful city Punta Arenas is... a real city with history and things to see and do, lovely old buildings, the real deal.
    Not like Ushuaia which has - um - shanties in the hills, -um - need some think music here - oh thats right..... nice views of Chile to the south.... thats about it....
    Oh the nativity scene with the penguins and seals ( up near the Prefectura where they keep the hulked 'warships') is rather nice....
