The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has found that the divide between the richest 10 percent and poorest 10 percent in many of the world's wealthiest countries - including Germany, US and UK - has been growing. In a report released Monday, OECD said that this, in turn, had caused growth to slow. Read full article

““In Germany, real inflation-adjusted GDP growth between 1990 and 2010 was 26%. We estimate that had inequality remained stable, and not increased, during those two decades, GDP would have grown by about 31%. So the German economy would be five percent bigger now had inequality not increased,” said OECD economist Michael Förster, a co-author of the OECD study.”

The key things here are Förster is an economist working for the OECD AND economists don’t know the first thing about the real world because all they do is pontificate on “estimates”, “had things remained stable and not increased” etc. etc.

If my aunty had bollocks I “think” she would have been my uncle.

IF the idle bastards who receive handouts to stay at home drinking beer, smoking fags and watching daytime television had ACTUALLY worked then the country would have been even better off. BUT why should they? Are they stupid, NO. The stupid bastards are the ones who want to give taxpayers money to those who don’t work for it.

When I was growing up we were poor despite BOTH my parents working until retirement age. I soon realised I needed to make an effort to break the circle and I did that by dint of hard work, study, more hard work, rising through the dross by means of working ‘smarter’ to become a director of a major international industrialand busness, then starting my own businesses.

    Simple really.

If these ‘poor’ don’t work hard at school why should they expect to get anywhere with their lives? WHO is going to employ them in real jobs?

There will always be workshy bastards in any society. Let them paddle their own canoe, they are not welcome to any of my money for doing nothing.

Well said Sir, that is why so many immigrants come to the UK because the benefit system is wonderful, but having said that Cameron is about to do something about that I hope. But you are right , I couldn't get work in the UK so I went abroad to work, I use to get all my salary paid in the UK and the company told the Argentine government another salary which the company paid tax on. I got a living allowance.
