Good for him! Performances are being blighted by people taking pictures and chatting. Rude.

That said I was not impressed with the production I saw at La Scala earlier this year. Completely overpriced for a pretty average performance. I still didn't chat or take pictures.

    Apparently he is an Israeli.

And how much TMBOA must scream every time his honorary KBE is mentioned.

No mention of him being an argie in any of the publications that come up first on Google.

It must also grate on CFK that Elizabeth II holds the highest honour in Argentina:

Grand Collar of the Order of the Liberator General San Martin

    “Apparently he is an Israeli.”
    wot?
    apparently you are an ignoramus.
he was born in buenos aires like martha argerich.
so, both the best director and the best pianist today are, of course, AR-GEN-TI-NOS.

Surely more appropriate would have been...

CFK halts la rally speech, to reprimand badly educated followers,

Christina was upset by noisy, rude flashers making audience laugh-
As previous warnings had no effect….and fell on naked ears,

    That’s better much more believable….lol

Good for him. Far too many people these days are more interested in recording what they are watching or listening to (so that they can share it with all their friends on FB later) than savouring the event while it is actually happening.

the funny thing here is that “KBE” (?) title.
of course he never mentions it and nobody gives a shite for it.
why these englanders insist in giving themselves and a few foreigners those ridiculous titles?
even thatcher´s son has one, no?
    ignorants x 10000

In most civilized audiences, those that don't know to behave, are forcefully removed and sent home. Don't see why they should be treated with respect if they show none for the artist. If they want something to remember the show by, then buy the CD or the DVD when it comes out later.

Ah, he may have been born in TDC but his Russo-Jewish parents took him to Israel when he was ten and looking at the very comprehensive review in Wikipedia (I rarely use it as any arsehole can ‘amend’ it) it looks kosher to me.

Has he EVER been back to cowtown? It doesn’t look like it and as for awards he holds the top civilian awards AND Doctorates from many European countries but NOTHING from TDC (or he has refused them as any right minded person would)!

He also speaks many languages: English, French, German, Hebrew and the higher form of Gibber-Jabber.

No wonder he never comes back to the shithole.

I would be surprised if he could make himself understood to TMBOA, speaking as she does in the lowest form of Gibber-Jabber interspersed with her usual scweeeems.

    christine.
of course you are wrong as always, but it is funny to read your posts.
now, what the f*ck is Gibber-Jabber?

    you mean JIBBER-JABBER?

    @9 Devonian

    Absolutely. 100% Correct.
The very intention of live performance is to interpret, enjoy and live in the moment; but now it seems at every concert that there's a scourge of ill-mannered troglodytes holding up some sort of recording device. Cell phones are the bane of modern performance; I'd bar them from every event. Learn to live in the moment. Kudos to Barenboim.

That was my point Chris...He left before the bad promise had a chance to set. He obviously achieved much after he left.

    @ 15 POLLY

Gibber-jabber is the original clause from the 19th century (1800 – 1899) and is defined as:

“useless words, beating around the bush, talking out of your arse. Annoying banter.”

In other words the SPANISH ‘LANGUAGE’.

The lowest form of Gibber-jabber as the WHOLE WORLD KNOWS is spoken in TDC. What is written by the Peronistas is simply CRAP and does not deserve credit.

Why use eight English words to describe an idea perfectly when 50 Espanol ones won't! © ChrisR 2014.

yes, blablabla, and yet you chose a spanish speaking country to live.
    incongruence or ignorance?

    @ 19 POLLY

    Neither in reality.

I am sure if you think about it that you could work it out for yourself.

I was misled however by Spanish speakers in the UK about Spanish as is it used in SA and Uruguay in particular. They are poles apart, with the now infamous ‘LL’ problems, the V is a B, B is a B, the 12,292 verbs plus male and female versions of the same, etc, etc. WTF does the language have a PERMANENT future verb, are you all psychic and can know the future? And that is without the reverse grammar, but not sometimes!”

I can converse with my neighbours and shop, not only in the super markets but also in the barracas.

What I miss is holding intelligent conversations with scientists and engineers, who with the exception of a very nice young Argentine who is an electronics engineer but educated in MIT (that’s in the USA) and his lovely wife who supported him financially (both dog lovers), does not exist in Uruguay as far as my experience goes. But I live in hope.

The laugh is on all of us though, including you. Within 20 km radius of where I live there are many, many, dialects of Gibber-jabber and even my Teacher of Spanish warned me not to be misled by the various ways the ‘same’ word is spoken and if necessary explore around the context to try and make sense of it.

At least I have a PN within the UK which can cope easily with good quality video and of course we use Skype.

What excuse do you have for not writing English properly, apart from you were educated in TDC?

    @11 mamarracho No.1 AKA paulcedron

Have a look at the list of recipients of honours from Argentina -
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_recipients_of_the_Order_of_the_Liberator_General_San_Mart%C3%ADn

Just about the same remarks could be used about this list. Pinochet, for example! What an idiot child you are!
