@3. What a pity that these 'Protocols' have already been signed. I hope that Chile has taken adequate precautions. Some that immediately occur are burying more than adequate quantities of explosives to destroy any of these projects. Why? Well, there's the Martin Garcia channel dispute for a start. Ten years Uruguay has been waiting for argieland to comply with its responsibilities. Supposedly administered by a bilateral commission known as CARP. I wonder if it shouldn't be CRAP. Then there was the pulp mills dispute, that turned out to be based on argie lies and argie pollution of the Uruguay River. Presumably that's now overseen by another bilateral commission known as CARU. And, having lost the last time, argieland wants to trot off to the ICJ again. Because Uruguay authorised a production increase of 0.2 million tonnes! Hardly a significant quantity. But enough, it seems, to try to get the original ICJ judgement overturned. Then there was the instance of argieland refusing to buy its currency back. Poor little Uruguay, being co-operative, exchanges worthless argie pesos, only to find that argieland intends to defraud it. How long will it be before argieland finds an excuse to re-open the Beagle Channel dispute? And renege on another one of those treaties of 'Co-operation and Friendship' it loves so much. Hitler had a similar approach. Get baulked on something? Put it away for a while and then try a different tack. With all these friendly 'co-operative' measures, how much is Bachelet giving away? Or perhaps she just wants a chance to make the same amounts of money?

I was hopeful the new heat wave would set fire to the cable (due to massive over-current draw) and cut them off.

Argentina received such an arse kicking during the Falklands war that they have shelved their territorial ambitions in South America and 'embraced' their neighbours. They regard this new found solidarity as essential because it makes them feel less afraid and more secure.
If Argentine had prevailed in the Falklands in 1982, which country was next in line for invasion?

Is that so ignorant one? Looking out at my garden I have Taxus baccata, Juniperis communis and Pinus mugo in leaf 365 days a year as they are conifers.
In the countryside around me we have thousands of hectares of Sitka spruce in forestry plantations, all with needle shaped leaves held ALL THE YEAR ROUND!.
