How to decide the status of Piketty. “In April 2012, Piketty co-authored along with 42 colleagues an open letter in support of then-PS candidate for the French presidency François Hollande.” Now, after 2 years, we can all see what a twat Hollande is as France slides down the tubes. And Piketty supported him! Doesn't that make Piketty a twat as well? Don't you just love theoretical economists? He proposes a global tax on wealth. CFK says “Yes, fantastic idea. Except for me”. Watch out for minor changes in the 'model'. Higher taxes, fewer allowances, fewer exceptions.

Only wealth distribution Christina is interested in is public funds into her private bank accounts.

Well the racists extremists that populate this website's comment section are soon to get what they wished for: in a year or so 50% of the world's wealth will be in the hands of 1% of the population. Current trends holding (and they will and accelerate under the CRONY CAPITALISM the extremists here champion), 75% of the world's wealth will be in the hands of .75% by 2070. This of course includes their own countries.

Now that sounds like a recipy for a safe, happy globe doesn't it.

What a success of a system.

The topic is on wealth distribution and the fool above of course can't be bothered with it because he supports the mass starvation of billions and the megalomaniacal control of all the world's wealth by a few select cabal of cronies.

As “wealthy” as he claims to be, he won't be part of the elite that will f--- him and his children and grandchildren.

In my book wealth inequality is the same as climate change. Its the same people screaming about the same thing and manipulating the data until it comes out to support their argument.
Never in the history of the world has there been less poverty, less hunger and more healthy people as there is right now.
And there's no data that anyone can show that proves differently.

Silly progressives think that those who scream the loudest wins.

    “Wealth Distribution”... right. Yeah, sure...

From those lazy folks on the receiving end of the so-called Wealth Distribution...

Why don't we just say “Give me all I want of your money! I don't care if YOU and your family worked hard, saved and invested for years/generations, took risks, worried every day about the financial decisions you made, and were ultimately successful and provided for your family. You looked for opportunities, trained to better yourself and get more skills, be smarter, and more productive and valuable in the marketplace...”

I didn't do $hit to be a good worker, and be a better citizen of my country.

I'm a ”what's in it for me? How much can I get as a handout from my government? And the less I have to do, and the less I take personal responsibility for my (and my family's) life, so much the better.”

    Wealth distribution my ass!

You are positively completely and haplessly beyond hope given what you have wrote.

There are more poor people alive now, more sick people not getting medical treatment, and more dying people than at any time in the last 6000 years of recorded history, COMBINED.

All because most of the world has decided to follow this perverse pathetic system called capitalism (crony).

What a lying scoundrel. Capitalism has destroyed the planet (yes, past tense... it's too late to undo the damage now).

    In the light right above

“how is the protest against your commie leader for murdering a bureaucrat”.

Keep in mind this creature is asking me for proof of a rhetorical question RIGHT AFTER HE sentences a president of a country as a murderess, with of course no proof whatsoever of course.

Gotcha you fool. Why are there 7 billion, because capitalism forces people to procreate unrestrained in order to maximize opportunities!! As it does, it created a temporary and voracious non-poor class that is destroying the planet.

You said you have children. They will live far worse off than you in the USA, they'll be poorer because the USA is in decline (forget your momentary and deceiving blip from a massive recession), they will be dumber because USA colleges are either too expensive or offering BS degreess, and at constant target of terrorist, biological, chemical, and nuclear attack. Plus mother nature counter-attacking the human infestation with super bugs, ebola diseases, stronger earthquakes, hurricanes, droughts, and snow....

    Thanks to capitalism.

Capitalism is based on greed. Only countries with strong regulations and high redistribution through taxation more or less mitigate the system's worst effects.
As such, it's not surprising that Cristina Fernandez would want to meet French economist Thomas Piketty. Wealth distribution has been significant part of her presidency.
Of course, those who prefer to believe the “wealth trickling down” fable are scandalized by such heresies. The wealthy and powerful have always had their admirers, hyenas waiting to eat the lion's leftovers.
Think. Would you prefer the return of the new Bolsheviks?

Actually is wealth trickling up now. It actually is moving from the poor to the rich thanks to corporate socialism, tax havens, and global drivedown of worker wages.

Capitalism is based on making money. Greed and making money are two different things. Where did you learn about capitalism. In Havana?
what happens in your world when they are no more
wealthy to feed off of? There is greed everywhere......just look at kirchner and what they did in real estate. Capitalism is not based on greed.......but in a global business world.......it does need oversight.

If it's not based on greed why do rich people try to hide money away from taxation?? The money was already made, they just needed to be good citizens and perform the civic duty of tax payment. But they avoid even that...

Actually I'm very happy with th income distribution that my country practices.

We have a much lower concentration of wealth than Argentina. So obviously not being capitalist doesn't really help. Indeed on some measure we are getting our standard of living with includes income and access to opportunities as high as the Scandanavian countries.

While on one likes paying tax, there's an implicit social contract in my country that means the majority accept a certain level of taxes and that they will at times be given to others.

While there are some that get away without paying their fair share. And while some take more than their fair share. Doesn't mean it isn't working or should be stopped. Just means it comes up against human nature and still works.

Argentina should start by slowing down the wealth accumulation of its president first.

I have just spent the past few weeks in Vnzla.

Argentines, you should know the future unless you act now!
    ~
You should listen to Yankeboy and Capt'n Poppy and others re: Argentina (dieng mfg/soy prices/ no more FDI/imports/blue dollar, etc)
    ~
The Scarcity is so bad in Vnzla that taking photos of empty shelves in supermarkets is now illegal.
Then the queues, (las colas) got so bad that people have been queuing overnight.
So they banned queues. Honestly! I was there when it happened! Some of my younger cousins was in 'la cola' overnight when the military arrived and forced people to stop queuing AT GUN-POINT!
I had arrived to supply water and snacks for them.
They were threatened with tear gas or imprisonment. For queueing for scarce supplies! Overnight!
Welcome to the Socialist Paradise of the Bolivarian Revolution.
    ~
What next? A ban on Hunger?
    ~
Argentina/Brazil, take this as a warning........!
    ~
PS: I love Vnzla, just hate the Gvnmt for destroying it.
