Have you not noticed that the Falkland Islands territory with NO oil(yet) is already the most prosperous country in South America(per head of population) and has no (present) need for income from oil. And all the risk is carried by the prospecting oil companies NOT by the people of the archipelago.
Also, it seems to me that my fellow citizens of the islands are far more practical than you think. They are not rubbing their hands in glee YET at the thought of all that potential income - they are very aware of the prevailing market conditions.
So keep your childish opinions to yourself!
