An oil well is a single hole...the Falklands have an oil discovery, an oil field....appraised nine times, and proven (PROVEN) to contain over 200million barrels of high quality oil...and likely to contain double that.

Remove oil means accepting the filing of thousands of foreign workers, who are not going to walk but to settle permanently. They should get used to seeing drunks and prostitutes roaming the town, you will see people of all stripes prying into their homes. The islanders are not prepared to deal with these people, they soon find themselves overwhelmed watching his country life falls apart. The only alternative to extract oil from there is that workers have their camp on the continent and at the time of shift change on ships move directly to the platforms without going through the islands, but that will never happen because Argentina will not allow anything so ever ..!
2) It makes me laugh so-called “island” who post in this forum, none lives in the islands. If they are so staunch advocates of the “usurpers” that make living in Cambridge, London, Boston, Montevideo, etc ?. I have a hypothesis in response .. many lawyers, engineers, doctors, accountants and architects are needed in the islands? NONE .. !! 0 is the answer .. !! Therefore, the islands are just a nursing home, who wants progress have nothing to do on the islands, you only go there to have a future and a horizon for your family. Feb 18th, 2015 - 10:32 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Oil- if developed - will come in from offshore in tankers or a pipeline - to a loading platform in a sheltered bay where large tankers will then load and tranship it to anywhere in the world for refining.
Total planned population increase IF Oil is developed in a medium-large volume will be about 600 men women and children - that is a population increase of about 20% - and some of those will be living offshore and flying in and out of the Islands anyway.
During the construction phase and connection all the wells up ready for pumping there will be some more - but again all offshore and they fly in out of the islands never spending more than one night onshore.
If Argentina was sensible then many of those workers could come from South America and earn good money - but if you continue to be stupid then they will come from Europe instead and make good money just as they already do.
There is NOTHING Argentina can do to stop it from happening - IF the Oil Companies decide to go ahead - their decision not yours.
Funny that our younger generation are keen to return to their home - the islands - after their education at universities and Colleges - does not fit with your fantasy does it?
