The British and Spanish foreign ministers sought to highlight a renewed drive toward an ‘ad hoc’ dialogue on Gibraltar this week, but in doing so drew firm red lines that signaled just how difficult that task will prove. The coordinated message was positive and hinted at the possibility of talks ‘in the near future’ if a format could be agreed. But on core issues, there was no change. Read full article

In reality, Margallo is increasingly isolated. The spanish thought they could overwhelm Gibraltar in a few months. Failed. The period has seen Gibraltar draw spain's illegal activities to the attention of the world. Plenty of countries concerned about nearby belligerent states ignoring international law. South Korea will not be browbeaten by the north. Japan will not be browbeaten by China. Ukraine will not be browbeaten by Russia. Ignoring human rights by keeping people waiting anything between 2 ans 8 hours to cross a frontier. Especially under the summer sun in spain. Ignoring the UN. Various provisions of the UN Charter. UNCLOS. Why doesn't spain go to the ICJ? Same reason argieland doesn't dare go to the ICJ. Of course, spain is a blustering bully. Every time a full size Royal Navy vessel makes an appearance, the spanish run!

@5. Quite right. Spaniards, being hispanic latinos, are always smuggling and committing other crimes. The way that you profit from smuggling is to buy items that are cheaper in another country, illegally moving them to your own country and then selling them. Argies know this. They do it all the time in Chile and Urineguay. Little spain admits the incidence of smuggling has fallen. Spaniards now take a boat across the Bay of Gibraltar to load what they steal. Tax evasion? The European Commission says that spain is lying and there isn't any. Except for the spaniards that still try to get away with it. And, yes, there is plenty of evidence.
Feb 21st, 2015 - 03:16 pm - Link - Report abuse 0As for trilaterals, it's quite simple for someone with any intelligence. Not you, Pablo. There are only two areas in which Britain takes the lead. Defence and foreign relations. When it comes to, say, Catalonia, who takes the lead in everything. The spanish. At any point in time, the people of Gibraltar can demand independence. The people of Catalonia WANT independence but the colonialist, imperialist, overbearing spanish won't allow it. WE BRITISH went along with the scotch to have a vote on independence. The colonialist, imperialist, overbearing spanish won't even allow that.
Note that British Gibraltar Territorial Waters are a DOMESTIC matter. Arresting intruders or blowing them out of the water. Intruders into British Gibraltar Air Space are also a DOMESTIC matter. And can be countered by the Royal Gibraltar Regiment.
@7. And who's a hypocritical twat? The so-called 'chagossians' are not a 'people'. Just a bunch of African ex-French slaves with a few Indians and Malays. They'll all be dead soon. Around your pitiful, broken country, don't you have 'governors'? Strange how your 'provinces' have to comply with the federal constitution. And the federal government gets to change the federal constitution when it likes. Wow, it's a dictatorship! Maybe if you had a clue what you were talking about?

Feb 22nd, 2015 - 10:15 am - Link - Report abuse 0I understand but YOU obviously don't.
It's very simple. Argentina wants a group of islands that they have never owned and to which they have no legal title..
They consistently lie, threaten and bully the inhabitants.
They tried an unsuccessful invasion and were soundly rebuffed.
The have access to the ICJ to air their grievance but refuse to. Why ?
Their schoolchildren are indoctrinated with the Malvinas myth in a manner that China under Mao would recognise.
The prize for the Falklanders is, wait for it.....Argentinian citizenship !
Hardly the big lottery win !!!!!!
Following the engendered Hispanic trait, Spain tries the same with Gibraltar.
Rather than showing them the advantages of joining Spain, they show a mean spirited approach which only hardens the Gibraltarian's resolution to have as little to do with them as possible.
Both Spain and Argentina, in deep trouble, resort to the time worn solution of blaming others for their woes as a way of distracting their populace. A classic move as Hitler/Goebbels used against the Jews.
I see you moderated your language in your post...only one pejorative term and one hackneyed expletive.

Feb 22nd, 2015 - 02:57 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Doesn't it seem curious to you that Ministers of Her Majesty's Government of Gibraltar travel to Brussels and meet with members of the European Commission in just the same way that ministers of any other EU member can? Does it seem curious that the European Commission sends out an investigating commission because Gibraltar asks for it? Just so that you know, Gibraltar has presented all the evidence of spain's illegal activities. Little spaiun is in the shite as every one of its 'accusations' is proved to be false.
And that takes us on the argieland. At least 182 years of lies! Have you been keeping track? How many visits by Members of the Legislative Assembly have been made to 'foreign' countries? Let's consider argieland's 'claim' to sovereignty. The May 4 1493 papal bull inter caetera. The Treaty of Tordesillas. So the United States belongs to spain, does it? Has the US been told? 1820. David Jewett. And the legitimacy of a pirate is....? 1828. Luis Vernet. And the legitimacy of a fraudster is.....? 1832. Thought Vernet was 'authorised' by the United Provinces of the River Plate. Where did the Republic of Buenos Aires get off appointing him as civil and military commandant? And a penal colony being set up by a band of murderers and rapists? Haven't seen anything legitimate yet! 1850 and a Convention of Settlement. No mention of the Falklands. The 20th and 21st centuries. Various General Assembly resolutions. None of which are binding.
So argieland has no valid claim. There is only ONE owner of the Falkland Islands. Variously Britain, Great Britain or the United Kingdom. But there can still be a bipartite negotiation. Between the British government and the Falkland Islands government. To hand over sovereignty to the new owners. And the defence treaty. Assuring the FI that Britain will obliterate attackers.

According to the legal uathorities on the matter - it is not. The EU, OECD etc all white-list Gibraltar. So - you are wrong.
why the fuck they have 80.000 companies, being just 30.000 macacos, eh?” - First: there are 200 monkeys and they don't own companies. There are 30,000 people here.
Second - there are not 80k companies, but 18k. Go and read some stats on the subject, not popaganda and lies from Margallo. Besides - the reason there are a lot of companies is because we encourage enterprise. The UK, for example, has 2 million companies: I used to have three myself. as for contrabando y blanqueo de capitales, read this, you little monkey
The EU can investigate, and has done many times. We have nothing to hide. In fact, we've had the tax code investigated 4 times in the last 4 years, and passed each time: could the 4 investigations be related to the fact that the commissioner in charge was - well - Spanish?
Besides - you need to read the original report here, not the PP propaganda. The actual outcome was that OLAF will investigate money-laundering on both sides - Gib and Spain - involved in the trade. But the report also made clear that the money-laundering is largely on the Spanish side, and they have clear evidence for that. Evidence which the PP denied, and on which they refuse to take action.
Sounds familiar, doesn't it? Spanish lies and corruption. Yet again.
You really are a sad little troll.
