    Now we just need paulcedron to slither out from under his slimy rock, show his ignorance, and prove once more that the UK is the greatest nation on Earth.

    An unlikely name for an Italian built ship.

    @3
    Not really, as it is British owned. It is quite usual to design something and then accept the best tender to build the product. But being from Argentina you probably have little understanding of global capitalism, except avoiding vulture-shit.

    Please name the last five Argentine owned Cruise Ships bulit to a similiar standard.

    @4 I couldn't- primarily because I'm Australian not Argentinian. And incidentally, if you read my previous posts, a strong supporter of the rights of the Falkland Islanders. Not that this story is about that issue.

    This ship visited Gibraltar the other day,

    may not be British built, but British owned , and flying the flag,

    a very nice looking ship,

    Nobody should misunderstand this comment after reading only the first few words.

    What is wrong with this vessel, based on its name, becoming the next Royal vessel? So deal with it on a 'sharing' basis. When Her Majesty wants to use it, it's hers. Other times, civilian cruises or a troopship. At least 5,000 happy troops!

    “”An unlikely name for an Italian built ship.“”“

    Why would where it is built affect its name in this day & age?

    That's a very weird attitude.. everybody would need to read Chinese for the majority of their property if we follow your logic?

    The far more logical question would be: Why wouldnt it be named at the behest of the owner, rather than the manufacturer?

    As such your comment does rather seek to find something to be controversial and negative whilst ignoring any logic and facts, thereby exhibiting typical attitude and approach of the Malvo-Class of posters on MP.

    I mean, the ”Adelaide“ class of frigate of the RAN were built in the USA... and the ”Hobarts” will be Spanish built with American and British systems...

    Following your apparent logic then, why aren't they named after Spanish and US places?

    Oh, maybe because the owner is going to be Australian?

    go figure...

    So its perfectly rational and reasonable for readers on MP to assume a poster is a Malvo-Argentine, whenever they see a post that defies logic, common sense and fact... especially when the name chosen of the poster (Justthefacts ) follows a traditional and common process of using a name to attempt to attain some authority within the contents of the post (and almost always fails to do so).

    If we apply your chosen posting name, to your actual post - we see a rather substantial dichotomy between the post and the name.... indeed “Just the facts” avoids mentioning the facts (that its British owned) or that the place of manufacturing nowadays has little bearing on the end-user choice of name.

    Generally, what is missing form your post ARE the facts... instead its 1 fact chosen and promoted to elicit negativity of some fashion, or make some obscure statement... again, as above, typical of the Malvo-Argentines.

    I suggest, therefore, to change your name to “Just the facts I chose to promote and ignoring others I dont” as that would be far more accurate.

    I'll leave the petty point scoring to those who want to engage in it, but my original comment at @3 above was a pithy observation alluding to the decline in British ship building capacity and competitiveness- made in sadness rather than scorn or aggression, given my great fondness for the UK. That my own country has similar issues in its own ship building capacity (of even greater concern to me) does not prevent me from making the point or invalidate it. Many western countries, the UK and Australia among them, are too reliant on overseas manufacturing in areas of strategic capacity and would struggle to rebuild their own quickly in a crisis.

    @10 justthefacts

    No your comment @3 wasn't a 'pithy' observation regarding the decline of British ship building. How can “An unlikely name for an Italian built ship.” mean the decline of British ship building? Maybe that was your intent, but it wasn't actually what you put across.

    Face it you made a comment that was quite stupid when you think about it. A better comment would've actually to have made a comment about the decline of ship building in the west, something that people who can't read your mind (which is everyone) would understand.

    So don't get annoyed that people can't understand your 'intent' from such a brief and stupid comment.

    Its a ship,
    its a ship called Britannia
    its the biggest ship designed exclusively for the British market.

    who built it is irrelevant,
    now many countries today actually build their own ships,

    in this case perhaps the owners decided to have it built there,
    rather than in the UK,

    the UK does actually still build ships.

    @14 Reread the first 14 words from my previous post. I clarified my first comment, which in any case wasn't even offensive, so end of story- Have the last word if you want.
