Poverty affected 28% of Latin America’s population in 2014, revealing that its decline has stalled at around that level since 2012, while indigence rose to 12.0% from 11.3% during the same two-year period in an overall context of economic deceleration, according to the projections from a study released by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago, Chile. 28% eh?

    I bet it is 38% in TDC.

    It would be a lot less if these idle bastards worked at school and then worked for a living. But heh, that would mean getting off their arses, stop drinking and smoking in front of the LED TV that the taxpayers in Uruguay have forked out for under Pepe's “Give them the money scheme”.

    These 'poor' can't even be bothered to wash themselves. Leave them as they are.

    And before we have the trolls carping I am from a very poor family in the UK just after WW2 and I made it because I worked at school then worked to improve my prospects and guess what: I am now retired and didn't have to take a penny from anybody else EVER.

    ECLAC also put out a report praising Latin America for reducing it's debt to GDP down to 16%. Think what would happen to the world is the free market world did what LATAM did to reduce their debt? The report fails to mention that they did not manage it through astute and wise decisions paying it off, rather the default and refused to pays 73 cents on every dollar. Fucking deadbeats.

    @4
    I'm sure at least 70% of the population wish they could.
    However, Maduro is a puppet of Castro. Diosdado Cabello is the one to watch. The true power behind the throne, and clever enough to have his hands on all the 'levers' without actually being President.
    He rules Vnzla, there is no doubt aboout that.
    Delcy is a mad bitch but not quite as clever, (I hope!). She is dangerous though. One of those that has drunk too much from the fountain of power, and is a fanatic. Therefore quite unpredictable. She is a fundamentalist Chavista as much as any IS tyrant or Oklahoma bomber.
    Over-promoted and under-educated.
    Watch her for more crazy pronouncements. She has that fervent look in her eyes that all religious fanatics acquire.

    Do not ever under-estimate Cabello. The most dangerous man in SA.
