Saudi Arabia largest importer of defense equipment in 2014, and probably 2015
Saudi Arabia has replaced India as the largest importer of defense equipment worldwide and took the top spot as the number one trading partner for the US in 2014, according to IHS’ annual Global Defense Trade Report. Read full article

Says something about 'backbone' or the lack of it in their armies.
@3. Ever heard the word 'deterrence'? The UK has a number of nuclear warheads. We hope never to deploy them. Although there are number of countries that would be much improved if we did. Worth bearing in mind that the armed forces of Iran are 2.5 times as big, Egypt's are twice the size, Iraq's are slightly larger.
