Unasur (Union of South American Nations) presidents will meet next week to respond to the grotesque and illegal meddling of the United States in Venezuelan affairs announced Ecuadorean president Rafael Correa. Read full article
Firstly, there is NO confrontation between the US and Vnzla/Lat Am. If they were, Vnzla would be truly scared and not shouting its mouth off,
Secondly: Ecuador is a puppet State of Vene-Cuba/ALBA, that is totally reliant on Vene-Cuba oil subsidaries, and their politiical will.
Sad, but true.
Thirdly: The Fool Rafael Correa inadverdently admits the truth when he says ..
”which has the power of a law and virtually sanctions all the followers of president Maduro”.
hah!
Let's all avoid becoming embroiled in cheap, local, racist slander. Look out for Vnzla starting a 'local' war with Guyana over so-called 'disputed' terrritory.
You heard it here first!
lol!
and the no.1 item will be an affirmation that they all back Argentina's legitimate rights to the Falklands Pat each other on the back and go home. Nothing will change.

Guyana to drill oil well on the Essequibo shore.
Georgetown acknowledges that the presence of the Venezuelan Navy deters oil exploration.
hmm.... please note the Headline.
Equally, please note that Guyana is a member of the 53 nation Commomwealth, and that several of those countries are members of Nato.
Also, that the UK has very good relations with Colombia.
Is Madurro crazy enough to pick a fight with these people?
I personally don't know, but I do know that he will obey Diosdado Cabello. who is on crazy muthafucka gangster....

Stop threatening us with NATO. NATO does not exist for us, or do you want to see it in the deep end with the departure of Portugal, Spain, Germany and Turkey?
As for NATO not existing for uneducated Brasilians, Colombia is pretty much an associat member of NATO and wants go work closer. Seems they don't have the same feelings for Brazil.
@7
Haha!
You should be very happy that NATO does not focus on you!
You would be utterly destroyed.

In fact, your Govt wants to be a member, but you are not welcome, because, let's be honest, you're a bit shit really.

Do not be stupid! The five eyes are getting more isolated day. Things can get much worse if the world (BRICS, part of NATO, South America, the Caribbean and Africa) join into one army to end the United States and its satellites.
What is at stake here is much more that only military power.
Correa is just scared all his ill gotten gains will be targeted as well.
About time the US started secretly leaking some of the financial transactions by these thugs to the International press.

So, they are going to have a meeting, but no-one know where it is?

All the 'statesmen' with their trousers around their ankles facing south and bending over to show the brains to the US.
The only real frustration I have in my life is knowing that I am 'ruled' [it's like the argie demand] by a bunch of children who can no more think ahead than they can speak English [or even real Spanish].
@14 ChrisR
Yup, it's the same in Vnzla. Many years ago, I had a good, and successful life there.
Then Chavismo took hold. At first it was all lower taxes for the small people, (great!), then they started punishing the major suppliers, then the 'minor middle-traders' (bad translation, but you know what I mean), then the Store-Owners (me), especially if you had more than one, (me), then they started expropriating the major suppliers, then the middle-men, and when they came for me I knew I must leave,
First I knew was when the suppliers said they couldn't talk to me any more (!?!?!?), then old friends said 'I can't sell to you anymore, I have family you know, some family in the barrio, too many chavista moto-churros in el barrio, you know, sorrry, my friend”
Insidious, and nasty. Two of my shops got fire-bombs because I wouldn't buy from govt backed suppliers, ( overpriced =no profit).
These days, the Govt sets the prices, no matter what you pay for bulk/trade price, so frequently you must sell at a loss. Private businesses are closing across Vnzla.
But this is what they want, they want a dependent clientle populace reliant on govt. useless 'mercados'.
These 'socialists' actualy need a dependent, pathetically grateful 'poor' in order to stash millions in Switzerland.
Sorry to have such a moan... you must think I'm such a whinger...
They killed my business, they impoverished my extended family, across the board. I now am seperated from those I love, returned to working in London, far from those that I love.
I hate those evil people in govt.
Perhaps you understand ChrisR, imagine if all you worked for, a govt. just took it away?

They have being fighting an imaginary enemy for more than 12 years. Maduro already has absolute power and he doesn't need any excuses. Its about time the US bitch slaps these fools.
Now the US has to come back and humiliate Brazil... See ?? I have being gone for more than 10 years and left you in charge and this place is a shithole. But for that you need a Putin like boss
Any excuse for a beano to make them feel important.
Interesting posts, Ilsen. I sincerely hope the U.S. maintains this soft approach as anything stronger will play in to the hands of Maduro; he wants a fight with an outside enemy. Don't give it to him.
@18 ElaineB
Thank you for the compliment, and your post.. Equally, I agree that the US should not 'play their game', which is why I agree with these 'targeted' sanctions.
As for your he wants a fight with an outside enemy. Don't give it to him.
I totally concur with that, but I do hope global awareness is raised of the sickness prevalent in Vnnzla by these actions.
I certainly don't wan't to see Civil War in Vnzla, but I am losing hope. One thing I do know is that the USA is not involvled, in fact my business/political contacts there tell me the US is very 'hands-off' and seriously does not want to get involved in yet another 'back-room brawl'. They have simply 'had enough' of this, and are far too focussed on the M.E.
Tricky, huh? If a small country raises the issue they are ignored, if a medium sized country mentions it, they are 'meddling' and risk trade deals with larger countries, if major counntries get involved they are 'imperialists'...
hmmm... it never gets any easier, does it?
I'm always interested in your thoughts on so much matters, do keep posting.
Thanks,
-ilsen
@ 19
If you are insinuiating that I should have written 'whore-house' rather than my mis-typed 'ware-house', well, that says a great deal about you..
Obviously you are innocent of either locations, of which I am not. So be it.
Don't bring your prudery to my table. Thank you very much.
Although a much calmer individual these days, I did very much enjoy a 'mis-spent' youth! (as you might say), With no regrets! Take that to your precious vatican, and smoke it! I guarrantee it won't be it the same as what you get blown up your arse!
Sorry to hear of your trouble.
The UK may not be the best place in the world, but we are far from the worst.
At least here you can pretty much say what you want, disagree with the current government and not get arrested.
@21
agreed.
And make an honest living, even if living expenses are so high.
But to be free again! And send money to Vnzla, at the officicial rate. Always............................
Alledgley there are ways where one can even get 200 BSF / US$ but I would not get involved in that because I support the Bolivarian Revolution so I always trade at 6.3 and my family eat rats.
I like my family to eat rats so of course I abide by the system. It is the only way to achieve true Bolivarian Socialism, rats are tasty..........
when we get some garlic at the end of month.
You just need to make it last, huh!
We are now all equal, we all eat rats. Thank You Hugo!
My Eternal Commander, I will never exploit the system as your henchmen do to line their pockets, I will always be humble to the Revolution, and be poor but happy, like you told me.
Correa is right. The USA must understand it cannot interfere in other peoples Countries by allowing fugitives from justice to shelter in their Embassy. Disgraceful behaviour. If it was up to me I'd break off diplomatic relations and expel all their diplomats.
I also had a mis-spelt youth.
These 'where-houses' are so called because nobody knows where they are until the actual event
Proodery and the Vartican have been a large part of my life - ton! ;-)
@23 I agree that Ecuador should not interfere in other people's countries by allowing fugitives from justice to shelter in their embassies in London……..
Ilsen, Venezuela come up a fair amount in world news in the U.K. anyone interested in world news knows what is happening in Venezuela. There is often less coverage in South American news. It is surprising how disinterested people are here (I am currently in Chile) in the countries close by but focus on the U.S. and Europe.
Elaine
Chileans are more inclined to talk about football, but most of us are well aware of the the Bolivarian revolution disaster.
Also, there are a lot of recently arrived Venezuelans here in Santiago. Not one of them has anything but contempt for the Maduro government. Many are from the middle class, including doctors and engineers. I read the El Mercurio and the coverage of events in Venezuela is fairly good. Today alone, there are two articles regarding the country.
Ilsen
We had a Marxist socialist disaster here in Chile that destroyed our economy, including massive food shortages, but fortunately our military was not under control like they are in Venezuela. I remember as a boy, waiting in line outside a market in Las Condes having no idea what would be sold when it would open.
It's incredible just how Chavez and his military thugs have destroyed such a wealthy nation in such a short time. The fall of world petroleum prices has been the greatest threat to Maduro, not the US government though.
Other than sanctions, I don't think Democrats or Republicans will use any kind of military force against Madero. Perhaps the real danger is when all the international court cases are settled compensating companies like Exxon for loss of assets. Citgo could potentially be seized in a judgement. Placing themselves into permeant enormous debt holder status with China is sucide.
@26 I believe you. I find there is a disinclination to talk politics most probably because views tend to be polarised. Once people here have one's trust they tend to have an opinion. I guess the easy option is to talk sport.
I have only just arrived so it will be interesting to see how people view the current government here. When I was here in October/November people previously supporters of Bachelet were rather inclined to complain about her policies.
Elaine
Well, the 10 million Dollar loan scandal certainly has not helped her recent popularity, but her real problem is the economy. Changes to the tax code here is severely hurting new investment. The copper market fall has also affected tax revenues (despite our rainy day fund) and new construction starts have dramatically fallen.
No one is quite sure how many of the schools will be fully funded which has caused people to question her campaign promises.
Finally, her proposed public health care improvements made during the elections still remain stalled.
Saying all that, Chile still remains the most stable, safe and least corrupt country in Latin America. She's admittedly a Socialist, but a conservative one that supports our military and independent central bank.
MADuro is having a go at Uruguay because Sendic, the new Chief crook of the government after 'loosing' U$D 300 M while boss at ANCAP, told him there was NO evidence of interference by the States in Venezuela!

Señor Think
It would be even a more magnificent historical opportunity for us little Latin American brothers from the South to get together and demand the Maduro government respect human rights and the democratic process. If they want to nationalize foreign holdings and become a Marxist paradise, then no one (including the USA) should intervene, but what the government has done recently is against the basic rights of the people.

What an absolutely wonderful riposte!
I tried to provoke you, yet you responded with wit, dignity and subtle humour. Obviously a true gent of the old school.
You Sir, are a delight. Hat's off! Deep curtsy, and trebles all round!
You have my respect.

A most interesting 'intercambio'. Thank you both.
Although I do feel Vnzlan/Lat Am News to be very under-represented in the UK, I happily admit that I am somewhat biased in this view.
BTW, PanAmPost.com does have a great deal of current comment/reportage on Vnzla at the moment.
@ChrisR
Thank you for the feed-back and funny old vid. How is that gym mistress? Oh my! Magnificent. Massive crush..... et al.
Makes you proud to be British... etc.

Yes, he sold all the gold reserves at rock-bottom prices, which then went sky-high over the next 10 years.
The idiot.
@ everyone else
The USA is not intervening in Vnzla, they are just saying
1: You can't stash your dirty cash here
2: You are not welcome here
3: We are watching you, so be careful
This is targeted at 7 individuals, all total 'nasties' and is not a sanction against Vnzla, no matter how Maburro wants to spin it.
Brasil person, another commie idiot. Look at old soviet places, Cuba and Venez? All poor backward where you get jail for saying the truth, robbed by corrupt politician. Saving $ to get my family out to nice country my best plan.
The USA has great bi-lateral relations with the countries in SoAm that matter. The Alba +Argentina nations have always been failed nations. They will always been failed nations. Even in they band together it will be a bunch of failed nations.
Nobody cares.
Nobody listens to them
They have nothing to offer the civilized world
Nobody would miss them if they disappeared
and many may celebrate.
FIRSTLY PEOPLE FROM THE BANANA ANGLO/PIRATE SAD CULTURE, WHAT HAPPEN IN LATIN AMRICAN NATIONS IS NOT YOIUR DAMN BUSSINESS AND USA ALWAYS INTERFERING WITH US, SO FUCK OFFF , SECONDLY YOU ALL DUMB ASSES ALWAYS ARE IN CONTACT WITH THIS NEWSPAPER, THEN IS TIME TO FUCK OFFF YOU ALL AND MOVE YOUR MONKEY ASSESS TO OTHER NESPAPER , SAD CUNT BORRING PIRATES

Very illuminating, wonderful post so full of hate. typical no hoper. Never mind dear we will pick up the pieces when your government has finally run out of YOUR MONEY.
55. Hepatia always comes out with some doozies. I wonder how someone can be that stupid and still type.
How in the heck could the largest wealthiest country isolate themselves from the hemisphere? Every single nation in SoAm is heavily dependant upon our marketplace and the U$.
We Hep C? Still writing like you are an American I see. I suggest you see your therapist. And george......what can I say.....such anger....such jealousy. George......I suggest you direct your hostility toward your anti democratic leaders. Try to instill some democracy in South America and you might be happy. After all. OAS say they are to promote democratic values. Denounce Venezuela because that is a ditatorship.
THE HYPOCRESY SHOW.
Is obama the president from a country which invaded different countries, and killed a lot of civil populations?, is obama the president from a nation which supported several coup d'etats and dictatorships in the last 50 years?, is obama the president from a country where security forces commit terrible abuses like in venezuela, and in many other places?, if your answer is yes, then i think you will realize that you don't have to be so smart to recognize that obama's sanctions were no more than a hypocritical show, which tries to submit venezuela to the interests of the empire. It is clear that if venezuela wasn't the great oil producer it is, obama wouldn't move not even one finger for that nation, and we all know it prefectly, because nobody is imbecile.
Anyway i won't deny the abuses committed by security forces in venezuela, where some people who protested against the government died, because of hard represions, i really hope that justice investigates those cases, but i would be hypcrite if i didn't recognize that thoses abuses are similar to those commited in many other countries, even in u.s .a., however there are no sanctions by u. s. a. for them.
Perhaps obama hasn't seen yet that southamerica isn't nobody's backard anymore, maybe he thinks that not only we are colonized people, but also idiots, who will believe that venezuela is a threat for u.s .a. Anyway, it's never too late to recognize a mistake, in fact, obama will see on saturday how all the southamerican nations, or unless most them meet, in order to avoid any intervention by the empire, and reject those hypocritical sanctions. I have no doubt that obama is an intelligent man, and he will recognize his mistake sooner or later.
Obama has only been President since 2009;
I can't think of many countries that he has invaded during that time.

Leave Axel be........he is dead set on supporting dictators who kill and jail their own citizens demanding a bit more than toilet paper.
When Venezuela detains missionaries accusing religious people or being spies, you know the country is paranoid. Axel....you realize that when you associate the current President and past actions as one, that also goes for Argentina and your junta, no?
The USA does not need to do anything to Venezuela that Maduro will do to itself. For such a great oil producer, your sister surely fucked up. You know that the falling prices did not kill Venezuela because all Oil dependent nations use a formula to reserve cash for periods like this.........but Chubby Chavo (devil bless his soul) got too greedy with the plus 100 a barrel prices and decided his pocket was a better place than reserve funds.
You know what South Americans like you problem is? Paranoia of your own former leaders. Busswords:
Empires
Imperialism
Backyards et al.
If you are going to vomit your garbage, at least get it right what Venezuela was deemed:
“unusual and extraordinary threat” to U.S. national security and foreign policy.”
The clue is in UNUSUAL and EXTRAORDINARY. Perhaps those words do not translate well in SA spanish. And BTW Axel, the next political opponent the Kirchner's kill I suggest they take lessons from Putin because that is how you kill political opponents.
Nice fire in the Ministry of Defense..........was it an exercise in document shredding gone bad?
Geeeeeeeeeeeee.....
A lot of backpedaling, retractions, reconsiderations, rephrasings or whatever they want to call it... arriving from the State Dept. to all their embassies in UNASUR & CELAC Countries...
Let's hope Dilma And Cristina don't fall for it and seize this magnificent opportunity to give the Anglo dominated OAS its much deserved coup de grâce at the coming UNASUR Presidential meeting...
When will you understand that the USA is not dependent on Vnzlan oil, nor wishes to be.
It buys just 19% of its foreign oil supplies from Vnzla, which is also 94% of Vnzlan oil exports.
Imagine if the US chose to buy from another supplier, (and there are many) ?
Vnzla would collapse in a few weeks.
Meanwhile
@70 El Drinko
Please indulge me and explain this 'coup de grâce'. Its format, content and resultant outcome.
(PS: I recommend a glass of Isla Jura to ease your hang-over, it is smooth and not too peaty, unlike your beard, which I suggest is as woolly and sodden as your thoughts.)
Last time the Yanks used the Unusual and Extraordinary Threat to the National Security and Foreign Policy argument against a Latin American Country was in 1985, against Nicaragua, under Ronald Reagannnnnnnn...
Next week UNASUR Presidential Meeting (ahead of the OAS summit in April) would be the perfect place to declare what USA is...:
..... An Usual and Ordinary Threat to the National Security and Foreign Policies of South America...
Drink is having trouble coming to grips with the failure of his dreams for a 'socialist” SAU, and he's not getting any younger. Pretty damned funny. ;)
#75 oh quite the opposite. For people like Stink, economic failure IS their success. It makes it easier for the corrupt commie leaders to siphon money for their own ill gotten gains.
Stink why not do this. Cut off all trade with North America and you should be in your glory? If the USA was seriously looking to fuck with you heroic bus driver, all we'd need do is cut off the exported gasoline that we refine for Venezuela.
This is a load of shot or what?
“The main principles that gave birth to UNASUR were the preservation of this region as a peace zone, the reinforcement of democracy and the guarantee of human rights … those are the three points in which we are and will continue to work on,” he explained.
Obviously the smartest chip in the bunch because IF the USA were to take any action (and they are not-only in the bus drivers mind) against Venezuela, there in not one nation in all of South America that can prevent.

Mar 11th, 2015 - 12:55 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Interesting posts, Ilsen. I sincerely hope the U.S. maintains this soft approach as anything stronger will play in to the hands of Maduro; he wants a fight with an outside enemy. Don't give it to him.

Mar 11th, 2015 - 02:00 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Thank you for the compliment, and your post..
Thanks,

Mar 11th, 2015 - 03:21 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Ilsen, Venezuela come up a fair amount in world news in the U.K. anyone interested in world news knows what is happening in Venezuela. There is often less coverage in South American news. It is surprising how disinterested people are here (I am currently in Chile) in the countries close by but focus on the U.S. and Europe.
Elaine
Mar 11th, 2015 - 05:52 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Chileans are more inclined to talk about football, but most of us are well aware of the the Bolivarian revolution disaster.
Mar 11th, 2015 - 06:06 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I have only just arrived so it will be interesting to see how people view the current government here. When I was here in October/November people previously supporters of Bachelet were rather inclined to complain about her policies.

Mar 11th, 2015 - 06:29 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Well, the 10 million Dollar loan scandal certainly has not helped her recent popularity, but her real problem is the economy.
Copper market affecting tax revenues? what about the consumers and employment?

Mar 13th, 2015 - 03:29 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Is obama the president from a country which invaded different countries, and killed a lot of civil populations?, is obama the president from a nation which supported several coup d'etats and dictatorships in the last 50 years?, is obama the president from a country where security forces commit terrible abuses like in venezuela, and in many other places?, if your answer is yes, then i think you will realize that you don't have to be so smart to recognize that obama's sanctions were no more than a hypocritical show, which tries to submit venezuela to the interests of the empire.
