The Falkland Islands economy has witnessed impressive, although volatile, growth in recent years with unemployment rates low enough to be the envy of most countries in the world and the government is free of debt, according to the latest State of the Economy released by the Falklands Policy Unit. I have an idea, let's run the FIG like Argentina!
Mar 25th, 2015 - 10:40 am - Link - Report abuse 0Inflation, income, external debt, total exports data to the IMF... All can be manipulated.
Sell your future to China, and blame your troubles upon someone else, like... Uruguay! (After all, small and a perfect patsy, and IF you invade, you have Punta del Este for vacation.)
This is the Falklands reality. All the crap from Argie trolls and CFK apologists will not affect our determination to push on to a stronger future.
Mar 25th, 2015 - 11:21 am - Link - Report abuse 0Self determination rules.
let me explain you some things, you brainless isleters and/ or chilotes.
Mar 25th, 2015 - 01:18 pm - Link - Report abuse 0the economy lol of the islets is NOT comparable to the economy of any other country of the region or the world.
and that is because the islets are NOT A COUNTRY.
they are a colony and worse, a toy society.
you want to compare that joke of economy with another?
then choose gibraltar, kunoshima islands, antipode islands, jaco islands, clipperton islands and shite like that.
as for oil, stop dreaming, you nabos.
it is a tiny little well with no commercial oil.
add to that that real oil has dropped its price to 50%.
so now that dirty water you have there must cost 0.0001% of oil price = 0 zero.
anyway, if the economy (lol) is so great as they say, why the fuck you dont build a hospital, a school, buy a ct scanner, etc?
However there is some uncertainty regarding the future of the economy since it is based on just a few commodities and is vulnerable to their market prices, besides the fact that the Falklands continues to face chronic challenges typical to small and remote economies.”
Mar 25th, 2015 - 01:25 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Yeah, so? The Falkland Islands have been operating under British governance for 325 years. Any reports of desperation? Famine?
One problem. Argieland. If argieland were to act in accordance with international law and the UN Charter, the Falklands would have no problems.
But the time will come. A full-scale deep-water port. Perhaps a second international airport on West Falkland. Fuel of every description supplied by the indigenous oil industry. A theme park. Hotels. A multi-branch railway. Off-shore water sports. Off-road vehicle trekking. Fly with the RAF (C-130 or Chinook). Sail with the RN (destroyer/frigate or patrol vessel). See Antarctica (HMS Protector). Use/habitation of many more islands. I wonder how many islands already have camouflaged military installations?

Mar 25th, 2015 - 03:46 pm - Link - Report abuse 0...buy a ct scanner
The ONLY working CT scanner in southern Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego is located in Punta Arenas.
Paulie- when will you ever stop living in fantasia land?
Mar 25th, 2015 - 04:07 pm - Link - Report abuse 0FACTS:
SeaLion Oil Field- commercially proven minimum reserves 300million barrels - maybe more - will know in a few months when current drilling completed.
Colony- look up the definition in your dictionary dumbo! Yes that is what we would be if we had to live here under and Argentine Govt we did not want nor had any say in voting for!
Current Falklands- an internal self governing democracy with all lawmaking powers held by the elected politicians.
Hospital - we have one - complete with Doctors and surgeon etc.
Access to a CT scanner 1.5hrs flight away whenever someone needs it.
School - We have 2 - one for infant and juniors and one for seniors up to 16 that teach same education standard as in UK.
Above 16 - no problems students go- free(all paid for by our Govt)- to colleges and universities in Europe and free airtravel home in holidays.
SeaLion Oil Field - Yes at current oil prices marginal economics to develop it - but where will oil prices be in 1-2-3 years time? Calculations also change if additional reserves found and proven.. Nobody as yet has the answer either way.
There you little chap- some FACTS.
@4 Hahahahahaha, Classic Pauly. Have you considered becoming a comedian? The rubbish you come out with is really that funny. I was going to once again prove you wrong but Islander1 & Chicureo have beat me to the punch.
Mar 25th, 2015 - 04:44 pm - Link - Report abuse 0If YOU needed to get to a CT scanner, how long would it take Pauly? A serious answer now, how long would it take to get someone from your area to a CT scanner?
Also, if the Falklands become an Argentine territory, would we be required to have a CT scanner on the islands? Or a University? And what would become of our natural resources (fishing, oil etc)? Would we have a degree autonomy from the state (like Hong Kong)? Can you answer these adult questions Pauly?

Mar 25th, 2015 - 05:34 pm - Link - Report abuse 0”Current Falklands- an internal self governing democracy with... A VICEROY ELECTED BY A 300 YEAR OLD QUEEN.
face it, you lot live in the 17ème siècle
@9 So no answers then? Probably because you don't have any, and because you are to indoctrinated to think for yourself. Now I will ask again.

Also, you could just write 17th century. And the Governor of the Falklands holds no real power.

Mar 25th, 2015 - 06:28 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Someone should tell Paulcedron that Canada is ALSO a self governing democracy with A VICEROY ELECTED BY A QUEEN OF a 300 YEAR OLD monarchy.
Like I said before, he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
so now the chilote bootlicker is comparing canada with the islets...
Mar 25th, 2015 - 07:02 pm - Link - Report abuse 0what is his level of education?
probably the bootlicker has never heard of the statute of westminster, the act of canada and stuff.
maybe the bootlicker does not know that canada is an independent, sovereign state.
maybe the bootlicker should read THE CANADIAN INDEPENDENCE http://www.sfu.ca/~aheard/324/Independence.html
and probably he can understand the differences between being a country and a colony.
a chilote who does not know a shite about anything?
not a surprise
@12 Really? Are you actually that stupid? CAN YOU ANSWER THESE SIMPLE QUESTIONS?!?!?!?!

Mar 25th, 2015 - 08:08 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I was just pointing out that although Canada and the Falklands are obviously quite different, both share having a Sovereign as head of State. Unlike in Argentina, the freely democratically elected leaders of both nations also enjoy the same core beliefs of honesty, fairness and transparency.
You'll have to forgive Paulcedron as the typical envious Argentine that can't stand the fact that their former humble neighbor on the other side of the Andes is now far superior in numerous key factors, including income, education, health care, retirement and defense. Whenever they're reminded of it, they start calling their neighbors silly things like Chilotes and remind everyone that they still have better asados and football players... (Which they do)
You know, everyone should show some sympathy for Argentines. A hundred years ago, their country was supposedly the 7th wealthiest nation on earth. Today they nearly share the same bottom tier of Zimbabwe and North Korea.
No sane person would swap the Queen as a head of state with an Argentine president.
Mar 25th, 2015 - 08:14 pm - Link - Report abuse 0If Paul wants to believe the Queen is 300 years old then the UK must have an awesome health care system considering CFK can't take 3 steps without breaking something these days.

Mar 25th, 2015 - 08:40 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Her Royal Majesty has aged gracefully, but Cristina is falling apart like a zombie. Her last major plastic surgery (you'll recall the supposed throat tumor) was botched and her face really needs a major overhaul.
@9. Simple one, Puerile Pablo. Define the difference between a governor and a viceroy. And Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith, was born on 21 April 1926. She is, therefore, 88 years old. Here is a picture taken in 2007. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Elizabeth_II#/media/File:Elizabeth_II_greets_NASA_GSFC_employees,_May_8,_2007_edit.jpg
Mar 25th, 2015 - 09:40 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Isn't she lovely? So much more class than that slag you have to worship. Do you understand 'slag'?
@12. Here's a question, Puerile Pablo. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Elizabeth_II#/media/File:Elizabeth_II_greets_NASA_GSFC_employees,_May_8,_2007_edit.jpg Now, tell us how the Falkland Islands is not a country. Base your argument on the material in the linked article. Or is it the one about; only a country if it suits my/argieland's purposes. Here's a funny. Argieland approached the British government for permission for regular commercial flights between somewhere in the slagheap/cesspit and the Falkland Islands. Properly referred to the Falkland Islands Government as a domestic issue. Never heard anymore. Perhaps if you argies could understand what a COUNTRY is. It's a distinct entity in political geography. Would you like to refer to the CIA World Factbook, pillock. It's quite authoritative. Sorry, I said 'pillock' when I meant 'mindless, brain-dead arse'.
@16. Check out the videos. Just look how bandy the old latino slag is. Guess how!

Mar 26th, 2015 - 01:16 am - Link - Report abuse 0have you ever asked yourself why people do not answer you?
have you ever asked yourself why people run away each time they see you?
choose the right answer.
tips: you can choose all of them.
1- because you bore them to death
2- because you stink
3- because you suck
4- because you smell
@18 Answers 2 & 4 are basically the same you retard.
Mar 26th, 2015 - 03:05 am - Link - Report abuse 0Have you ever wondered why people always laugh at you?
Pick an answer
1. You are an idiot
2. You are indoctrinated
3. You are poor
4. You love the Kirchners
I'm not sure why you can't answer my questions, is it because you are too immature? Any normal adult would be able to engage in an intellectual discussion I will ask one more time.
If YOU needed to get to a CT scanner, how long would it take Pauly? A serious answer now, how long would it take to get someone from your area to a CT scanner?

Would we have a degree autonomy from the state (like Hong Kong)? Can you answer these adult questions Pauly?
Now if Pauly can't answer this, is there at least ONE Argentine who will? I'm simply curious as Argentinians are always saying the Falklands are Argentine but I have never heard what Argentina's plans for the Islands are should they gain sovereignty.
Forgot to say, changed my account name as was getting bored with brainless nickname, and my name isn't Brian anyway. I can't wait to what else you come up with Pauly.
Mar 26th, 2015 - 11:10 am - Link - Report abuse 0so this imbecile @19 and 20 is the same imbecile @8, 10 and 13.
Mar 26th, 2015 - 12:39 pm - Link - Report abuse 0and it seems this imbecile posts the same imbecilities as the rest of the imbeciles of this 4th class site.
what an imbecile...
It's so typical that Argentines have envy of anyone that has it better than themselves. Paulcedron is in a rage that Canada and the Falklands have a monarch that happens to be the most admired living woman on the planet. His has a Botoxed witch who commands a bunch of flying monkeys like Timerman.
Mar 26th, 2015 - 05:19 pm - Link - Report abuse 0He also learns one new English word per month, and then uses it to excess. (see: @21 et al).
Mar 27th, 2015 - 01:08 am - Link - Report abuse 0This is proof of an inferior mind that can only copy, never truly engage and develop.
Sad, really.
Oh well, not my concern if he wants to continuely belittle himself.
The Falkland Islands Econony is still impressive, as per the article above.
That must be equally belittling as the malvinistas like to claim that the Falklands can't survive without Argentina.
haha! Wrong! Again! Another of their 'tropes' bites the dust!
lol!
@21 Yes Pauly, I said that I changed my profile name..... does this confuse your little Peronist indoctrinated brain? Also, I thought my questions were reasonable, why won't you answer them? So I will ask again.
Mar 27th, 2015 - 07:53 pm - Link - Report abuse 0If YOU needed to get to a CT scanner, how long would it take Pauly? A serious answer now, how long would it take to get someone from your area to a CT scanner?

Every time you don't answer you are making yourself look even more stupid, so just answer the questions.
