With less than a month to UK's election the Conservative party released its manifesto which explicitly declares that a Tory government “will uphold the democratic rights of the people of Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands to remain British, for as long as that is their wish, and protect our Overseas Territories”. I wonder if the Torie Manifesto is enough to counter the Argentine Constitution?

I really don't think this election will be won or lost on the protection of the overseas territories. Mercopress likes to kid its readers into thinking that.

300,000 unskilled migrants a year with no criminal checks walking our streets and going straight on benefits is a little more of concern to me. All this from our wonderful Conservative government that promised to reduce it to tens of thousands NO IFS NO BUTS!

@7. Are you playing the blame game? I am not what anyone would call a Conservative supporter BUT who opened the doors, who introduced the 'Human Rights' Act, who reckons that immigration is 'good for Britain'? Labour and the LibDems. That dimwit Cable even used an official trip to India to deliberately oppose the Prime Minister. And what happened next? A 'forced' deal with India to let even more in. Leaving aside UKIP, that frankly stand little or no chance of being a 'power' in the next Parliament which party is at least offering the possibility of a referendum on EU membership. Who are the blind people that want to stay in the EU despite the floods of migrants crossing the Mediterranean and coming over other routes. And what does wonderful EU partner Italy do? Instead of turning these people back to North Africa, it ships 'em in, gives 'em 'temporary' documents and lets them wander off. Where do they go? The UK. Can you see a route between Italy and the UK that doesn't involve going through another EU member? I can't. And every time the Conservatives come up with a plan to reduce the flow, Labour, the LibDems or something 'European' gets in the way.

Who says that the UK MUST provide for all immigrants in the same way that it does for its own citizens, and threatens international legal action? Who constantly appeals to British morals and principles? Who comes up with the most fatuous reasons why illegals and criminals can't be deported? Of course, if you're deliberately anti-Conservative, I won't convince you. But here's some clues. Who left a message saying 'Sorry, there's no money'. Who uses every opportunity to screw more money out of Britain? When one single nation decides to resist 27 grasping others, things take time. It took Labour 13 years to ruin Britain. Shouldn't the Conservatives be given at least the same amount of time to try to put things right?

Voice is angry, for reasons of his own, and this Man from La Mancha is tilting at windmills, as they say.

It's nothing more than the 'curse of autocorrect'.

I appreciate gordo1 pointing it out, and Buzzsaw and Isolde for lending true perspective.

We currently have a Tory government in Canada, just like the UK, and the term is commonly used.

The Liberal Party, or “Grits”, is now in Opposition.

At best, you're guessing, for the sake of your rant.

I am certainly not afraid to say that I would not consciously have written it that way, but I may have overlooked it - who knows, it's only important to you, it seems.

As to Tories, Whigs, Disraeli, etc. - yes, learned all about them in school - as would be expected in a good school.

We learned decorum and humility, also.

Oh, dear, the Voice is getting a bit shrill.

No matter, that's really your problem. You sound jealous, to me.

If you must bring up DerkeBlake, and I don't know why you would, as he doesn't post anymore, he is currently in China for the F1.
Derke, his real name, and I have met for a couple of pints and a chat.

He has been to the Falklands, recently. That's what brought him to MP.
Saw some great pictures from inside the Rose.
Lisa Watson was there, I recognised her from MP photos.

He also gave me a Falklands cap, and some aluminium scraps from a downed Chinook on East Falkland. I have them on my keychain.

Nice fellow. He lives in West Vancouver, and has a Terrier.

You might ask Enrique Massot, what he thought of Derke, when they met in Alberta.

Derke is quite interested in meeting Think in Chubut, as he is going to Patagonia soon.

He even said he'd like to meet you, if ever you get to Vancouver.

Bring Marcos and Vestige along - it shouldn't cost you any extra.

As to the Falklands, they are of historical, political, and human rights, interest.

Sorry, buddy - they're part of my heritage too, if you even ARE British, but hint you're not, LOL!!
Your tax contribution doesn't give you the right to say who comments about them, or who becomes friends with them - only at Election time, and if you hadn't backed out of your SNP support at the last minute, you wouldn't have a say at all.

    @19 Voice

Well, I guess I’ll have to me out of retirement for one post (in Macau at the moment).

    You say I don’t exist?

I have personally had pint(s) with TWO other regulars on here, and shown them my Passport and driver’s licence. Have you?

Troy is a successful company owner and heads a rather prestigious private organization, but of course is humble and decent enough not to brag about it on MP, or parade it in front of others that may not have acquired quite so fortunate a station in life. As a result, he has to be careful about releasing any personal information due to the presence of certain dangerous, vindictive, jealous internet trolls (yes, I’m looking at you).

As for Enrique, although we disagree on almost all political and economic issues, I can say without reservation that he is one of the most decent human beings that I have met in my life; and after learning his story, I suspect he is more of a MAN than ANYONE else on these boards (I know certainly more than me). He acquired his (sometimes) slanted views honestly, which is more than I can say for many. My wife and I are looking forward to an Argentinian BBQ at this house this summer.

Both Enrique and I post under our REAL, legal names; so the ambiguity is rather limited on this side of the pond (although here’s a tidbit to keep your stalking-gene up at night; did you ever consider that not everyone employs their FIRST given name socially? Spend the $400.00 and do a land registry or MOT search, then you can really have the perverted satisfaction of hunting me down; you’re not getting it for free. Very creepy).

I have a standing offer to meet anyone in Vancouver; anytime.
I will likely be at Dow Chemical Bahia Blanca sometime this fall installing a piece of my equipment (heat-exchanger/extruder), and might do a drive south if the work goes smoothly; and if El Think would kindly accommodate me for a pint or a glass.

I won't hold my breath waiting for the apology.
    Bravely anonymous, aren't you.

Argentina Starts Legal Action against UK Oil Companies
They will do anything, anytime to destroy democracy by peaceful means

Mr Filmus said the area being explored was “as much ours as the centre of Buenos Aires.
It’s ours, all ours and we aren’t sharing with a bunch of pirates,
We will fight you in the courts, in the arena , and in the streets, in the name of peace.

Adding that the firms were ”performing illegal acts by entering Argentine territory
Tensions between London and Buenos Aires have again been raised after Argentina initiated legal proceedings against three British and two American companies drilling for oil and gas off the Falkland

We are determined to cause maximum chaos and misery

    British reply,
The Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has slammed the move as “an outrageous piece of bullying”.
“It's an outrageous abuse of international procedure and we will take any action we can to resist it”
Mr Hammond went on to say that the Foreign Office was talking to the United States about what possible action to take
