The Falkland Islands Government welcomed Thursday's announcement by Premier Oil and partners that the 14/20-1 ‘Isobel Deep’ exploration well has been declared an oil discovery. Isobel Deep in the North Falkland basin, is the second well of a six-well offshore campaign planned to take place in the Islands waters through 2015. Read full article

May 29th, 2015 - 01:46 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Yes, I likely have benefited in some way, way off way from the blood and treasure plundered by my ancestors. Then again, I may be a victim - like you people? Who knows, the past is the past, although I suspect you have more of an immigrant back story then me: how about you emigrate back to what ever Naples or Seville slum your grandparents came from. No?
@4. Yeah, it's so 'insignificant' that your 'government' is running scared. It's found out that it can do NOTHING. Unless it wants to start another war. Aren't you supposed to be 'peaceable'. Here's a tip. Want to watch what can be flown in using C-17s? C-130s refuelled by Voyagers? A400Ms ditto. Watch it arriving in 2-3 days. Is there a Tomahawk-armed submarine off your shores? Others on the way? In 1982, the US offered the USS Iowa Jima in the event that we British lost an aircraft carrier.
May 29th, 2015 - 01:46 pm - Link - Report abuse 0@6. You are such an arse. Incidentally, when you get around to your latest batch of puerile anti-Islander insults, I'm not an Islander. Go figure, you genocidal, murdering, lying piece of slug shit!
@6 When are you travelling to the Falklands Pauly? You said a couple of months ago that you would be here in a couple of months? Did you lie? Or are you waiting on orders and funding from your Peronist masters?
May 29th, 2015 - 01:54 pm - Link - Report abuse 0There are rumours that this latest oil find is absolutely huge. Expect even more Argentina indignation and empty threats. The Islanders can have confidence that their future is financially secure.

May 29th, 2015 - 09:37 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Paulie- nobody knows yet how big or small this oil find is you plonker! That is why the will need to do more study of the data and then drill again. Do you know anything at all about the Oil Industry?
May 29th, 2015 - 10:36 pm - Link - Report abuse 0If they drill again- at current oil prices - then it is clear they think it will be worth it.
Brassy- The AMERICANS on that rig in Gulf of Mexico did not maintain nor check nor correct when faulty their Blow Out Preventer - that is what went wrong.
Off the Falklands several back up systems are in place on the B.O.P. - any one of which can activate it - but if just one of those several backups fails a test - then drilling stops until all systems are tested positive again- that is BRITISH North Sea Safety Standards.
Brasil nut Ihear tbere are oil slicks in the bay where they are practicing for the Olympic sailing competition. Oh! I just heard its not an oil slick its a load of turds! How dare you lecture the Brits on safety standards. Have you been in the filthy disgusting favellas?

What does Irish folk music have to do with the Falkland Islands?
@16. England is not involved.
May 30th, 2015 - 10:16 am - Link - Report abuse 0@21. About 100 times better than you. How many people have you killed recently 'building' stadiums in which to park cars. With all your fantastic wealth, why don't you empty that bay, clear up the shite and re-fill it?
@22. Getting desperate now, loser? What do YOU know about mineral resources? Let's have a link to your (translated) dissertation!
@23. Tizón argieland.
@25. Why would THE SLOB answer your question? He doesn't have any answers. Or opinions of his own. He's just a semi-animated pile of brown, green, yellow, turdish vomit trying to find the right place in his 'government'-issued scribbled propaganda leaflet.

Just so the red carpet can be bought to the right location, amigo
Brassy 21- British and European North sea Oil and Gas Safety Standards are what we use in the Falklands Zone - they are recognized as being among the best and safest in the World.

Your post is absolutely dripping in jealousy.
You see, this is EXACTLY why I support and welcome the good news from the Falkland Islands!! You do know, of course, that our national animal is the underdog don't you? This IS great news, long awaited and richly deserved by our brothers and sisters in the South Atlantic.
argentina has been trying all that it can to stifle their voices, label them as not people and has even invaded them, all to no avail.
Just think!!! If you had been a friend to the Islanders, you might be making plans with them right now on how to support them. Their good fortune could have been your good fortune......
So you had better just go back to doing what your good at....which is what, by the way? Or just go back to felching and changing bed pans.
The Islanders , in the near future may be putting a claim into the C24 for argentina. You are part of the Falkland Islands you know? You are an implanted population and argentina is on the same Atlantic plate as the Falklands......
@29 Paul
May 31st, 2015 - 12:27 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It's not so much a street, but a run-way.
Please, please please land there-if by chance the poor Falkland Islanders haven't got a red carpet, it might possibly be red after you have landed, hah ha.
I'll make sure Air Traffic are informed of your callsign and a guard of honour will be provided by the FIDF on your arrival-bayonets fixed.
Can I presume your callsign Is Charlie Tango-Sierra Charlie Alpha November?
To show you the respect you deserve, you will be met and driven into town by cutting edge Argentine technology, a four wheel drive mobility scooter with a tin roof welded on to it-hope that suits.
@29. I think you misunderstand. Your sluggards don't even have the courtesy to treat our Head of State with proper respect. A recent tv programme actually suggested that 'royal' individuals are actually different. But then argies can't even tell the difference between humans, sub-humans and queers.
May 31st, 2015 - 12:38 pm - Link - Report abuse 0IF you get to step on a red carpet, it's only because your blood won't show. And we can roll your corpse up and toss it overboard to feed marine animals.
Always difficult to understand why you continually insert the word 'fatso'. IF someone is actually 'fat', what difference does it make? They may like to be 'fat'. Or perhaps 'well-fed'. Are you actually jealous that they can afford to eat the proper number of meals every day? Perhaps with snacks and treats between. Have you noticed a comparison of GDP (PPP) per capita? Argieland - $22,459, UK - $39,510, Falkland Islands - $55,400. Do you understand? You're poor. A tiny group of Islands, way out in the South Atlantic, can show a GDP 2 1/2 times that of yours. Between 7,000 and 8,000 miles to the north, an advanced nation can show a GDP 3/4 greater than yours. And this together with the ability to maintain top rank military forces and project power around the world. Where does argieland project power? The seabed? Curiously, in the early 20th century, Britain started to dismantle its empire, giving lands back to the indigenous people. Meanwhile, argies, being two-faced lying tossers, would like to 'colonise' (steal). It can't give land back to the indigenous people. It killed them. Who's a brain-dead, imbecilic, government parrot? How's the big beak? Easy to track you. Perhaps you put a hand down and shove your thumb in. Preparing for SNACK TIME!
