Falklands' 'fk' domain battle at the ICANN Buenos Aires conference

Saturday, June 27th 2015 - 06:46 UTC
Full article 55 comments

The British government has stood up to Argentina in a battle over the Falkland Islands' right to exist in cyberspace at the ICANN conference in Buenos Aires. Argentina is furious that the disputed territory is allowed to give websites a “.fk” address - identifying them as hailing from the disputed territory and brought up the issue during the current conference. I thought Argentina was determined to respect the way of life of the islanders, and this was written into their very Constitution. At least that's what Hector the Hortible has benn telling everybody recently. But does this move at ICANN mean the islanders wouldn't be allowed an .fk domain in the event of an anscluss by Argentina?

God any organisation must shudder when it realises it is going to deal with Argentina.

    It's like primary school.

Some non-state entities with a code:
    .ax Åland
    .aq Antartica
    .eus Basque Country
    .bv Bouvet Island
    .cx Christmas Island
    .cc Cocos Island
    .eh Western Sahara
    .fo Faeroe Islands
    .gb Gibraltar
    .gl Greenland
    .hk Hong Kong
    .hm Heard and McDonald Islands
    .nf Norfolk Island
    .ps Palestine
    .tf French Antartica
    .tw Taiwan

    That's not even half.

Build a bridge Argentina.... then jump off it.

Another attempt to bully a few thousand people, another failure.

How many more times you Latino numbskulls -if you want the Falklands, either:
1/- Persuade the Islanders it's a great idea to be Argentine.
    2/-Go to the ICJ.
    3/- Invade again

The drip-drip bullying will not get you the Islands, it'll just make the Islanders more determined not to be Argentine.

”2 tv: “The earliest version of the CRT was invented by the German physicist Ferdinand Braun in 1897 and is also known as the Braun tube”.

Sorry, grasping Argie, a CRT is NOT television. Television, was devised by the Englishman, Mr. Baird, using a more advanced version of the CRT as only one component.
By the 1930's, the British were using television, but it took so much power, and the transmitters got so hot they could only broadcast for 2 hours a day.

The Germans used Television very effectively, to broadcast Nazi propaganda in Germany, before WWII.

All this while your country was still violently subduing the indigenous and inconvenient Indian population for their entertainment.

CFK has recently made very good use of TV the brainwash your masses and drug them with state-funded football broadcasts!

    Read and weep:
Alan Mathison Turing, OBE, FRS (/ˈtjʊərɪŋ/; 23 June 1912 – 7 June 1954) was a British pioneering computer scientist, mathematician, logician, cryptanalyst, philosopher, mathematical biologist, and marathon and ultra distance runner. He was highly influential in the development of computer science, providing a formalisation of the concepts of algorithm and computation with the Turing machine, which can be considered a model of a general purpose computer.[2][3][4] Turing is widely considered to be the father of theoretical computer science and artificial intelligence.[

Why not a fair judgement?.. :) unless Argentina as a sign of progress has started calling the islands Falklands, they shouldn't be such cretins as to ask for the .fk domain. Argentina should ask and get the .ml or mv. domain if someone hasn't got it already somewhere else.. They could give it to the capital of the Malvinas .. Ushuaia founded by the British .. so that all in Tierra del Fuego could be on the mv. or ml or whatever domain so that they can be proud and show off and play their silly games with that.

You are correct to say weep.

This brilliant mind was hounded to death by a government who abhorred homosexuals.

Unable / unwilling to stand the hypocrisy of a government who tolerated extra-marital affairs within their midst AND, without a doubt, some clandestine homosexual relationships, he killed himself by eating a poisoned apple.

What a damnable waste all because some sexual midgets couldn't accept him for what he was.

Even The Cunt Brown © Jeremy Clarkson 2010 decided enough was enough and expunged his criminal record. This was probably the only honourable thing TCB did in his life.

@16. I've heard of what you call the “atanasoff- berry computer”. I thought it was designed by an argie and was actually the “at an arse off- bury computer?”Wasn't programmable was it? Could only “compute” linear equations. Not really a computer. Even one of the very first computers I ever used could do more than that. But then argies like to claim that a stone axe found in the Casa Rosada is evidence that argieland invented space travel. Actually, it's evidence that Kirchner has to be shattered and rebuilt every day.
@19. But the Colossus computer was “the world's first programmable, electronic, digital computer”. The “at an arse off- bury computer” couldn't say the same, could it?
@26. “Royal Navy destroys argie Tierra del Fuego. Now sailing north toward Buenos Aires. Underway replenishment in progress. Another 25 cruise missiles being transferred to each submarine as they surface in turn”.
@27. Gloster Meteor. 100 purchased by argieland when it had money.
de Havilland Comet. 6 purchased by argieland. When it was running out of money.
@38. The important thing to remember is that The Dark Country has been shortchanged. All it got was .ar. What was wrong with giving it .ar.se? Does it have a problem with its fingers getting stuck to its keyboards. The little wankers.

Off to the UN with a list of all the articles of the UN Charter that argieland is breaching. So much better than silly, resolutions that aren't binding. But argieland signed and ratified the UN Charter. Amazing to think we can destroy states that fail to comply with the Charter they signed and ratified.

Our former colonial masters, the British, used to be renowned for their terrifying navy, which would obliterate rival fleets and bombard barbarian cities from the sea in order to pave the way for colonial conquest. Unfortunately, the Brits are stone cold broke now, having spent all their Pounds Sterling on booze, and so their navy sucks. CASE IN POINT: the HMS Astute, a fancy new submarine that is supposed to be invisible to sonar because of fancy British technology, not-so-astutely got itself stuck in the mud off the coast of Scotland. I think it must be a close run thing for the title “Dumbest Fucker In Argentina” with so may dumb fuckers in the country but guess what?

    YOU HAVE WON!

A story from 2010 about a brand-new British submarine, one of the most complex mechanisms on the planet, and it had a slight control malfunction due to a faulty part which was replaced easily and cost (if memory serves me well) about U$D 37!

Contrast that with your old TR1700's that lie in your docks unable to set to sea nevermind dive: well not if they want to surface again anyway. AND the cost of repairs for this old, obsolete junk AND the fact that your country never pays it's bills has made Blohm & Voss wash their hands of them.

Meanwhile, your worst nightmare, a British submarine MIGHT be sitting 200 miles off the coast with cruise missiles already targeted to take The Pink Whorehouse out. Let us hope so anyway.
