Full article 42 comments

Argentina's flag carrier sacked two pilots and banned a glamorous star and part time stripper from flying in the airline following the release of a video where she is seen in the cabin manipulating some of the instruments when taking off and landing. Victoria Xipolitakis personally offered the recording in her cellular to a local television channel triggering immediate reaction from Aerolineas Argentinas, air security authorities and even passengers. Apparently the first officer said and I quote “ that is not the joystick you are holding ” to which she replied “ I didn't realise tht joysticks were only 3” long”
LOL. Only in Argentina and backwood countries.

Imagine being on a flight that was cancelled because the pilots were fighting in the cockpit. Aerolineas.

I don't think “fighting” is the verb that readily comes to mind after that article Elaine.

    @4 Flirting? Ha.

Showing off. Very child-like but it does seem that the stripper had them in her thrall.

I have only flown with Aerolineas Argentinas once.

I have, however, on my many journeys between South America and the UK, made use of Iberia (frequently), Air Italia, Air France (frequently), and KLM.
Also, internally, LAN Chile, Avianca, Avior, Conviasa, LASER and several others.
    Many, many times.

    Aerolineas Argentinas the one time.
    Never again.
    I need say no more.

Except that I am not surprised by this article. Not at all.

...Actually, if you're someone who enjoys being degraded and humiliated like a doormat by the airline staff, that wants to risk your precious life as well by potentially experiencing a terrifying, heart in your throat and white knuckles experience; Aerolineas Argentinas is the airline to choose...

My friend in Mendoza, always flys over on LAN to Santiago and then flys LAN for his international connections. Aerolineas Argentinas has been cited numerous times for poor maintenance.

I think this is the proof thread.

Everyone from @1 to @12 is a RACIST.

    100% RACIST.

I have heard MANY TIMES of similar incidents of protocol violations in many many airlines, from every single country and continent on the world.

Yet here we have these racists singling out Aerolineas.

I will bring articles about the multitude of other airline incidents. It will show the above racists for what they are: racists.

Well the Argentines themselves have plenty to say just how bad their national airline is absolutely one of the worst airlines.

    http://www.bubblear.com/aerolineas-argentinas-terrible-airline-buys-shiny-new-planes/

Here is a forum by an Argentine of complaints Aerolineas.

    http://www.bubblear.com/aerolineas-argentinas-terrible-airline-buys-shiny-new-planes/

Frankly, Aerolineas Argentinas is one of the world's worst airlines and is to be avoided at all costs, especially on a long haul. Their counter staff and flight attendants are exceptionally rude and inattentive. Their lounges are shabby.
Their business class product is outdated by at least twenty years. They are notorious for work stoppages, mechanical delays, and hemorrhaging massive amounts of money. LAN, on the other hand, is a well run operation that has an extensive intra-Argentina network.

Well as they say, in the land of the Blind the Cyclops is king.

You can't help but squirt your pathetic nationalism can't you.

LAN is a mediocre airline at best. It is run “ok” in the sense it is viable and makes a profit (I think), but in terms of overall service, quality, amenities, it is a grain of sand in the beach. At best middle of the pack.

For sure I never fly them as I don't want my cash flowing to Chile or Brazil.

Many many many Rgs have never flown.

BTW what's the new race you claim to be?

Google Aerolineas Argentinas airlines rankings in service and in safety. It's embarrassing.

LAN Airlines has been ranked the best airline in South America for the past 7 years. It's a very profitable company that has linked together LAN Chile, LAN Peru, LAN Argentina and TAM of Brazil. Aerolineas Argentinas on the hand has lost 100s of millions over the past decade.

Third world, to be expected really. Argentina are too insignificant to warrant any terrorist action, its is clear that the pilots cockpit seems to be open to one and all. It is kept shut for the whole flight in developed countries.

You are right. It's unbelievable and trying to follow the money is mind blowing...

Clarín recently reported that Aerolineas Argentinas owns only two of its 48 planes and that in the last nine years it had received from the Federal Treasury US$ 4.7 billion.

As of December 2014, Aerolíneas Argentinas was state-owned. ..... Losses had mounted to US$927 million since 1992.

”The Argentine government, has come under fire from local media after a government gazette last week revealed that the carrier had received an additional ARS955.6million (USD112.18million) in funding from the Argentine treasury despite forecasts it will make a ARS4billion (USD469.59million) loss for its current financial year.”

As of November 2014, Net loss of 1 BILLION 396 HUNDRED MILLION Dollars in losses.

    39. I think the legal status of Aerolineas Argentina is still in limbo after all of these years. My guess is they are keeping it in limbo because NML could/would seize the assets as soon as they left Argentina.

Cat-shit has far more class & is far more acceptable that a ridiculous airline from a ridiculous country.

The pilots could have saved themselves if, during the flight, they had kept repeating the national mantra - “Malvinas Son Argentinas”..!!! There would have been a public outcry if they were then fired and Cristina would have personally praised them for their great patriotic spirit. The “Malvinas” issue is far more important to Argentina than such trivial issues as airline safety or the cleanliness of their cities.
