Argentina Dan broadcast what it wants but I doubt anyone on the islands actually listen.

Of course the UK could just as easily broadcast a Spanish language newscast to Argentina telling people the truth about everything from the reality of the Falklands dispute to the real state of Argentinas economy and security situation, but we really don't care enough to bother.

Just think the Argentine government is wasting the tax payers money on this nonsense whilst Argentine children are living in slums and starving.

Really pathetic when you think about it.

It is a complete waste of money. The U.S. broadcast to Cuba for years at a cost of $2m per year but it achieved nothing. Still, Argentina is such a wealthily country that throwing away a few million to keep President Plastic Fantastic happy is surely the way to go.

    Silly Argies!
The reason there has been no comment since it first started - and I suppose then a few commented on the daft idea - is simply because we do NOT listen to it!!! We have no need to- plenty of local radio here and Radio 5 live and BBC World service.
But I suppose that concept is beyond Radio 24 to understand!

If the “population” have the right to hear the news in their own language then surely it should be called “Falklands Bulletin” - how is “Argentine News Bulletin” an accurate translation?

While Ayala seems open to learning lessons from 1982 it's a shame he hasn't learned that Argentina should stop trying to steal the islands rather than merely learning to do it more nicely.

As for “leaving aside the sovereignty dispute” - yes that would be a great idea.

    “Germany Calling, Germany Calling...”

Surprised no one thought of this.

    But the telling statement:
“the people of Malvinas have the right to receive the news in their language”
OK they have got the name of the islands wrong, but acknowledging thy Falkland Islanders native language is not the same as the language of Argentina, is interesting.

Oh and the briefest mention of 1982.

Any UN declarations , binding or otherwise prior to 1982 are null and void.

The people of the Falklands want to be left in peace.

This currently requires a significant Military commitment by the UK.

But as the oil starts to flow I can imagine the Falklands will divert a small fraction of the fortune they will generate to their own Defense.

It's comical in a tragic sort of way; That this chap , Ayala seems to give himself some sort of credence with the Islanders. He seems to feel his state has some sort of “obligation” to the Kelpers . I wonder if the Kelpers share his magnanimity. Apparently Arg radio has “global reach” through some sort of “public radio system” Is that why it's so popular in the UK ?Is that why your DJ's are on the lips of every UK teenager ? What a load of twaddle and pompous twaddle at that.
The real issue is you've been broadcasting for two years and what does independent market research tell you the audience of this station is ? Is this the only radio station in the world broadcasting to 3000 people but listened to by absolutely zero of its target audience ?
Reaches all parts of the Falklands territory “with no problem”
Don't you think you have a rather fundamental problem ? One that is staring you in the face .
The reason for this station's existence is recondite Its excuse banal . And to celebrate two years of its complete and utter failure ..publicly, simply beggars belief.

reach and “to guarantee the right to information of the English speaking population”.

Perhaps these twats should insure that the argentine public receives
the right to information , and the right to the truth abt the British Falkland's,

bet they have no interest .

”The idea is to show our own reality from government policies to the massive cultural activities that take place in Argentina”.

By all means beam it 'globally' here (UK). I would like a laugh, it would be fascinating to watch the tyre burning championships.

Also it must be fascinating to hear the 'truth' of broadcast INDEC figures.

I hope there is a historical aspect like programmes broadcast about the Hallidays who settled Santa Cruz (from Goose Green Isolde?)before the Argies had decided to move south after their long siesta.

No doubt they will broadcast about Bishop Stirling who founded Ushuaia and the mission station at Keppel Island, where at least some attempt was made to help the Yaghans, rather than exterminating them.

“At first there were adverse reactions in internet and local media from the Islands but with time things quieted down ”

If they are that desperate just write a round robin letter and post it once a month theres less than 2000 households so argentina should be able to afford the stamps.
More likely to be read even if just for amusement than expecting people to stay up to midnight

    YES...

”the people of Malvinas have the right to receive the news in their language. It's also a way of ending with all that nonsense from the (1982) war when the first thing done was to interrupt English broadcasting and replace it with a Spanish transmission“.

I guess although an English language broadcast they probably do not use the name the natives of the Islands use for their homeland.

No one is interested in the lies broadcast by this greasy little man or his laughable organisation. President Corruptina Kirchner cannot open her twisted lips without lying, whether it’s about the Falklands, Argentina’s soaring inflation, starving families in her Godforsaken land, the living standards “higher than Germany”, the massive defaults, the billions in unpaid debts. Truly you could not make it up.
Argentina’s people can rest assured, though, that the rest of the world recognises the Kirchner regime for what it is: failed, corrupt, bankrupt. Argentina is now recognised as the Zimbabwe of Latin America. Well done, Corruptina. Keep up the good work. Ja, ja, ja, ja...

    “Marcelo Ayala” with pleasure:
'Marcelo Saville II', I know it's a bit cruel but the argies deserve it.

“Champagne Charlie Ayala” The French have a Champagne AYALA! It's full of gas and makes you burp: sounds like the ideal drink for argies as they are full of gas but from the other.

The name Ayala is tied with the Philippines and I don't want to take the piss out of them. So my apologies for the feeble attempts at satire! ;o)

    @32 ChrisR

I thought Greasy Gaucho would be perfect but now don't think it's witty enough. Contempt has to shown for a bloke that condescendingly thinks like many Argentines, that the Islanders are stupid enough to think that news from a failed state is better in English and aproviding a service, when in reality no one listens, but it is he who is too stupid to see the joke is on him.

I mean what prat is happy that the signals can get through to the Islanders, as if the UK is trying to jam the signals when the reality is that none of the target audience listens?

And after two year,s if the Islanders have never heard of this, it is surely a massive fail to anyone except a Malvanista! And they are celebrating!

My knowledge of Ayala corresponds to Rueben Ayala, an Argentine football player, either from the 1974 or 1978 world cup.

But I'll settle for Champagne Charlie as it is deeply satiric.

As @12 golfcronie points out, the geezer badly needs a wash and a Champagne Charlie might be normally seen to be immaculately presented, so LMAO to that one Chris. Also he mimics the champagne:“
It's full of gas and makes you burp: sounds like the ideal drink for argies as they are full of gas but from the other.”

I haven't heard whether or not this radio station is re-employing Korned Beef Kate.

Perhaps she is no longer with us, or got the sack because she failed to convince the task force in 1982 to turn around and head back to the UK.

I can't honestly say I am giving this post the seriousness it deserves-it is so farcical as to be extremely funny, and I really imagine Champagne Charlie on leaving the studio, dons a sombrero, grabs a lasso and jumps onto a horse to become a stereotypical gaucho.

According to the picture their transmitter is stuck in the sea halfway between Argentina and the Falklands. Maybe that's why nobody listens to Champagne Charlie.
