Difficult times for the Argentine Air Force, not only was the Minister of Defense Agustín Rossi caught asleep during the celebration of the service's anniversary, but also as of next Tuesday administrative staff at the headquarters Edificio Condor will be working a shorter shift, from 08:00 in the morning to 13:00 hours with the purpose of savings in power and other supplies as well as rationing catering. I love the predictability of socialism. The only variable is how long it takes to fail, not 'if' it will fail. The won decade bearing sweet fruit.

Caught“ napping” again, it also happened in 1982 when the AAF were shot down in the hundreds.

Cannot afford to run their Headquarters 24/7.

    Good Grief.

    Does this count as demilitarization?

Well it does lower the treat posed towards to peaceful people of the Falkland Islands.
    Well done Argentina, wink.

Excellent news ,not just for the Falklander's but all Argentina's neighbours. But why stop at the military I'm sure the country itself will benefit from a drastic reduction in politicians and curtailing the remainders hours and expenses.
Lets see some more of this.

“The only previous recent record of such drastic measures goes back to mid 2001, when the Argentine Army implemented the so called “partial inactivity” agenda, including cutting the week to four working days.”

They could cut it to zero and not notice any change apart from no planes will fall out of the sky due to frame fatigue as they have in the last few years.

Ships rolling over in dock, no in date ammunition for the big guns and no ammunition (almost) for what is laughingly called the army.

You can now see why Rossi was smiling behind his daughter's back! She will have to keep him soon!

    Oh, the joy!

Remember, its only your territory if you can defend it. This would be an excellent opportunity for Chile and Paraguay to take back when they lost over the last few years.
Give the Argentinians a brighter future.

Whenever I'm having lunch at the Círculo Militar in Buenos Aires, I'm always impressed how packed it is with active commissioned highly salaried officers partaking in their habitual 4 hour visits as there is nothing else for them to do. With a valid military ID, they get a 20% across the board discount and that includes the Scotch.

If Chile or Paraguay wanted to surprise attack Argentina, they could bomb the Círculo Militar at 2PM on a weekday and easily wipe out 85% of central command. (Although it would be a pity to destroy such a beautiful building...)

It might be good timing to settle up with the rotting roadkillians at this juncture and redraw the frontier.

Who would come to there aid?

Dilma is a little distracted at the moment.

Castro the lesser has no resources for it.

    Maduro?

    Poor Argentna,
hey I know, we are flying over 50 spitfires and hurricanes in a flypast soon
perhaps we could sell them to Argentina,
    oh no,

on the other hand, if this is the way they treat their AIR FORCE, then there is no way we could sell them our rarest planes,
    they will just ruin them,

After all, look at the way they just let the Argentine navy, just sit there and sink or fall over and rust.

    still,
the less you thugs have, the less you threaten the islanders....

So what if Augustín Rossi was caught napping....by staying awake is he going to make the grounded aircraft fly again ??

“....partaking in their habitual 4 hour visits as there is nothing else for them to do”......C'mon Chicureo, you can't blame them.....at least they are making sure they eat well, differently to most of the poor Argie population.

UK no longer needs a Type 45 destroyer to wipe out Argie's air force. A water pistol will suffice.

Anyone know where the Trolls have gone to?

This is a good news story for all peace loving people.

Tell you what I'll give the Trolls a bad news story about the UK to whine about:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-33971890

Inflation rate has skyrocketed in the UK from 0.0 to 0.1 %.

@15. There is no way we could sell Spitfires or Hurricanes to argieland. For a start these are iconic BRITISH machines. We went as far as selling the English Electric Canberras and Type 42 destroyers. We knew how to destroy them. But shoot down a Spitfire or a Hurricane? No way.
@20. Easy. You can't afford an air farce. The boats will roll over and sink by themselves. The army can take their tank home to help at the supemarket. Wouldn't get in the way of a Mini though.

A country which no longer possess valid armed forces, with a defense minister who naps during official activities.
    Enough said.

    @20 MagnusMaster

Try not to be too upset about it. Even if the Argentine government allocated load of money to the airforce, none of it would arrive as it would disappear into the pockets of various corrupt officials and officers.

Just like the $2 billion dollars allocated to Argentina's airline. Disappeared. Gone. Vanished. Never to be seen again.

And just like all the money that has been spent over the years on repairing your ice breaker. With the amount that has been spent 'repairing' it, Argentina could've bought 2 brand new ones. But like always the money disappears.

If this kind of thing really upsets you then you must fight against the endemic corruption that inflitrates in way into every level of Argentina national and local government. Until you do then you will never get any shiny new toys.

    @24 MagnusMaster

As the old Chinese Proverb says: “The journey of a 1,000 miles begins with one step.”

Of course it won't be easy. The corruption goes deep and has been in place for generations.

But just because something is difficult doesn't mean you should give up. If you, and many other Argentines, put as much effort and desire into tackling corruption as you do into your Malvina's fantasy, then you would have it beaten in no time at all.

But you have to have the will to change things. A mythical fairy isn't going to show up and magic all your problems away.

And that is what the Malvinas myth is all about. For generations you've been sold a lie. If, only IF, Argentina could get it's hands on the Falklands then ALL your problems would magically disappear.

But that isn't true. Even if you gain sovereignty of the Falklands tomorrow Argentina's problems would continue, you'd just spread them to the Falklands too.

And then your government would come out and say if, ONLY IF the 'rebellious' province of Uruguay was a part of Argentina the all of your problems would disappear.

The Malvinas, like the belief that Uruguay is a rebellious province, are just smoke screens to the indoctrinated masses to distract them from the fact that successive governments have consistently robbed Argentina of as much money as they could get their hands on.

Argentina should be one of the richest countries on the planet. You should be in a position of influence. You should be forward looking, and a country that other countries would look to and say “we want to be like that”.

But the only thing stopping Argentina from taking it's place as a world leader is the people of Argentina. And only the people of Argentina can change things.

Or you can continue for another 50 years, crying about land you never owned and don't have a legal title to, instead of looking after, and developing the huge resources that you already have.

    Your choice.

Some have advocated totally eradicating corruption in rotting roadkill.

I reject this out of hand because mass genocide is never an acceptable solution.

@25 we aren't told that if we got malvinas all of our problems would magically disappear. You must be deluded.

Argentine military capability almost all gone
    BY GEORGE ALLISON · AUGUST 20, 2015
Things don’t look any better for the other services, the depleted Argentine Navy rarely puts to sea, has almost no spare parts and for the most part, doesn’t actually have any ammunition

The Argentine Army has deployed on operations without some of even the most basic equipment
    https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/argentine-military-capability-almost-all-gone/

this is what happens when you have a deluded government hell bent on destroying Argentina for the sake of islands that you have never owned , run , or administered,

    Leave the British Falkland’s Alone.
