What a pure waste of comment above.

I will however utilised my comment to thank Her Majesty for her decades of service to all her Realms. And appreciate the dedication she has given.

Long may she reign over us.

Agreed, she has done her duty almost faultlessly over a very long period. Its reckoned that the Royal family has been worth £57 billion to the UK.

I am not a Republican but I do believe the Royals are of benefit to the people of the UK, tbe Commonwealth and the BOTs in economic terms and the small amount of constancy and stability they impart to British Politics. Those who err like Fergie the grabber and Diana the airhead get shown short shrift. And Andy has had to toe the line up to a point.
I had lunch at the Ritz two weeks ago. Faded grandeur with oddles of bling and foreign flunkies in spades. The food was good but I came out thinking that this sort of place may reflect the part of Britain some admirers seek but to me it represented the old forelock tugging class ridden Britain that existed 50 years ago and what would foreigners think of us after their visit. Some of the latinos seem to think that thats what we are all like but I know its simply not the case we left snobbery, colonialism and class behinf in the 60s. What foreign visitors see is simply something to feed their need to reinforce their own predjudice.

I still think that latino ladies do not wear well… only saying…

There can be no doubt that Her Majesty has done everything she said she would do and more than her people could have thought to ask of her. I remember my father taking us to see the coronation procession. An experience I hardly understood at the time. I remember the many years where Christmas lunch revolved around the Queen's Speech. For those who can see how countries operate over decades, it has been a privilege to watch our Queen. I think of how many times she must have met with her many Prime Ministers and, with her much greater experience, how much advice and guidance she must have given.

    God save Her Majesty.

Agreed. There are few world leaders that command the respect HM does.

As the article states, King Bhumibol Adulyade of Thailand has been reigning for 6 years longer and yet doesn't command anywhere near the international presence of HM.

62 speeches in 63 years with a total of 10 hours (this is less than 10 minutes each). CFK gives this weekly...and she had given one speech using the national system one per week this year !!!

Does anybody know if Queen Elizabeth II has ever visited Argentina? (Either in a private visit or in an official one).

    Great job Elizabeth !!!

No..The Queen has visited the Big 3 in Latin America (Mexico, Brazil and Chile) but not found the time to visit some of the less significant or developed countries in the region.

@9. If you could only come up with something intelligent. Kirchner doesn't “speak”. She (giving her the benefit of the doubt) whines, whinges, browbeats and lies. If she yatters that much, either she (?) or her audience is a glutton.

I don't believe that Her Majesty is too keen on slumming.
@11. Perhaps that's what she feels. Pity. If we didn't have so many reasons to hate you, we might pity you as well. But you don't pity a turd when you flush it. Or bury it. You just hope the cockroaches eat it before it's necessary to fumigate.

No the Queen never visited Argentina. And not because of the petty (and droll reasons) some above have posted.

More the pity she didn't. Her visits are a way of connecting and binding different countries. And considering the connections that Argentina seems keen on deepening at this moment with some less savoury countries such as Venezuela, Iran and Russia; it is a loss to both Britain and Argentina.

The Queen visited 127 countries during her reign. Which would fill quite a few passports if she actually needed one.

    In the Americas she visited:
Canada (most frequently visited country in the world)
    United States
    Belize
    Mexico
    Panama
    Guyana
    Brazil
    Chile
    Saint Kitts and Nevis
    Antigua and Barbuda
    Dominica
    Saint Lucia
    Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
    Barbados
    Grenada
    Trinidad and Tobago
    Antigua

Which is pretty much half of the region's sovereign countries. I'm unsure how some of above could possibly skew their warped sense of logic in having HM visit St Lucia but not Colombia or Argentina.

The truth is more that the Queen doesn't involve herself in petty politics or vindictiveness such as that. That her visits are an extension of the UK government of the time. They reflect relationships and important events at the time. They are not planned, organised nor undertaken lightly and have never had the frequency nor appearance of Maduro constantly begging for money in China or Cristina constantly ruling vicariously by being the most frequent visitor to The Vatican.

If some of you wish to demean the Queen by dragging her down to your own level of pettiness and vindictiveness then that is a reflection on you.

    Not her.

    GREAT BRITAIN
The one and only great nation on earth,
    ,,,,,,
Lets make no mistake, Great Britain is great, the clue is in the name after all.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is obviously uneducated, or French.

Without Great Britain the world would be a poorer place in every regard.
    Lets just remind ourselves why…
We gave the world democracy, common law, the Bailey Bridge, tanks, gravity, the worlds most common second language, Led Zeppelin, fair play, queuing, the backhoe loader, metal bridges, modern economics, the industrial revolution and Hollywood villains.
The Beatles, Morris Dancing, penicillin, HP sauce, Top Gear, the World Wide Web (your welcome), One Direction, Carry On and Simon Cowell
    =
invented the railway, sarcasm, MRI scanners, the screw propellor and a proper breakfast, been on the right side of the Napoleonic, First, Second and Cold War and gave the world steam power, the Mexeflote, Wallace and Gromit, roast beef dinners, the Dyson, Doctor Who, television, telephones, text messaging, GMT, electric motors, lawn mowers, spotted dick, sewage systems, the thermos flask, the jet engine, carbon fibre, the flushing toilet and polyester (just for the RAF), pencils, radar and the Bank of France (ha ha ha).
The correct method of holding an umbrella
The fighter aircraft, battleship, aircraft carrier, stun grenades, drill that doesn’t look ridiculous, the Pub Landlord, proper salutes, the torpedo, sonar, underwater knife fighters, the armoured vehicle boiling vessel (for the tea), Paralympic Games, independent air forces (yep, sorry about that one), the equal sign and gin and tonic

    Go on read the article………
