Queen Elizabeth has thanked well-wishers in the UK and overseas for their “touching messages of kindness” as she becomes Britain's longest-reigning monarch. Speaking in the Scottish Borders, the 89-year-old monarch said the title was “not one to which I have ever aspired”. Read full article

“The monarchy wouldn't be as popular if they were part of politics - they're above and beyond it.“ But I wonder how many ”policies” have been amended as a result of what Her Majesty may have said to her Prime Minister. WE can always remember that if our entire political class were to die, WE would still have Her Majesty. Perhaps Her Majesty would be kind enough to make republicanism a capital crime punishable by death. A way of improving the gene pool. How can anyone who has existed during the reign of OUR Queen Elizabeth even consider republicanism?

Can't think of anyone who has been put to death for questioning HM reign.

As usual, Vestige posts a vacuous comment to match his wit and intelligence.

Vestige, does this refer to CFK and the unfortunate investigator Sr Nissman?

    Not very bright are you?

    Agreed.

If she lives as long as her mother did then she could have another 15 years on the Throne.

@2. Iknow its been said before. “Vestige” of education. “Vestige” of intelligence. “Vestige” of worth. “Vestige” of nazis. Check out the meaning of “vestige”.

Vestigiality refers to organisms retaining characteristics that have seemingly lost the entirety of the original function. And deserve to die.

Yes, lets all check out the definition of “vestige”.

Check out the definition of “sycophant” while you're at it.

Maybe “introspection” “lemming” “fanatical” and “objectiveness” too.

btw Louis 14th still holds the European title.

I just saw a similarity between certain regimes and their cult of personality and what goes on in the minds of the like of conqueror.
'Oh the great one is flawless' type of deal.

The Queen's Wand is a powerful magical tool, capable of various enchanting abilities, such as:
    ◾Conjuration
◾Metamorphosis: Turning Conqueror's rags into a shining ballgown, a pumpkin into a coach, mice into horses, etc.
    God save the German Queen!

Unsure why highlighting the Queen's multicultural background is so common amongst Argentineans. Is this some subtle form of racism?

Cristina Fernández de Kirchner's four grandparents were all born in Europe. 3 in Spain and 1 in Germany.

HM Queen Elizabeth has all 4 grandparents born in the UK. In deed of her 8 great-grandparents, all were British except one who was from Denmark.

For some reason this makes the Queen German but CFK Argentinean. She doesn't even get to be Danish.

Marcos you are the proud product of the Argentinean education system.

    And it shows.

I have to wonder what you though of Néstor Kirchner whose parents were Chilean of Croatian descent and Swiss-German. The racist in you must have almost had a fit when you found that out.

    I like the Queen...
    What is not to dislike...?
Always gracious to other dignitaries, always above politics and doesn't appear aloof...
No scandals, no gaffes...a faultless record...
That's got to be a record in itself...
...and where does she choose to holiday.....Scotland.....;-)

    20 - conq and maybe 1 or 2 others.
Of course you can like her.
I've nothing against her as an individual.
(ok maybe 1 or 2 things, but they haven't motivated anything I've said here).

All I did was comment that from what I can see certain people might have taken a lemming/sheeple approach. Which I find a bit pathetic.
Likewise I'm not strongly opposed to Obama, but there are Obamaphone types out there, same ilk.
Try to be objective about the great benevolent leader, it will be good for you.

    27 wee man,

“What kind of a sad fcuker are you, that you have to pick on every comment I make regardless of its content...”

Oh, dear, are you crying because
you feel I'm picking on you...?

Can't take what you dish out to others?

Why would you feel compelled to pontificate about your position, unsolicited ?

One would assume you are already feeling defensive for some reason, or you feel conspicuous for not saying anything - when really it never entered anyone's mind to wonder what your opinion was.

You sound like you are trying to justify your own position, and you are so self conscious that you may be found wanting.

    How pathetic is that!!??

Your ego is so fragile... the world is so unfair to you... “chuckle chuckle” as the pantomime horse's ass would say.
