Diego Maradona has thanked the Queen and the Houses of Parliament for giving him the chance to provide true justice as head of an organization designed to help young children.
The Argentine football legend praised the Queen in a video released on his official Facebook page on Monday night in which the 55-year-old confirmed he would be taking on a new role as Latin American director for the non-governmental organization Football for Unity.
I would like to say hello to the Queen and the British Parliament, and tell them I whole-heartedly accept the nomination they have given me for the Latin America foundation, Maradona said in the video.
This is the perfect gift as I turn 55.
After so much struggle, you are giving me true justice that I imagined, the justice I wanted. Relax because the kids of Latin America are going to be fine with me and I am extremely grateful for the trust you have placed in me.
Maradona also highlighted that his honest nature would prove important in his new role and insisted there would be no corruption in the organization under his watch.
I am honest, and corrupt people have no place with me. I want the best for the kids, we are going to make them smile all together and that will be our reward, he added.
Here there will be no corruption, I can assure you. A big embrace for all parliament and my respect to Her Majesty, the Queen.
