Eating processed meats like hot dogs, sausages and bacon can cause colorectal cancer in humans, and red meat is also a likely cause of the disease, World Health Organization (WHO) experts said. Read full article
It has to be understood that ingesting anything is potentially harmful. Is there anything that hasn't, at some time, be classified as potentially harmful. Fat, non-fat, salt, sugar. The list is almost endless. Unfortunately, if you don't eat, you die.
Why is it that bodies like WHO never consider that some people may be cancer-prone.
But more than that, can you imagine the particulates spewed out by diesel engines? Where's WHO saying that diesel engines have to be banned? Perhaps WHO, and others, only report what is politically expedient?
The truth is that, as Conquerer says EVERYTHING is poisonous. Our bodies evolved the liver and kidneys to filter out as many poisons as possible.
At the end of the day anything that eat too much of is potentially harmful to you, whether it causes cancer, heart disease, obesity etc...
As Conqueror has pointed out some people are more genetically prone to getting cancer than others are. That's why there is so much research going into genetic factors to see if they can isolate a specific gene.
The chances are that these things have always had that affect on humans, regardless of whether the meat was 'processed' or not, and it was either never noticed or the cause of death was put down as something else.
Chances are that throughout history people died of other diseases long before certain cancers could take hold, or that people who suddenly got ill and died where believed to have been 'possessed' by an evil spirit.
The trick is everything in moderation. Let's face it, none of us are getting out of this life alive, so you may as well have some enjoyment out of your life.
