Argentine opposition candidate Mauricio Macri accused the ruling party of fear mongering after a weekend barrage of online attack ads warned he would throw people off welfare and reduce living standards by devaluing the currency. 'Hope' and 'fear', the two strongest emotions when selling politics. The government has decided to hang their campaign on 'fear'.

I posted at the weekend about the fear mongering going on by the government across social media. It is very organised. One friend talked about how the same phrases come up repeatedly without any substance to back up the claims. It is astonishing how susceptible people are to repetition.

Another area they are targeting is the feminist vote. There are all kinds of stories about Macri being anti-women, anti-human rights, anti-gay. It is all so desperate.

Are we surprised? No, not really, anything to cling on to power, Eh Klingon. I wish the Argies would go to sleep and then wake up in the 21st century, too much to hope for I hope not. I lived in Argentina for 2 years and found the locals very pleasant but I was not in BA where there is more arrogance.

How can you spot it's an argie driving his car?

The bastard will be driving it at you if you are on a zebra crossing, and I kid you not.

It's the mentality of 'I'm the greatest, fuck off out of my way'.

@2 It's pretty much fail and you go to jail for the K's.
I have been hearing stories in some Municipals here in the Provence where Pro has won after years of K rule they are burning files and smashing computers to try and cover up their tracks.
Unfortunately some of these dumb peasants will believe all this govt sponsored propaganda.
Kristina is using all the state against Macri in an all out effort to try and win.
I don't even think Scioli likes a lot of whats going on, but is going along with it as his heart is set on the presidency.

I can confirm that such campaign EXISTS. And it is so pathetic that people down here started to make fun of it by creating fake and quite funny “fear-ads” where they ascribe all kind of evils to Macri

“If Macri Wins, this little panda bear will die”
“If Macri wins, Chewbacca will ask you for combing his hair”
    etc.

I really admire how inventive people can be down here. And I really love to see that such disgusting attempt to raise fears has failed.

    Utterly idiotic.

I can´t stop having fun down here when I hear one of these kirchner- supporters telling ”huggg ... if Macri wins he will (add evil action here)“. As soon as I ask ”show me where or when he said such thing” they go MAD !!!! :D

Absolutely true that if you ask them to prove a terrible deed that Macri will commit they get very upset. The most often used phrase is along the lines of 'but everyone is saying it'.

A friend of mine in BsAs asked me to put together some rebuffs for the claims about Macri and I did so using facts not unsubstantiated fear. They don't seem to understand that the damage has already been done by the K's, the economy is balanced on the edge of a cliff and going over. The currency will have to be devalued and cuts made. They have no choice as there is not money left.

It is shocking that a large element of the Argentine population are so ill-informed and easily manipulated. Stroke their egos, bang the nationalist drum, make false promises and feed them lies. It is too easy.

In reality what can the Argentina's citizens would exactly expect it in today's world originated from a socialist certified brothel's whore, commonly known as Cristina Cunt's Kirchner, who is currently a member of an underground criminal organization, along with Brazil's socialist mammalia sapiens' prostitute well known as Dilma Can't Speak Rousseff, along with their own commonly recognized worldwide Sao Paulo's Communist Forum, installed back in mid 90's within Brazil's territory under the up most repressive, depressive, undemocratic criminal regime , led exclusively by Fidel Castro, included his own communist faggot's brother, named Raul Cock-sucker Castro.

In resume every single Sao Paulo's Communist active's member plays exactly the same fucking socialist game with a purpose to brain washed idiots in exchange to illegally and criminally stayed in power.

“Argentine opposition candidate Mauricio Macri accused the ruling party of fear mongering after a weekend barrage of online attack ads warned he would throw people off welfare....”

Same tactic used by Lula and Dilma in the Oct 2014 elections. No matter how much the opposition reiterated, in their TV ads and political rallys, that they wouldn't touch the welfare/ unemployment benefits , the PT kept on insisting that the opposition would. As it happens, Dilma won the elections - by a very small margin - and what did she do ? after admitting to a few errors in judgement - just a euphemism for brazen-faced lying - she did exactly that. She pushed legislation through Congress which effectively reduced unemployment benefits, which had been in force for decades. She lied her fat ass off regarding several key issues, the ugly truth appearing 3 months later. Obviously, her solemn promise that she wouldn't screw around with these things, isn't worth a bucket of piss.

Pinochet used the fear campaign but was defeated by a very positive hope campaign. Admittedly it will be hard to paint a rosy picture of the immediate future given how the K's have destroyed the economy and most voters think short-term but showing how much better Argentina could be and how individuals will benefit could be the answer.

Yes, the mocking of the scare stories will hopefully negate or reduce their intended effect. The Bu Campaign is churning out some good ones. :-D

I hope the country can find their way after year of Peronism, I think the route ahead for a real change will be a steep one.
if Macri wins,I hope they learned from the mistakes made by de La Rua government, the change should Systemic one and not just a political one, too many years of mafias at all levels, as an argentinian who leaved the country many years ago to find a better future somewhere else, its hard for me to hide my cynicism but I lot of people I care for still live there....

Argentines seem to have no idea how far their country has declined since Peron got his sticky hands on power - its ironic they are still voting en-masse in his corrupt dictatorial name.

For a few months each year (hopefully less in future) I live with my fiancé in one of the provincial capitals - I won't say which. Her apartment is right over a major road junction so is quite noisy at the best of times. About a year ago the entire junction was re-tarmacked (a pretty poor job which took them weeks to complete). What really got me annoyed though was that they didn't bother re-paint the zebra crossings which, admittedly, were almost invisible anyway prior to the re-surfacing - but at least they were there even if mostly in spirit. My fiancé - and presumably everyone else in the neighbourhood - just accepts this sort of govt arrogance and doesn't even THINK of complaining.

What sort of childishness makes them to want to make so much noise at every opportunity - banging drums, thundering boom-boxes, endless convoys of loudly honking cars after weddings, political gatherings, or (esp) football matches. And the racket can go on all night - there doesn't seem to be any laws against it - or if there are they are flouted. Last Sunday night the racket was so intense you'd have thought they had won the world cup or the Malvinas. Then there is this guy - possibly one of several - who proudly rides his loudly back-firing motorbike - shooting blue flames - around town at every “event” his tiny mind can think of - - the noise is ear-splitting esp when stopped at the lights. Then there are the enormous amount of cars and motorbikes rising around with no lights, which you could never get away with in a civilised country. I have NEVER - not once - seen police at this junction (except after an accident) - yet, once outside town, they have road-blocks every 50km.

Sorry to rant on, but I don't know anywhere else to express my frustrations...

Macri's history and pre-campaign statements have come to bite him.
All the “fear” claims coming from the Kirchnerism are founded on well-known statements Macri made in the past.
Granted, lately he changed his discourse and has promised to keep most of the social advancements implemented by the Kirchners.
Why, he recently went on to unveil a statue to...I am not kidding you...Juan Perón!
He even said in a speech that he had been inspired by Perón's political thoughts.
Unfortunately, not many buy such crass turn around at the 11th hour.
And the record shows that Macri's agenda is not precisely “let's change.”
It is, in fact, “let's go back” to a time that many in Argentina still remember all too well.

To the numero uno hypocrito en MP, like a broken record I ask again:

    Tobi-Enrigue....aka Quique......

WHY NOT RETURN TO ARGENTINA FOR A VISIT???????????

WHAT PREVENTS YOU TO DO SO?????????

It's over Tobi, Scioli can't even wipe it ass now without asking cuntlips permission.

Will you visit if Scioli wins?

SO, are you also ignoring reality when I ask:

What is Argentine middle class in term of an annual salary in pesos?

You avoid that as well as Cuntlips kirchners avoids press conferences and questions.

Is Macri “Peronist” then, simply not a “K”??

Even that has to be an improvement. As in any government where corruption is a perceived issue, the status quo needs to be shaken up, and agreements reviewed. It eliminates and exposes cozy back room deals.

Hmmm, “let's change” - sounds like a good idea after a lost decade of inflation and running investment and delivered government services into the ground.

“go back” - that would be the “K” fear-mongering again - congrats, Enrique - perverting the real message and spreading the “K” attack

Macri accusing Scioli of running a “dirty” campaign is a clear case of the kettle calling the pot black.
Macri, who has spoken at length of “k corruption,” had to let go Fernando Niembro, his head candidate to Congress who benefited of direct contracts for different “services” for over 20 million pesos.
While Niembro paid the piper, the mainstream Argentina media had little to say about the government of the Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, headed by Macri, which had granted the contracts.
The same mainstream media that includes La Nación, La Prensa and the Clarín Group regularly produce fake information attempting to erode current government officials, while conveniently forgetting that Macri himself is under investigation for benefiting from illegal wiretapping.

    @22
While Enrique is forgetting that VP Boudou is under investigation for corruption, but has not been asked to step down by the government, nor has he resigned until he is cleared of any wrongdoing.
Even Premier Alison Redfern had to leave office, for inappropriate dipping into the public purse.
Likewise, investigations into AMIA Bombing cover ups and Iranian payoffs to CFK led nowhere when the government prosecutor in charge of the investigation was shot in the head on the eve of testifying, and his death remains, “unsolved”.

Now there is the defamatory dirty scare campaign against Macri.

Certainly CFK is not a model of integrity.

Sorry pal. Two wrongs make not one right.
What we are talking about here is the integrity of a potential next Argentina president. You, of course, choose to call a legal case against Macri and the latest findings about suspicious use of BA public funds a “defamatory dirty scare campaign against Macri.”
Supporting one candidate over another is legitimate. Distorting the facts to justify your biases is not.

Look Captain. I do not need to say anything about Macri. He said it all!
He recently decided too late to change his discourse but it was too late, too evident, such as the ribbon-cutting of a Peron statue. Come on! Has he taken the Argentines for a bunch of idiots? (I can see you nodding).
What Macri said before is still recorded and those clips match almost to the word what other neoliberals such as economy minister of Videla in the 1970s said on the record.
    Scary. Really scary.

It looks like the scare campaign has backfired and become a joke. It was so disorganised (panic mode + normal incompetence) that even some K people are questioning some of the crazy claims. When you lose credibility with your own side you've really lost it!
