Argentine president Mauricio Macri outlined on Thursday his administration's foreign policy during the message to Congress when he stressed, with an overall non specific commitment, “we believe in the unity and cooperation of Latin America and the world”, and in strengthening democracy as the only possibility to solving the problems of diverse societies. He has to be careful not to fuel the opposition. CFK has pledged to make his life difficult and she will at very opportunity. Opposition are supposed to do that but in the interest of the country rather than out of spite, as in the case of CFK.

Macri is right to make broad, positive statements about future foreign relations.

CFK will find it very hard to mount an effective opposition from Marcos Paz prison .
SIDE and AFIP must have roomfuls of files on her and her cronies .
Because of the Iranian connection , the NSA , CIA , FBI and Homeland Security will have roomfuls as well .
I think you will find we have heard the last from her .
Here is a prediction to match Malens :
Her coke snorting son will either be assassinated or have a mysterious accident in the next 18 months .

@3 Well, yes, but look what happened when Nisman went after her. The Iranians dispatched him.

If Macri keeps his head he will not go after CFK and her family of criminals. He should concentrate on the positives for the future of Argentina and let the law take any action against her.

Macri was right to make a broad and sweeping statement on sovereignty, for now. Most Argentines are sick and tired of all that bellicose rhetoric of years past.

It is easy for him to just ignore the Falklands. Just not talking about it will be all the difference in the world.
The Falklanders don't need Argentina and if the harassment goes away I am sure they'd be very happy with that outcome.

    9. You'll be long dead before you see Arg rebuild their military. Long long dead.

Argentina could never become a rich country based on the exports they have now. They can't produce anything that can't be bought cheaper and better somewhere else.

Indeed, there´s hope and a sense of renewal. Most people were sick and tired of listening to a queen-wannabe whose idol was chavez.

Macri´s words sounded like a wise call to union, agreement and understanding.

To me, the defeat of CFK was like the end of a long nightmare. Now, we will have a lot to do in order to be a normal country again.

The last thing Argentina needs is stronger armed forces. No one threatens them, nothing to fear. The first priority is to stop printing Pesos, reduce inflation and revive exports and foreign trade. Better relations with Europe and America will boost trade and increase wealth. Good luck with that…

“Support for Argentina to become economically strong...back on track to become a rich and powerful Country...

Taking an island 400 miles away even with strong forces is not going to be a walkover-you had strong forces in 1982 and only invaded because there were only 80 troops to defend.

You had best spend your money on your people.

Contrary to what some British commentators say, even without aircraft carriers, the Falklands would not be an easy target even if Argentina had up to date weaponry and lots of it, and even if MPA runway was destroyed.

Still if you want to waste money on forces that are still going to suffer bad losses that is up to you.

If Argentina becomes a rich country there is unlikely to be the discontent which fuels the Malvinas Myth.

Macri will try hearts and minds-wait and see.

Macri is a refreshing change from CFK & her corrupt cronies. It is obvious he wants to build bridges with all nations & reboot his country's economy which CFC has done her best to totally destroy - It is probably her only achievement while being in office apart from isolating her country over false land claims & the so called vulture funds.
I can guarantee diplomats & governments of all the countries she thanked for their support on the so called “Malvinas question” had a collective sigh of relief once they heard that the witch & her crooked cronies had gone!!

Good luck Argies but I will not hold my breath and I would expect the UK to keep the same number of troops/Aircraft ect on the FALKLANDS ISLANDS.

Self determination has & will always prevail over attempted bogus land grabs/Colonisation by corrupt dictatorships.

To be fair, if Argentina was a dictatorship she would still be there. They are poor, brainwashed, corrupt and very very stupid, but not a dictatorship.

I think, much to Mercopress's horror, you are just not going to hear very much about that 'M' word for a long time now, he is distracted with other business, there are more important things to do. As for Cristina, my guess is that one by one all of her dodgy dealings and government sponsored suicides are going to catch up her, she will be occupied with that.

    Lying about the economy

    Lying about Malvinas

No matter what the topic, NEVER tell the truth if a good lie would do.

You can rest assured that I (and the UK )won't, and my “If Argentina becomes a rich country” is indeed a very big 'if' and very unlikely for many years to come.

There is one thing that has been certain throughout Argentina's history.

Their periods of poverty coincide with ramping up the Malvinas myth.

    Hence @25 Frank

“ Its only when the economy is down the tubes that the regime decides to give it any teeth as a means of distraction.”

Their periods of wealth have coincided when there is least animosity toward the Falkland Islanders.

For Argentina's sake, Macri may be able to reverse the Peronist practice of self destruction , but if the Peronists gain power within 5 years, your country is down the gurgler.

With no chance whatsoever of getting anything from the Falklands.

What was said at this president-governor's meeting? Is Macri really ready to GIVE UP a massive presidential power and return money to the provinces for their own use, which has been a major weapon of the executive i the last quarter-century? Is he ready to sacrifice a 2nd term for the glory of immortal statemanship?

Decentralization is all or nothing. Either every individual gets their money (so everyone is left to their own devices to survive -- THE INVISIBLE HAND), or ONLY ONE PERSON, an absolute tyrant, handles everyone's money. That way one must not look far if something goes awry.

This middle ground is useless and we see it all over the world, as Europe, North America, Australia, Asia, and Latin American federalist states falter into chaos, corruption, lack of funds, or disunity.

Let the Invisible hand work (my belief), and he who does not produce simply DIE, or let one person handle it all.

Bahahaha Western Australia currently has unemployment hitting a 13 year high. It's budget deficit has hit A$2.7 billion and state debt is heading towards A$35 billion and beyond.

So to answer your question, Western Australians are very upset and annoyed. They're also asking for more money from the Commonwealth because they're pretty much in a recession.

As for Queensland, they're not having much fun either. Needing to sell off assets due to their downturn.

    http://www.afr.com/news/politics/gdp-wa-goes-backwards-qld-struggles-20150603-ghflh1

As for my state, Victoria, its booming at the moment. Massive amounts of immigration from overseas and within Australia. I'm sure this is the opposite of what you were thinking and hoping for in your comment. Because you didn't update yourself to what the current conditions are.

Actually you made my bloody argument you drongo.

Different Australian states boom while others don't. It's NSW and Victoria that are the engines of growth now. Not Qld and WA.

That's why our federation is so successful. Because of fiscal equalisation. States might whinge and moan and want more but at the end of the day it works.

    Troy

Interestingly I don't know what someone from Perth is called. Western Australians are usually referred to as sandgropers. I'll go with Perthians.

Nostrils (as he is wont) has latched onto one small incident in our history and is trying to make it into something. In 1833, ravaged by the Great Depression, WA votes in a referendum to leave the then 32 year old Commonwealth of Australia and become its own Dominion of Westralia under the Crown. They petitioned London who refused the request. The movement died out 5 years later.

The idea crops up every now and again by some businessman or random politician. To Nostrils, sandgropers are literally chafing under inequality and duress ready to break out at any moment.

Such a reality dysfunction probably comes from Nostrils being shaped by the fact his country spent the first 50 years of its existence killing each other. Whereas we just had a vote by one state during its worst economic downturn. Quickly forgotten when the economy recovered.

Nostrils has attempted to show Australia's federation in a poor light and keeps failing miserably as he literally makes my argument for me.

“They will feel they gave lots of money during the boom and now that they need help Canberra says screw you.”

Up until 2009, WA was a recipient of more Commonwealth money than it paid in taxes. Ergo it was a net beneficiary. for more than ONE HUNDRED YEARS.

Such a fact disproves Nostrils' claim in #39. Since 2009 sandgropers have felt what Victorians and New South Welsh have felt almost every year since federation..... to give more than you receive back.

Nostrils keep proving I'm right by highlighting WA. If WA really needs the money then the Grants Commission will give it the next time they revise the figures.

Australians still have very strong state identities and devices power structure unlike Argentina. Again just proves how much more successful our federation is to the almost unitary state Argentina has evolved into.

@34. But is a myth. Unless you've got something “new” that hasn't already been destroyed many times over. You'd stand a better chance of success if you tried to “claim” Uruguay. Just think, you could line up all your armed forces up along the south bank of the river with the boat at the eastern end and the jet at the western. Meanwhile your tanks could be pushed forward by some of those kit cars you used to assemble. As a matter of interest, how much ammunition have you got that doesn't explode as soon as it's touched?

“The days when Argentina was a British pseudo-colony are long over”

And now Argentina is a Chinese pseudo-colony.

    Congratulations.

But despite all this new finance, how come the best your last government could offer the FAA was a few ancient Kfirs, most without radar and no weaponry?

Why no reasonably up to date Chinese fighters?

Not that the UK is complaining.

Without a very significant increase in military capability which Soy doesn't appear to be able to buy (all you can make is the Pampa, which can't even touch the Bae Hawk), you cannot successfully invade the Falklands, which is your only chance of realising your myth, as Ruda's submission to the UN in the 1960s was a pack of lies, otherwise you would have gone to the ICJ.

I am not saying you can't enjoy your myth. Please do, because you don't appear to realise just how strong the British claim on the Islands has been since 1690, and Argentina has only the most tenuous s of claims to counter act it, as said by
