By Ban Ki-Moon - Seventy years ago, the United Nations was created from the ashes of the Second World War. Seven decades later, in Paris, nations have united in the face of another threat ¬ the threat to life as we know it due to a rapidly warming planet. Read full article

Ban Ki-Moon. The policies of incompetent governments may have created global warming. Are you proposing to punish the governments of China, North Korea, India, Pakistan? Nope. You propose to punish the people of the world with so-called “green” taxes. If governments only supply “non-green” fuels, why should ordinary people be penalised for using them? Why can't ordinary people contact the UN to tell you what an arse you are?

“the threat to life as we know it due to a rapidly warming planet.”

We do not have a rapidly warming planet. In fact we do not even have a warming planet. There is no triumph, just more nonsense as the UN seeks ever more power over our lives.

Watch the video here from 1972. Almost word for word what is still being said, but then they hadn't invented global warming.

The next US Presidntt isn't going to cut off the UN funding.

If she does, I'm sure the world will find the $655 million from somewhere. It isn't that much.

The EU pays $935 million or 143% of the US contribution.

The US wants to be a superpower. So pay your bills.

I agree with you Skip......however, the EU is no one nation. The USA is one nation. You're comparing an economic bloc to one single country.

I didn't say the EU was a nation but it is an economy of comparable size to the US.

As the world's largest economy, it should shoulder the burden of the highest contributor.

The US can't run the world and fankly no one wants it to. The UN is far from perfect but it is better than nothing.

Climate change mantra is a farce, it was developed as a way to get rich countries to pay for poor countries.
If there really was man-made climate change the rich countries will be able to mitigate it and our living standards won't have much of a change. The poor countries won't but they won't see a change in their living condition either. It matters little to the overall world development whether they survive or not.
I really don't know why people care.
    Much ado about nothing.

You are absolutely right Skip the the USA can't and shouldn't run the entrie world. But in the same steam it should not be financially responsible for a useless, tits on a bull organization as the UN. The UN showed it's uselessness the day Muammar Gaddafi and Libya began serving on the Human Rights Commission. As someone who's been on the smelly end of a shit stick UN decision I would rather have nothing. The last two years of what we've seen in the UN shows it IS in fact nothing. The past corruption scandals, no scanctions on North Korea, sex slaves, Sri Lanka, Darfur....Rwanda......I'll take nothing. I'd just assume have it out of my country as well. The last 5 years have seen Elected dictators prancing around pissing on the UN. Let the smaller countries pay for it if they want it that much.

The UN's biggest failure?....Africa. The USAC has been there unofficially long before 2007 and i's a totally ignored mess.
