The review needs to happen. No-show employees on the payrolls are thieves, plain and simple.

If you have an honest-to-God job, and it's needed by the government, and you actively work at it every day, why would you need to worry?

When the review identifies a handful of really outrageous cases of fraud, and publishes the facts, it will be hard to argue with... regardless of union complaints.

    Best wishes to all.

100s of thousands need to be fired out of the federal government payroll.
Let's see if they can do it without the unions burning down the city.

“the problem could be easily corrected with increased oversight.”

This is a bit incredulous to me. “Corrected”? “Fire them”?

The no-shows are embezzlers!!!! One action alone is absolutely required by any adult with a brain. Put those no shows in jail for hurting their country!!!!

It's not just the no show employee, I would think 5+ people get a cut of the salary.
    It's big business.
    It's a mafia.
The only kind of business peronists know.

In the U.S. they could fire thousands and thousands of bureaucrats too and it wouldn't make a difference. It'd probably make our society run better.

They strive to do as little, or even better, nothing, for as much money as possible. That's the way to maximize their budget. Productivity is frowned upon.

If they could, they'd try and not show up and get paid too.

    6. Absolutely. The next Prez needs to wind down 7-8 cabinet level bureaucracies/agencies. Get rid of them once and for all. They're a monstrous and criminal waste of money.
This is why you see the non-politicians doing so well with the people.
The people know that something is wrong and want change.
    It's exciting.

    @6. lol.

    News Flash:

Chicago alone could get rid of tens of thousands and service would streamline and improve.

You can get shed of fleas but bureaucrats and the nepoticrats that they generate and the collectivism that perpetuates them would require a popular uprising to oust.

    Reap it rottingroadkill.

The only way to get rid of them is to starve the beast of gov't whittle away their funds year after year until they're all gone.

5% (real) decrease yoy would probably be palatable even to Statists.

And before you know it starts to collapse in on itself and then you can strike the final blow.
