Israeli Arabs can serve in Parliament and vote. They can join the judiciary; there is an Arab supreme court judge and the former Jewish President Moshe Katsav was sent to jail by another Arab judge. Unlike in Apartheid South Africa there is no segregation between Jews and Arabs in Israel and Arabs can take the same buses, visit the same parks and beaches, be treated in the same hospitals and live in the same towns as Jews. All this Israeli Arabs can do in a manner that would have been unheard of for black people in Apartheid South Africa. Any repressive measures taken by the Israeli authorities have come as a result of the constant terror attacks (bombings, stabbings, rocket attacks) they have suffered from hate-filled Arabs who elected an organisation to govern them (Hamas) which has written in its own charter its intention to see every Jew in the world dead.
