Over the last 25 years, the US farmer has become increasingly aware of the impact of South American agricultural output on the global supply of grains and oilseeds. For example, in recent years Brazil has risen to the number one position as an exporter of soybeans. Read full article

Interesting. Lack of rainfall in parts of the U.S. has been a very real problem in recent years.

During the last 25 years, more or less, the agribusiness in Brazil has performed pretty well - note : it is in the hands of the private sector - and for quite some time has been the largest single contributor to export revenues.
