Falklands' population in 'constrictive' trend, says Argentine team on the field
The Falklands' population composition can be described as 'constrictive' since there is a tendency to ageing in the population pyramid, in other words there are more elderly people than children. Comments belong to a member of an Argentine team of geography and migration experts from a university in Santa Fe province (Universidad Nacional del Litoral, UNL), who have been granted scholarships to collect such data from the Islands, based on a project the team presented. Of course, the UK has nothing to negotiate with Argentina in the Falklands, but neither does Ecuador have anything to negotiate with the UK. As far is that matter is concerned, it is settled. Assange made it to the Ecuadorian Embassy and that's the end of the story. Nothing to negotiate and they can shout and scream in Quito all day... cased closed.

To be arrested and tossed in a police cell. Decisions will then have to be made. Should he be promptly extradited to Sweden? In that case, will Sweden undertake to add a year to any sentence to take account of the penalties for breach of bail OR will Sweden undertake to return him to the UK at the appropriate time so that he can serve 12 months here?

The trend in the UK, excepting immigration figures, is also toward an ageing population and @2 Skip points out that China have a massive ageing problem.
As the Islands have been used to a low population density for a long time it is hardly going to spell doom for the Islands, especially as just like the past few hundred years migrants to the Islands will marry and have children, not of a wholly British origin.
I'm glad these researchers clocked the contribution that Union Jack Hayward made for the old folks at the QEMH.
I can't help feeling that their assertion that the fertility rate they calculate as low is a load of crap, it may be that people do not want to have huge families for practical and economic reasons, and if the housing stock increases at a gradual rate, why cause difficulties by having lots of children that might have to migrate from the islands?
The Islands are relatively prosperous because their income sustains the population. If that expands too fast it will affect everyone's standard of living.
It's still comparatively a small population that isn't going to explode overnight.
How difficult is that to work out?

Getting harder and harder for those Argentineans (especially those that believe race is paramount in nationality) to claim that Falkland Islanders are in-bred or just English immigrants when there are Eurasian kids running around.

I actually don't think lack of CT scanner technicians is the most pressing problem there at the moment. I expect that the FIG is going to have to bring in Scotland Yard and possibly some reinforcements for a crackdown, as there is a very unnerving crime-wave going on in Stanley.
The Falklands police have released an official statement and subsequent warning to the would-be perpetrator(s). It appears that someone has been finding lost golf balls on the golf course and clandestinely offering them for resale (I actually wasn't aware that lost balls are considered to remain the property of the original owner; but apparently such is the case).
Can you imagine living in such a dangerous, crime-infested community. I honestly don't know how the poor souls do it.
If only we could all be so cursed.

Because you are a village idiot with about two functioning brain cells, you do not realise there are many occupations in the Islands (including Vets, teachers etc) that Islanders can fill because they get sent to UK UNIVERSITIES FOR FREE and return to the Islands.
Just imagine what a mess the Islanders would be in if they sent their youngsters to INFERIOR Argentine universities.

But I'll give you some credit, 30 to 40 years ago when the Falklands economy was almost solely linked to producing wool, many young Islanders did emigrate, so in that sense at least you are only stuck in the 20th century.
However, you have failed to notice that since 1982, Islanders have become pilots, teachers, vets and there has been a Falkland Island lawyer for at least 30-40 years. There are also engineers and all manner of trades filled by Islanders who have trained in the UK.
Because you have a very simple idea of what actually happens in the islands linked to your simple education system, it shows you up to be the simple village idiot.
A major Argentine flaw is the inability to perform any type of research which you demonstrate admirably.

Our Schools are struggling to cope with ever increasing numbers of children,
and being expanded or planning now for expansion.
New Houses are being built- and occupied as fast as they are built - and there is still a waiting list for housing. STanley is still expanding as fast as it can.
New Power Station planned to cope with bigger Stanley. Oh and people are still living on the farms- camp population now steadied- with more families and small kids than say 15yrs ago.
Maybe they forgot to count all the youngsters away at College and University etc?
The 2012 census was a bit of a b-up. several families were away and not received forms and others here never got the forms!

Of course, some of the Tierra del Fuego estancias were originally run by the good folks from the Falklands who by and large were made of more solid British stuff than the argentos, hence their ability to more completely enjoy the islands.
Well crime is kind of difficult when you're in a hamlet.

As for urban living. Not everyone wishes to live in an urban setting like you seem to enjoy. I know for people such as yourself that different ideas and preferences are a difficult concept to accept. But they do exist and it seems the Falkland Islanders are happy with their rural idyllic.
Reality is not just cities. What a narrow perspective you possess.
If Islander craves a more urbanised lifestyle then they could move to Argentina I guess (they seem to get residency easily enough). The opposite isn't so easy thankfully. Guess Argentineans can head to Chubut for their rural idyllic but rarely to The Falklands.
However if Falkland Islanders value their life savings and personal safety then they could always move to the many cities of the UK mainland.
