The court-appointed mediator in the bonds dispute says Argentina has reached a settlement with bondholders seeking about 1% of the US$10 billion being pursued by investors. Mediator Daniel Pollack announced on Tuesday in New York the deal in the class action case. The deal came nearly two weeks after he announced two of six leading bondholders settled claims for more than US$1 billion. Read full article

Singer loses his grip each time a bondholder settles.
He is looking more and more like the greasy pig he is.

This “news” didn't even make the headlines here in Argentistan. Down about 30 articles, below the news about prices of school supplies. Half-hearted mention of getting one more little fund to agree to a big haircut, shades of 2005.

@3 Correct. For now, the injunction remains. Argentina is still in contempt of court and the conditions that brought it to that state are still in place. Cerrojo law still in place. Argentina and the apologist press are trying to play up concessions by the smaller players. Interesting to watch these events and much history still to see.

Looks like inflation in Argentina is going to be about 40 percent for this year.

You can understand the new government wanting to show that Argentina is ready to join the real world.

This is what they have to nail down first. This is the third time to my certain knowledge:

    A. Scalia is dead.

A successor will be put forward by Obamy.

Only when a center or right of center nominee is put forward will they be approved.

The particulars of Singer's case remain intact as the underlying default remains uncured.

Griesa has neither inclination nor judicial authority to empower him to render judgement as to the satisfactoriness' of any offer by rgntiny below that of which the court has previously found for Singer.

Since the purpose of Singer's suit was equity and not performance, Griesa having previously found for Singer can't rightfully take any action that leads away from that furtherance.

    Dear Macaroni:

    Fire your local counsel.

And get your boys out of the bar.

    lol.

    Ditto.

On related news, Macri administration gives teachers wage increases of about 40 per cent, instead of keeping increases at 20 or 25 per cent as he previously stated.
The teachers being the first to negotiate, 40 per cent will probably become the benchmark for all other collective negotiations. Looks like some calculations were a bit off.

@10 Further evidence of the suspicion that this year's inflation will be around 40 to 50 percent.

The ARS is slowly losing value against the USD as well.

I'm cheering for Macri.....I like what he has done thus far.

As for those retirees who invested, there's always Greece, Bulgaria, Iceland, Venezuela, Romania and let's not forget Iraq. Trust me, it's a lovely country........

    14.

Macaroni presses his claim for the Falklands.

Macaroni haggles over the curing of its acknowledged, proven and fully adjudicated default.

    And you like these things?

    Interesting.

He's working the default. As for the Falklands......I care why? Why do I care as neither an Argentine or a Brit? If you find that my POV are interesting, great, if not, also great. In other words, who cares. Macri is 180 degrees of Kirchner and doing what he can with what he has. He should pay 100% of the defaulted bonds as much as the scumbag Singer should pay 100% of the face value purchased.

It would seem that you were a holder of those bonds. Like I said, Iraq is a solid investment. In fact, non military can now get inside the green zone. But honestly, outside the green lies all the fun.

So the rule of law in general versus anarchy isn't particular important to yourself?

  • Captain Poppy

If that's how you see it.....codification versus anarchy.....lol. Sure, why not. Your opinion is ......just that. And more so, totally insignificant and irrelevant to me. However, I guess you put Macri in the same category as Kirchner is like claiming that idiot is the same kind of idiot that Canadian Cruz is. By far they are two totally different idiots. But again, just an insignificant and irrelevant opinion, only to you this turn.

    Have you ever seen anarchy?

And I was thinking like the fall of Baghdad. Nothing like watching the Shia's avenge Saddam on the Sunni's while we all sit back and watch.

That is anarchy. Not paying full dollar on your debt, not so much. Trying to reasonable what one can, admirable attribute.

Check out the projects sometime off 95 from CT where the old Freedom Land(too young to know that park) use to be, just before the Throgsneck.

Bloomberg and FT are not the best sources on this but they summarised Singer's objection to the Argentine proposal to remove the stay.

As Argentina has now shown a willingness to settle outstanding claims, I am not sure the injunction is still warranted.

Different claims will be negotiated at different speeds and settled at different times. The injunction is a blunt instrument now and will only hinder those that are happy to settle.
