In April/16 Brazil begins to be auctioned in infrastructure concessions. Russian and Chinese companies will be the major victorious, as Western companies were excluded from participation because of the rating agencies.

When your country is going backrupt, into recession, exposed for corruption, and generally circling the toilet, always remember to distract the populace with heavy expenditures in locations that are included in long-standing UK overseas territorial claims.

Brasshole, most of the fresh fruit for the Falklands comes from Chile, delivered weekly. Likely soon to be supplemented with deliveries from Uruguay.

You should check out the nice sub-Antarctic base that the Chinese built on the British territory of King George Island. They should be able to build another nice one for Brazil. Just don't forget that the Chinese expect to be paid in advance and in dollars.

NB: The Mercopiss writer doesn't have a clue what he/she/it is talking about: “...Punta Arenas mayor Flies underlined...” No, Jorge Flies is not the mayor of Punta Arenas. Emilio Boccazzi Campos is the mayor of that city. Flies is the intendente for the XII Región.

We do not respect any sovereignty over Antarctica! We will build more 6 bases in partnership with the BRICS.

Either way you should continue concerned about the supply of fresh fruit.

When Argentina bought Chinese rail cars someone measured wrong and they didn't fit in the stations or in the tunnels.
    Chinese engineering and Argentina incompetence
Plus the cars are already falling apart.

For the Chinese are finishing the construction of transmission lines for Belo Monte to the Southeast and the work has been very well done. The staff of the Power Grid is simply brilliant.

@6 I do remember that major cockup, back in 2014. At the time it was locally called the worst purchase of rolling stock in the entire history of the metro.

Hey Yankee Boy, the dollar is falling precipitously. What's going on there in the Empire? If so continue Brazil will soon withdraw its reservations and deposit them in Yuan in the People's Bank of China. Before it become dust.

The Brazil in February had the best trade surplus in history for that month. The West only brings delay.

(. Not quite the same thing now is it? The USA is the world's leader in Space Technology so other nations must conform to us not us to them.

    10. The U$ is on a multi year upswing so I am not sure what you are talking about as usual. I think you drink tainted water and it is killing your thinking ability.

    12. Why would it?

I see Brazil held rates even though the inflation is getting out of control.
They're doing the exact opposite of what they should be doing

You're on the same road as Venezuela

“The USA is the world's leader in Space Technology so other nations must conform to us not us to them.”

I would not argue the USA's excellence in Space Technology. But if you had read the article in the link provided - you would have seen that there is a consensus for US to move fully to metrification. This has been partially achieved within NASA, but foundered on grounds of cost - legacy, and sub contractor issues.

And you still have to hitch a ride from Uberski to the ISS.. ; )

    14. I skimmed the article and I will say again, the world needs to conform to our standards not the other way around.

We're working colonizing Mars the ISS is old news and useless I'm surprised it hasn't broken apart yet.

@14 Surely the Yanks sent a Mars lander that crashed, because they used a mix of imperial and metric units. One day they'll get the hang of metric.

First the Antarctica Base was put on fire.
Then they are reconstructing it - on a Priority Basis - forgetting about the most urgent needs at home; in the midst of the political thrillers & the economic disasters.

If this not typical of Brazil; what is?

The Chinese are only building their own future base in Antartica ; Brazil won't be able to pay and the Chinese will keep it. Too bad.

“Hey Yankee Boy, the dollar is falling precipitously. ”...

Is it really ? it's still over R$ 4,00....the value will fluctuate, but no way will it drop consistently....not until Brazil gets it act together, which won't happen while the PT is allowed to continue fucking things up......the only thing that has dropped “precipitously”, and will continue to, is your intelligence, which was pretty near zero anyway.

    T-Paine,

So when do you think you're going to colonise Mars?

The USA only went to the moon to score political points over the Soviet Union, and the Russians then went ahead and landed probes on Venus.

If you're going to explore Mars then don't mess it up simply because your bloated self-pride won't let you stop using obsolete systems of measurement.

If it wasn't for the French (and to a lesser degree the Spanish and Dutch) the USA wouldn't even be an independent country.
